Ming Cheng Restaurant

Place is a Hole-in-the-wall needs drastic overhaul. Booths are hard to sit in walls bare floor cracked. But the the food. Delicious! Every item I have tried cooked perfectly. Woman (owner?) at counter always smiling and helpful with questions. My go-to Chinese food.

The restaurant itself is pretty bare and doesn’t have the best atmosphere, but considering the reviews, the food is really good! Stopped by for carry-out and ordered sweet and sour chicken with fried rice and a spring roll, and the food was fresh and tasted great! Servers were a bit quiet but still friendly, and the restaurant was clean.

I go at least twice a week, I'm a former cook for ten years, I love the place, the 2 I always see there are extremely nice, and the foods never been not really great in my opinion and I love the pork bits in the rice, and usually hate onions in my rice, but they Sautee them great and big pieces.

It's my favorite spot for comfort food. I've been going here for almost 10 years. Really good portions and food for a college budget. Never waiting longer than 10mins.

The restaurant was clean and quiet. The food was fresh and full of flavor.

The service was great. No BS or small talk which I respect.

I don't know why the people in the reviews below mine went in and expected to be catered to like the president. Do you realize how hard it is to come to the US, open a business and learn the language? Give them a break.

To the person below that bashed the kid behind the counter for staring at them when they were ordering. Where do you want him to look? The ceiling? His phone?

He was being attentive and made sure nothing got lost in translation. He did his job well.

Ordered sweet and sour chicken lunch combination comes with pork fried rice, huge pieces of pork unlike other places. Food was ready fast and is delicious 😋

Consistent Chinese food, excellent quantity and quality for the price. The woman (owner?) just doesn't do small talk, she's not rude. Food's always done quickly. And they're open until 10:30 which puts them ahead of many restaurants, in my book. I recommend.

This long time staple in Kent has fed students and family alike. The owners children went to school with mine. You will always get good home made Chinese comfort food with the same quality time and time again. I am grateful to have had this restaurant and this family in my life through the long years I lived there. Thank you to Dillion, Betty, and Family ♥🌼♥

Great food, no msg. Fresh, fast. Sauces are very good. Been eating here for along time, and have always had a good meal. Family owned, they are always friendly and very eager to make sure you are pleased.

Rated the wrong restaurant? They are friendly, they do take credit cards, and the husband/wife owners speak English. Their son and daughter sometimes work there, too, and they speak flawless English. We've been eating here weekly for more than 20 years. The wife recognizes our voices over the phone and when we place an order she mentions if a particular favorite of ours is available that night.

We got the barbequed spare ribs, chicken chow mein, and chicken broccoli combination last night and they were delicious. We paid with a credit card. Every time we visit, the place is packed with hungry Asian people, even though there is a Thai restaurant and a Chinese buffet next door. They must be doing something right.

The wife is not chatty on the phone, but I appreciate being able to place my order so quickly. I want food, not conversation. When I arrive she is usually helping prepare the food, taking phone orders, and accepting payment...all at once! Ming Cheng's efficient operation is what keeps the prices so reasonable.

Been going here since I was little. A special spot me and grandma had! The best Chinese food by far in Portage County.

I had quit eating Chinese takeout because it all tasted like they were using old dried-up chicken, etc. Thought I'd give Ming Cheng a try. Wow...fresh, large portions, and the owner ( I think) even smiled, which is more than I can say about some of the others.

Best take out Chinese in Kent. The rice alone makes this place the best. Can't beat the price for the amount of food you get. Very reliable and dependable unlike 90% of others in the area that constantly change.

Good food, cheap and fast. Nice staff, the lady was really patient with me and my bad pronunciation of the menu items lol. Would come again

Hands-down one of the best fast Chinese food restaurants in Kent!! Their chicken and broccoli in brown sauce is the best around!
