Southern Inn Restaurant

Had an excellent meal for my daughter's birthday at the Southern Inn Restaurant. This is the second time eating here and both times have been a great experience. The food was perfectly prepared and tasted great. We ordered the lamb meatballs for an appetizer to share. For our mains we had shrimp & grits, grilled salmon, duck breast, and the special of the day, seared tuna. We all sampled each other's plate and every one was very well prepared and cooked as requested. I highly recommend making a reservation as even on a Wednesday, it was quite busy. Great choice when dining in Lexington.

We literally stumbled upon this marvelous restaurant on a locals recommendation. The hostess was sweet and charming... But Miss Whitney made my birthday dinner extra special. She was attentive and personal yet professional at the same time. The food was fabulous like we've never tasted before! Highly recommend this charming establishment tucked in downtown!

We were lucky enough to pick up a no-shows reservation on a Friday evening. Service was slow, but we weren't in a rush. I really enjoyed the burger, it had great flavor and was cooked perfectly.

The best place in town for southern food in a fine dining environment. The fried chicken is delicious, as is the calf’s liver.

Best food in 5 states. Great server. Great menue. Excellent 👍 deserts. Nice wine list. Moderate by the glass prices. Depending upon what you order $$ to $$$$. Expert tip...try and get the table nearest to the kitchen, it has a big picture window, so if your a foodie...you can watch your entire meal from scratch.

The food was very tasty and the staff super friendly.

We ordered the chicken fried steak and waffles off the brunch menu and the fried chicken off the lunch menu.

Both dishes came out warm but would have been better if they were hot. Not sure why fried steak and chicken would come out warm, since fried dishes usually come out piping hot.

The pecan pie was delicious.

Excellent restaurant!! The squash soup with apples tasted great. They added just enough apples not to overwhelm the squash. Brussel sprouts were crispy without being burnt. The strip steaks was flavorful, especially with the garlic black butter. The potatoes were tender with out being mushy. The veggies were cooked to a perfect crisp. My college son inhaled their chicken penne pasta. The service was great! I walked in 45 minutes before closing and everything was amazing. Everything was perfect until the waitress suggested the banana fosters bread pudding. I said why not, and shared it with my son. Worst mistake ever. We eneded up looking like we came from district 12 in the hunger games. Next time I will just order two not to embarrass myself.

Everything about this restaurant was 5 stars except the drinks-20 🌟 for those. The staff was very welcoming and prompt. The tables were well spaced out. All of our food was so delicious and fresh.

Excellent food and excellent service. Very reasonable prices for the food and the atmosphere. The pork tenderloin eggs Benedict was fantastic. And the hibiscus mimosa was a wonderful accompaniment to brunch. I would definitely recommend a visit here.

Food was excellent. We had the Fried pimento to start with then the Southern fried Chicken with mashed potatoes and steamed vegetables. It was all very good. Staff was super nice and the place was spotless.

Definitely recommend this place! The portions are a healthy size and they are a little on the pricey side but good quality! The service was great and it seems like a lot of locals love this place. It made for a great date night for us!

My wife surprised me with this nice little find. Enjoyed a beer with friends. This place has a pretty diverse selection. I went with the special of the day, Flounder (pictured). The waitress was top notch and would go back just to have her again. They even surprised me with a birthday dessert.

We were so blessed by this meal and service. I have been blessed to eat in some the best, finest, most well known restaurants in the world and throughout the USA. I have eaten food prepared by some of the best chefs in the USA as well. Their fried chicken signature meal (50 year old private recipe) is by far one of the best dinners I have ever had. I also had a lavender ice tea to go with it. The flavors were simply amazing. The meal was so good I asked to speak to chief (his name was Tony) to tell him what a wonderful meal it was and to encourage them to create a cook book, which I would purchase in a heart beat.

Hard to resist . We LOVED our first time here in 2018, but thought of trying another restaurant only because there are some really good choices in the city . But we couldn’t resist returning this year and had another excellent experience. Impeccable service , wonderful presentation and excellent seasoning and flavor of everything we’ve tried so far. Rear dining room is preferred.

We were driving through Lexington on our way home and spotted this place to eat. We were seated quickly and our waitress was also quick with getting our orders. I ordered an Italian Cream Soda (strawberry), which cost $4 and the meatloaf meal, which was $10. Everything was delicious and the portion size was perfect in my opinion. Highly recommend giving this place a try.

Very nice. Are at the outside dining area set in the back parking lot. They did very well to make it appealing. Had the Pork Belly entree and it was amazing. The pork was fall apart yummy. Service was on point and super friendly. I would highly recommend. While I did not partake is the house special drinks the bartender who worked the floor was very knowledgeable about the drinks and the wine selection.

The food was delicious! The atmosphere is very elegant and yet comfortable also. The staff is very friendly and very professional. The best part about going here was the ambiance of the interior. The decor was some mid century modern and some eclectic elegant. The presentation of the food was awesome as well!

Enjoyed going to the bar last night. Not a party atmosphere, rather a casual drinking spot. I mean sure there was a drunk girl getting a little crazy, but all in all a great spot to check out if your a social butter fly.
Its pricey tho. $$$
If your looking for chikas - don't be shocked if there are less women in the bar then men.

Fantastic does not begin to describe the meal and the service. Amazing, delicious, beautiful food and cozy atmosphere. Perfect for our 3rd anniversary. #HeavyGapproved

Have been eating here since I was a cadet forty years ago. It was a simpler place then (bring back lasagne!) but it is still the best place to eat in Lexington. Our server Karen was on her game and the food was fantastic. My better half had the scallops and I had the tuna special. Both were excellent. Karen’s suggestions on ice cream flavors were on point. Highly recommend.
