Banner Lakes at Summerset State Park

Another hidden gem Iowa National Park. Great place to rise your bike, fish ,hike, and just enjoy being out of the way. Plan to not be in a hurry when you come here. Great scenery and always something to see.

Was a great experience at this park! It was very quiet, besides the shooting range, but would be a great place to hike, bike, or fish!

The trails at this location are awesome! It's not really a straight walk in some parts so if ya have troubles with hills this might not be for you. Depending on what trail you go one their is steep inclines and hills that are fun to walk on. Little chipmunks kept running very close to me while I was walking.

Tons of trails, water options, bike paths for off road adventure trails; ranging from flat to blues and even black diamond routes.

Absolutely stunning! An array of trails ranging from beginner, to hard. The trails are not paved but they do circle back a few times close to the main road, which is handy if you have small kids or doggos! I will most definitely be a regular here!

These singletrack MTB trails are absolutely within the top 3 that I've personally ridden around the world and, so far, they're #1 in Iowa for me. There are some great trails in Iowa but these are the most challenging (and I've been riding MTB since 2009). Lots of very tight, technical lines with a lot of switchbacks. Make sure your balance skills are dialed because you're going to need them on these blue and black trails. As challenging as they are, they are super rewarding and the scenery is just amazing, especially right now during fall. Seriously some of the most fun I've had on a singletrack in awhile. 👍🏻👍🏻

Nice place for biking. Short paved loop of 1.3 miles and multiple MTN bike loops. Beautiful. Watching a hot air Balloon take off!

Amazing park with really fun trails! The gunshots from the shooting range on the park grounds can kill the vibe a bit, but it won't stop me from visiting frequently.

Love it, secluded place of peace and tranquility. It is a great place for admiring nature, photography fishing, having a picnic, relaxing, you can bring your boat, canoe, bike.

Summerset State Park is a great place to go for a walk or bike ride on the trails. I also like the lakes for kayaking and fishing. It's usually nice and quiet and well maintained. There is a lot of wildlife to see and enjoy as well.

Love this place. There are several areas around the edge of the water where you can fish. I’ve seen a lot of people on kayaks, but I haven’t done it myself. Some local people have created and maintain several mountain bike trails. People walk on them as well. There is also easy access to Summerset Trail and Middle River.

One of the most difficult mountain bike trails around, but still some easier. Good for walking and jogging too. Can connect to paved trail. Walk around the lake, picnic, fish.

The water here was like glass. The trails are super neat and the Parks website has them all laid out. Very cool and for sure will be back!

This trails here are amazing. I believe the majority are MBT, but allow hiking on them as well. We were quite excited to find signage showing they stock the ponds with trout in the colder months.

Best mountain biking trails in the area in my opinion. Good scenery, fishing and a gun range in the back

Oh, Yeah! This place is great. If you are bored of flat Iowa try the coal miners daughter trail (2 miles) and come back on the new ed beach trail and then use the road to get to the parking lot (about .75 miles total). Try the extra credit trail if you think you won't get lost on the most winding trails in the park. Hiking on the island in the middle of the north lake was really cool, first you go on the water front and then up on the ridge.

Lovely place to take the kids fishing lots of bluegills to keep them busy. The bike trails offer a nice walk in the woods. But bring insect repellent, the ticks and mosquitoes can get bad depending on time of year. And wear jeans if you go in the woods. There's poison ivy. Regular things to be cautious about when you enjoy the outdoors.

Banner lake is gorgeous boasting not only several places to fish but walking trails suited for all experience levels including cycling. If in the woods trails don't suit you, it is easy to connect with the paved bike path that seemingly never ends but offers wonderful shade and a slight breeze even on the hottest of days.
