Plato's Closet

Drove my wife and daughter here. and they loved it. Clothing is good quality, clean, and well-organized. Staff was friendly and helpful. Will definitely go again.
Although most of the clothing seems to be for girls and young women, there are also some items for men, and more mature women.
Located near Home Depot, and with plenty of parking.
Plato's Closet also buys used clothing, but is pretty selective and doesn't pay much. I think they pay in store credit.

A place designed typically for teens & young adults but I'm older and have been in a few times. Tonight I went in and found the staff to be most pleasant, clothes were well organized on their racks with a wide selection of sizes. I noticed other adults shopping too, so I wasn't made to feel I didn't belong. I scored a pretty sweater with its tag still on. Expect to find brand named items at prices greater than you'd pay at the local thrift store. I'm grateful Plato's Closet is here in our community!

Love the staff here! Service is great! I appreciate them helping me make space in my wardrobe!

Still love going here. Still love doing business with them, I feel like they are the fairest when it comes to consignment shops in Maine and selling used clothes. With that being said, I’ve always encountered really nice workers, the first time was amazing and they were all so friendly and extremely accommodating when it came to me shopping alone with my two babies. This is the reason I kept returning. Unfortunately, all the nice ones have disappeared… now go in and am not even acknowledged. There’s one really nice girl and also a man who’s super great at his job. Other than that, there are a lot of snobs who need to be corrected because it’s definitely bad for business. Maybe it’s because I’m not white??? Idk lots of cold shoulders nowadays, but I have FAITH that this problem can be resolved 🤞

Great spot to find good deals on second hand items. I have had very friendly encounters with staff here and they were very helpful. Best thrift store in Portland.

Sooo many cute clothes at great prices! Love crop tops, flowy pants and tye dye which I found plenty of. I’d describe the majority as skater, hippie, boho, modern. Will make it a point to go whenever I’m in Portland!

The low prices here are absolutely incredible, especially when you compare them to how much you'd pay for the same shirt/jacket/shoes/etc new. All around a great place- saving people money, saving the environment, AND putting money back out into our community. Everything I've bought here I love and if I don't, they have a 7 day return policy! The employees are kind, helpful, thoughtful, and just real people who love their job. 100/10 would recommend especially if you're a person who loves style but is on a strict budget- something we can all relate to during this pandemic.

I am a regular shopper as I come to Portland pretty often. The staff are really kind, helpful, and are just overall sweet people. You cannot expect that everything is perfect, and as many of them are young I believe they do very very well. I love the promos but I am happy to write this review. I really enjoy the Instagram updates, and the fun racks that they have. Their Instagram page is run very well, and honestly, prices are very reasonable. There are not many places that you buy jeans for under $20 that easily cost over $60 somewhere else. I will continue to shop here, and I hope everyone can see what a value they are to your wardrobe!

Love this place! Cute cloths, I always find something for a great price. I’ve also sold quite a few things here. They are selective with their buys but that’s why their cloths are nice. When my out of town friends come to visit they always want to go to platos closet with me! But the real seller for me is the friendly staff ♥I have a 1 year old that I usually bring shopping with me and the staff is always so sweet and accommodating doing things like giving me the biggest dressing room and coming up to offer to take my bundle of cloths so I don’t have to carry them. My son loves interacting with them and that’s a huge seller for me, keep it up!

Love this store! I have found the most amazing clothes here everything is in good condition and the price is unbeatable. The staff is also so friendly. Highly recommend if you are looking for a sustainable way to shop or if you’re looking to sell some of your clothes

SUCH a great place to find amazingly priced name brand clothes! Not going to lie half of my wardrobe is from Platos! North Face, Patagonia, Nike, Abercrombie, PAC Sun, you name it! And they have a great selection of men’s wear and shoes! The staff are amazing and always so helpful and nice! Highly recommend! ❤✨

Super great experience! Their reopening event was huge and amazing. We got there at 9:50, the event started at 10. There was a huge line, but by 10 we were in the store. So many gently used items for reasonable prices, even some with new tags! It was amazing! Yes, there was obviously an issue with lines but if you’re going to an event like this it’s to be expected. The wait in line was well worth the amazing prices, other customers complaining about it was the only unpleasant part of the visit. Once I got to the counter to pay my cashier (I think she’s the owner!) was AMAZING. Super sweet and present in our conversation despite the chaos. I really appreciated that. I got a pair of vans for $14, my friend got Birks for $35, there was so many great deals on brand names! Great job, Plato’s!

My friend told me about Platos Closet when I moved to Southern Maine and now it's where I get the majority of my clothes! The styles are always on trend, the prices are great, and the staff are always friendly and willing to help you shop. I especially love that they put out new clothing all the time so you're not looking through the same things every time you go! Highly recommend!!

LOVE this store! I don’t buy fast fashion, so finding a second hand store with such high quality items has been a lifesaver! I love the days they have a clearance rack. The sporty/work out clothes are always a great find at Plato’s. The shoe selection is usually great, too. They have a mens sections!!!

The team that works here is so sweet! They’re always laughing with each other behind the counter and making it enjoyable for everyone that comes in. I sell to this location often and their payouts are always fair and consistent. Great clothing selection that rotates quickly -this is a hard working team that is always updating the floor! Best Plato’s I’ve been to hands down!

Great selection of teen clothes and shoes. My girls left with lots of new to them items for back to school.
Was very busy and a long wait for the dressing rooms. Should have a better process for the fitting rooms.

This thrifts store is my go-to for clothing. First of all, I love that you can bring in clothes and get paid for them in cash immediately which is unlike any other consignment shop I’ve been to. Also, the staff is amazing! They’ve always been so kind and eager to help me. Lastly, I can’t leave Plato’s without clothes in hand because everything they offer is SO cute. I can’t wait until they reopen ❤

I visited Platos a few weeks ago and picked up a great pair of Frame denim for an awesome price! The associates at the counter were fun & friendly, with witty banter & they signed me up to receive text alerts about sales when I asked how I could find out about awesome deals. A really great experience :)

I absolutely love this store! So many options to look through I almost never leave the store without something I have fallen in love with! I pick up so many items I usually am carrying wayyy more than my arms can hold and the staff always offers to hold my things while I shop, it’s phenomenal the care they show their customers :) The staff is so amazing there and the store itself has a great vibe. My best friend and I love going up there together for day trips, it’s always such a fun place to shop :)
