Local 188

My husband and I had seen this restaurant several times walking in Longfellow Square and so we finally decided we were going to have dinner and so happy that we did! The food was amazing the ambiance is low lit, cozy yet romantic. We ordered coffee and it was good but not robust enough for me although my husband enjoyed it. Also, the coffee could have been hotter after pouring creamer in it the coffee was warm not hot. Our server was fabulous and everything we ordered was just perfect!! This is going to be our New go to restaurant!

Great atmosphere, wonderful gnocchi and risotto, surprise cake, and even better service! (Our server went above and beyond, even lending their reading glasses so one of our party could see the menu). This might be our new favorite place...

Outstanding! Fist time in Main. We were able to sit at the bar seats in front of the chef’s area…awesome for a front row view of all the action. Our server Jaq was very attentive and helpful with suggestions, she was doing several jobs in the restaurant and still had time to make sure we were taken care of. We talked to owner who made sure we were enjoying the experience. We may go back tomorrow morning for breakfast. A definite must experience when in Portland.

Whenever we head up to Portland, Local 188 is our final stop for brunch before heading home. Yesterday was no exception, in that their brunch was, as usual, exceptional in every way. It's a funky, industrial, comfortable, playful space. So I place my fussy-pants, deconstructed benedict order which was not on the menu, and yet met with enthusiasm. Jack delivered an epic English, two perfectly poached eggs (I mean… PERFECTLY), a small pot of thick gorgeous hollandaise and a small pile of truly excellent home fries, which is a revelation in itself. Jack (our darling girl bartender) took great care of us, confirming that this is the Very Best Brunch Ever.

A perfect date night spot! Shoutout to our waitress, Jacquline. She gets 5 stars too. We ordered the ceviche scallops! Very tasty but small to share. The mushroom dish is super tasty and perfect as a side dish to share.( for 2 people) and the last dish we got was the Venison. That was the best dish of the night for us. Juicy and full of flavor. The plates are so beautifully prepared and decorated. The restaurant has a great ambiance for a late night dinner. Sexy yet comfortable! Check out the pics. Overall highly recommend!

We wandered in on our anniversary with no reservation (a Friday night!) and nabbed one of the last tables. The service was exceptional from the warm greeting at the host stand to the water glasses never dipping below half full. The server offered great recommendations and made us feel at home. The food was exquisite. Paella was mind blowing. The house bread was fantastic. The steak skewer tapas dish was tasty but a little small. The papas frites were right on. Can’t wait to go back and try the sangria.

My husband and I discovered this restaurant years ago when we first visited Portland, Maine and decided to come here again for our trip with friends since it was an amazing experience last time! As soon as you enter their restaurant, you're immediately "wowed" by their interior setup with open kitchen view and space.

We started off with some cocktails (I tried the Beach Fire #2) and few appetizers to start things off. Their Deviled Eggs are my absolute favorite and can honestly eat an infinite amount of them! Next, we tried their charcuterie board - my favorite was definitely their patés (so good). Finally for our entrée, we shared the seafood paella. All the seafood on this dish was cooked to perfection and the rice tasted amazing! It's definitely one of their best menu items :)

Overall, Local 188 never disappoints us with their food and drink. Will definitely be coming back here again for my next trip to Portland! Also recommended for a date night :)

The seafood paella is delicious. You could easily share it with 3 of your friends. This place is comfortable and the service is good. I would recommend it for brunch, lunch, or dinner.

Definitely a place to hit up. Seafood paella 🥘 was really good and enough for two. Also to start I would suggest the tuna.

I had the best jam here, house made. This place definitely was my jam. I was informed that all of the food was locally sourced. The muffins, yummy and buttery and salty.I had the herb and mushroom eggs which were divine creamy and just so good. I got to try the Benedict, mmm. The brisket tho,that, that was dang good.

By far the best seafood Paella I have EVER had. All of the seafood was cooked to perfection, the rice complemented all the protein perfectly, and the entire dish was an absolute masterpiece.

The food is well prepared in an open kitchen that is efficient and clean. It's a great spot for groups to come and sit around in the lounge style seating. Great small plates and sharing dishes. The thing that always draws me here is the bar menu. They have excellent house cocktails and their bartenders are professionals. Every drink is exceptional.

Had a great breakfast here yesterday. Super chill vibes and very tasty breakfast burrito. Order this pastry which looked better than it tasted a the pastry was super dry but the homemade whip cream and strawberries tasted good. Bloody Mary’s are very tasty !

Went there for dinner after my sons wedding. The food was amazing. The atmosphere was wonderful. The staff was very accommodating. But I think a little overwhelmed by the number of ppl in our party. My meal was almost forgotten. We had to remind the wait staff. That said. They were busy and I guess possibly under staffed. I still recommend the restaurant.

Fantastic paella. Our waitress was amazing! We had the seafood paella and the house paella and they were plenty for three hungry people. They are BIG! Loaded with fresh and delicious seafood. 10/10 will come back again!

Very good food. Brunch. Ordered a breakfast burrito and the sage/ egg scramble. Both were full of flavor. Paired with a bloody mary- did you know their drink menu lists several bloody mary options? Very true. Must have: english muffins. Don't ask, just order and you won't be disappointed. Sunday brunch is busy, small bar- bar seats- take that option if you can. Bartender provides some solid service. Eclectic seating area. A must try. Well done, Local 188.

Suggestion: potatos bravas, sushito pepper (if on the menu), seafood paella, peach cobbler.

Delicious. Fresh. Vibrant. All the flavors and the grilled bread was delicious.

Stumbled upon Local 188 after the place down the block said there was a 45 min wait. I am really happy I did! The ambiance was really nice and the food and beverages were phenomenal! I love that they support local farmers and produce markets. I recommend the corn beef hash, pancake, or the mushroom goat cheese omelet you won't be disappointed. I can't wait to visit from NJ again.
