Independent Import Service - Bosch Car Service

TL;DR; An understandable mistake happened while servicing my car, but they did the right thing and repaired my car fully at their own cost. They have the highest integrity of any mechanic shop I've known.

I've been using them to service my Mini Cooper since I moved to Utah 2 years ago. Recently I came in for a 75k service and they let me know my clutch was at it's very end of life. I had seen the signs of slippage, so I had them replace the clutch. This is when things started to go wrong, but ultimately their integrity is top class as they made me whole at their cost.
There was an understandable mistake made while replacing the clutch and I got my car back with air in the hydraulics. My first real trip with it warmed up the fluid enough that there were serious issues shifting gears. I returned it to them that day and they figured out how it happened and I'm certain they won't make that mistake again. They had never detached the hydraulic transmission lines, but they surmise that due to it being only a clamp on hose, that there was enough tension to let air seep in while they had it to the side.
Eventually there was some new grinding issue on downshifting from 4th to 3rd that wasn't resolving. I gave them the car to investigate further and they determined that the only next viable step forward was to replace the manual transmission. They did the replacement and checked everything out thoroughly and then told me that they did it all at their cost.
They've earned my unending trust for their level of integrity throughout this.

Best Auto Shop I've ever been to. When you first get there and meet the mechanic you'll be like "WOW! He is such a nice guy! I hope he's as good a mechanic as he is personable!" and the answer is absolutely YES. His prices are reasonable for sure, and he knows a ton about cars, especially BMWs (which can leave some mechanics a little out of their element, but not this guy.) He'll get the job done right, and he'll do it in such a timely manner. He also takes the initiative to go above and beyond by making sure the other important parts of the car are working well and there aren't other issues besides what he is in there to fix. If he finds other issues he makes sure to let you know what they are and how serious they are and what it may cost to fix them. After I took my car there he wrote me a personalized thank you card and sent it in the mail. Just outstanding quality service. 10/10 DEFINITELY RECOMMEND, especially for any BMW drivers. He's got my business for any future car issues, for sure.

I crashed my bike across the street in front of their shop and they stopped what they were doing on a car to rush over, run across the street and check if I was ok. They asked questions to make sure I didn’t have a concussion, made sure I had no broken bones, and when they noticed my bike chain had fallen off, they put it back so that my hurt hands wouldn’t have to deal with it. I have no idea if the service they offer in relation to cars is good, but I do know that they are nice people and will take care of you. Would definitely go there if i owned a car.

This place is awesome. I’ve taken my car there twice and everyone I talked to was always super nice and knowledgeable. They were really fast too and I got my car back in 1-2 days both times. Plus they have a couple really cute dogs so that’s fun. I’ll definitely go back the next time my stupid Mini Cooper breaks down.

Thayne and Matt are two honest men you can trust. I took my Subaru Forester there several times and they have always taken great care of me. Their mechanics are all good men, I've never felt unsure or that I was being cheated which is a real problem I've had at other shops. I would recommend Independent Imports to anyone looking for good honest service.

They were very friendly and hard working to find out what was wrong with my convertible top and get it fixed. They went above and beyond what any other auto shop would have done to research and fix the problems that I had. Their service has always been prompt, thorough and honestly the best that I have ever had from an auto repair shop. I would highly recommend them to anyone that has an import that wants the best service out there for the best price.

Ind. Import has serviced our car many times (preventative and correction). If you have a German-built car these guys are your experts. They stand by their work, too. There was an instance where Thayne (the owner) took our car back in and reworked a complicated, previous job free of charge, which otherwise would have been hundreds of dollars in labor. Lower prices than the dealership and better quality work. The staff is incredibly friendly - Matt, the service manager, is particularly awesome. Sad to be leaving the area but if I can come back I will.

They've made us loyal customers and we'll recommend them to everyone we know.

You cooperated with me and helped me fix my window regulator on a Friday afternoon so I didn't have to spend the weekend in the cold. You didn't turn me away or even say that I needed to schedule an appointment. You let me propose a solution and then you solved my problem and charged less than the dealer would have. You were kind and pleasant to converse with as well. I will certainly keep your business in mind when my car needs work in the future.

I have been going to independant import for years now. The quality and service are by far the best, especially if you own a BMW. The possible extra you might pay is well worth the quality and expertise you will recieve. These guys are great!

Finding an honest and capable mechanic is priceless. He is very knowledgeable about BMWs and puts real time into making sure he knows what's really wrong. So many mechanics fall for the "red herring." The customer service is stellar as well. Winston the poodle is a gem.
