Day by Day Cafe

Service was excellent. I had the breakfast sandwich and fruit, my companion had bacon, eggs and toast. We both had orange juice. It was all very tasty. The waiter was responsive and took good care of us.

Stopping here was my treat after a visit to the dentist (no Novocain). I had cheesy hash browns with egg and Bobby had the buckwheat pancakes, full stack. My English muffin came nicely crisp, just as I had ordered (I think Day by Day is the only breakfast place that manages to do a crisp one) and the egg, perfect as well. A side of half bacon, half sausage offered tasty full-flavored meats we quite enjoyed. The buckwheat pancakes with blueberries were massive and delicious. Service here is extraordinary. We ate on the patio which has a delightful ambience with a goldfish pond, plantings, and sculpture. This is a quirky, fun, and delicious breakfast and lunch stop. Do try it.

First experience coming here. What a quaint place with a great menu. The food was outstanding! Highly recommend. We'll definitely return.

My new favorite breakfast place! The vanilla latte was delicious, the bacon was crispy, all the food was great. Our server was attentive in spite of being very busy. Our food came quickly and the bill wasn't too high.

This is a great little Cafe in a charming part W 7th. The food was tasty and the prices are quite reasonable. The corned beef sandwich was very, very good! Service was quick and we loved the quirky decor - each room of the building has a different theme.

Day by Day is a place that I frequent on occasion with friends and family, particularly for their breakfast food. It should be noted that they serve their breakfast portion of the menu all day, which is awesome!
The "throwback" style restaurant offers a lovely environment/atmosphere that serves people from all walks of life. There is plenty of seating. The ambience is relaxing and comfortable with nice views, especially for a restaurant located in the middle of the city.
Because it is planted in the city on busy West 7th Street, sometimes finding parking can be a little challenging as street parking is the only option. That said, it is well worth it!
The menu has many classic "greasy spoon" style favorites, but also some interesting options found only at a non-franchise spot like this with great cooks/chefs.
The wait-staff here are notably people who are more seasoned/professional servers. They take pride in their job. They are a talented bunch who fulfil your dining needs without you even having to ask while being fun conversationalists, and all of this while serving you with a smile.

This place is a hidden gem in St. Paul!

I had a great time here. We sat on the patio in back and if the weather is to your liking I highly recommend it. It is shaded with trees, filled with plants and has a Koi pond.

The food was delicious. I’d especially like to recommend the French Toast. :-)

Good food. Beautiful outdoor and indoor dining options. Good value. Friendly staff. And it supports a wonderful cause. I got their breakfast special - eggs, hash browns, bacon, and toast. It was all great - like a home cooked meal. Fresh strong coffee too! They don’t have a parking lot, but there seems to be ample parking on nearby streets. It is an excellent venue for a breakfast or lunch meeting - for business or with friends. I hear they even have a live band indoors on Sunday mornings.

If you haven’t tried Day by Day, do so soon. I’m sure you’ll be back too.

The garden in the back is absolutely spellbinding (there was even a puppy!). Food is delicious and well priced. Staff are all very kind and informative. Must see in the west end

Had a really great breakfast today, generously portioned and beautifully made. Avocado in my omelet was perfectly creamy and ripe. Love the multi grain toast, seeded and fancy. Brisk, friendly service. A great neighborhood place.

First, the eggs Benedict is the best, and I consider myself an expert. Second, they were so kind and generous to my dog on the patio. They gave her a lil bacon and sausage treat (of course, with my permission) and some head rubs. Now, when we walk by, my dog stops outside the restaurant door and tries to pull me inside! Five stars from me, five stars from the dog ❤

Great people and soul to the establishment. The patio is beautiful and a must if a nice day. There will most likely be bee's. Sit in the library for a small town lunch and learn. The coffee leaves something to be desired, but I get it every time as it reminds me of home. Service is always accomidating. The food options are vast. A bad idea for the person who is indecisive as it gives too much to ponder over. The French toast and pancakes are great, as is the salmon scramble.
