This was our first time here and it's a really pretty trail. It's fairly rugged but not overly difficult. The only "issue" is that Google maps takes you to the trailhead proper, which is cool, except if you're driving there (and you probably are) there's no actual parking. You have to park in the Spec's lot and walk the short distance to it. I don't mind that but it was a little confusing as we were expecting a parking lot. Also being a Sunday and Spec's being closed, all was well but I wonder if they appreciate non-customer parking on days they're open...

Nice trail with lot of shade. The path is possible with a good mountain bike, but not very easy.
The trail continues north, or you can turn west to Barton Creek are stop at the twin falls.
Dogs are welcome but on leash. Also, please don't leave your doggy poop bag on the trail! We saw quite a few bags on our way. Not cool...
We really liked the water fountain at the trail head, but bring a bottle because there's no fountain on the trail.

Violet Crown sure is a gem for hikers and mtb bikers. Your surrounded by trees and stretches of overhanging rock formations. The sound of the river accompanies you while tackling the roots and rocks on the trail. A must on a beautiful day!

It looks like people park in Spec's parking lot and walk over make sure your dogs & kids are secure busy dangerous highway right there.
A lot of bicyclists flying by also through the parking lot in and out of the trail.
Lots of paths & space can go back more than once for a new hike & spend a long time exploring, some treacherous spots on the trail watch your step & also flat smooth trails for walking & running.
The west trail literally goes underneath Mopac a little spooky just be safe.
Also trail access behind Best Buy.

Never saw the trailhead from the access road, but easy once you see it, a great walk.

This is an interesting hike as it descends in elevation as you go. You will pass through some different geographical environments from rocky hillside forests, creek bottoms, and bottoms of cliff faces. Has many spots to go off of the trail and explore. Majority shaded. Bring water. Has some challenging footing due to frequent rocks in parts.

Great hiking trail! Leave your vehicle @Specs off Brodie & 290.

This is a nice hike down to Barton Creek that is not too crowded. Park in Spec's parking lot, then walk east on feeder of 290. It won't disappoint!

One of the best places in Austin to hike. Even in the hottest part of summer there is a lot of shade on this trail.
