I don’t do usually do this, but this restaurant warrants 5 stars across all categories.

Wow…so happy we stumbled in this place. One of the best burgers we’ve ever had…I’d say #1!!! The portion, the freshness…absolutely delicious. Also had the BLT and it’s was very, very tasty. Both came with French fries which were also fresh and crispy with a wonderfully soft middle.

Delicious desserts are also offered…we tried the apple cobbler with ice cream!!! Delicious!!!

And lastly, the service was fantastic. Our server was super friendly and very pleasant.

We stopped by for food to go. Out of the three of us we all enjoyed our food. Because I am predominantly a vegetarian I didn't feel that they had much of a selection for me. I did ask them to use a pan because of my food allergies and they did just that. I only got a grilled cheese. My friends did get a steak sub and chicken sub that they really enjoyed. The atmosphere is simple and nothing special but allows you to eat at Gertie's.

Don’t let the outside fool you! This is some of the best food on the west side of VA! Cone hungry and leave satisfied.

We went out of our way from 81 south to go to Gertie's cause of the reviews and pictures and boy did It DELIVER.

The service is fast and respectful, quiet eating area, food does take a little time to prepare if you're used to inner city pace. But it was delicious!!!

Make sure you get the Ruben tho, it was amazing!

Make the stop! Friendly people, quick pretty drive from the interstate, food is delicious. Gluten free options!

This place is awesome. It's hidden away in a little town just off the parkway. The food is excellent, like literally everything we have had off the menu has been great. The prices are good, and the servings are large. There are only a handful of tables but the restaurant has a cool hiker-inspired vibe that is chill and inviting. I will definitely keep coming back whenever I'm in the area and recommend others do as well.

I got two Gertie burgers with the brussel sprouts, fries and two blackberry cobblers. The burgers were juicy, the sprouts were fantastic, and the homemade cobbler was perfect. We love this place and tell everyone about it.

We don't often get appetizers, but decided to get a basket of sweet potato fries as we had two young children with us. They were served with a very delicious dipping sauce!
I got the cheese steak with a side of sweet potato fries for my entree. I got the cheese steak loaded, and it totally was worth it!
Nice, small dining rooms with a great country feel to them. It feels like you've stepped back in time (in a good way!).

A wonderful little gem. We started with the special.....kielbasa soup. Delicious!!!!! The grill cheese and the burger were awesome! Thank you owners Jake and Kaylee. We even got to write our names on the dining room wall. Such a special place.

This mom and pop restaurant is amazing. They are tucked in the back woods and a very small location. Very friendly and food is all 100% fresh made to order. They do close early, but that is a small sacrifice for the quality of food and service. Definitely a must go to if you are around the area.

Whether you’re just having a sweet tea and a turkey club sandwich, or a hearty thick bologna, and Swiss cheese sandwich with a cold beer, Gerties has got you covered. This is a great place to go to hang out with friends and family on the weekend with a good old fashion country setting. The service was outstanding and the food was excellent. Definitely recommend the cheese steak sub and onion rings.

This is a 5 star good old homemade country location! I absolutely love this spot. We are so glad we popped in. Everyone was warm and welcoming; food was hot, well seasoned, and delicious 😋.

My family and I were driving down the blue ridge parkway, and I was given the responsibility of finding something to eat. I chose Gertie’s because it had 5 stars and was close. What a great stroke of luck. The establishment had an extremely homey feel, we were immediately accommodated and showed to the outdoor seating under the awning in the back . The food was absolutely delicious! I had the Italian Sub with French fries and onion rings, all perfect. Probably the best Italian sub I’ve ever had. Over the course of our 10 day trip, I would say this was the best food I had. As an added bonus, they also sold locally sourced foods, wines, etc! Amazing location, I will be back! ( eventually)

After a week hiking around the area we stopped in on our way home. This is a nice little place. Small menu and the food was done well. The place has charm, and the staff were friendly and welcoming.

This place is small, but don't let that fool you! They have awesome food and staff! Also, have a gift section! Support this small local business!

Awesome food. Burger and fries for me. Cood just right, thick and full of flavor.
Would go again, only 7 tables. So you might have to wait.

1/2 lb. burger, toasted bun, w/LTM was the best I've had in a long time. A quaint locals place hidden away in Vesuvius VA.

Gertie's was an unexpected treat hidden near Crabtree Falls. The writing and sculptures made of old tools on the wall set a fun, casual ambiance. Although small, Gertie's offers a range of menu items at a reasonable price. If you go there when they're having the brisket sandwich, be sure to get it and try the sweet potato fries, too!
