Loved this place. Big but cozy restaurant for delicious clams (we had the thai curry and it was a fantastic surprise), beef was perfectly cooked and nice presentation and the berry pavlova (which we share between 3) was delicious! I really recomend this place for happy hour or any time.

We went here on a holiday weekend and it was fantastic! We had the curry mussels which I think I devoured the broth it was so good!! Pizza was good and I had a delicious Paloma. Was a great spot for a quick bite and and drink. We liked it because it felt like a quality restaurant, not some chain restaurant. Great view of Glebe Road and great service we will definitely come back for dinner!

Best spot in Arlington for a nice dinner or special date night, great HH too. For what you get the prices are a bargain, some of the highest quality seafood around. Highly recommend the muscle pots and the oysters, crab dip for the app is also insane. Our server Evan was a true professional, we ask for him every single time and he goes above and beyond with no exception. Can’t recommend this spot enough, between the service and the food it will not disappoint.

I had an absolutely amazing experience with my wonderful server Evan! He made my birthday dinner one to remember! Not only was he super attentive, he even had great conversation that truly made me feel special for my big day. He is a gem!
The steak frites were cooked to perfection and the side salad was great although I thought I wasn’t a big salad person before. Overall 10/10 would recommend!

Mussel Bar & Grille is the second Robert Wiedmaier restaurant I recently tried. Much different in style than suburban, Potomac, MD, white tablecloth Lock 72 MB&G has an urban contemporary industrial interior architectural look and vibe with theatrical lighting and interesting sight lines. MB&G’s dark grey concrete bar top is perfect for serving piping hot mussels in a 15 inch cast iron skillet placed directly on the bar top that I ordered. I began with a fresh baguette and butter and a Negroni that the bartender, Melvin, made using my recipe - 1 shot gin, 1/2 shot Campari, 1/4 shot sweet vermouth, stirred with ice and strained into a rocks glass. I enjoyed a glass sauvignon blanc with the mussels. I ended having menu titled dessert Death by Chocolate guessing that is Mr. Wiedmaier’s way of saying the colloquial, to die for chocolate. It was delicious chocolate cake having a scoop of chocolate ice cream on top. The cake and ice cream was surrounded by a dusting of chocolate crumbs on the white porcelain dessert plate. I paired black french press coffee and a shot of Kahlua on the side with the cake and ice cream. I believe the french press coffee was brewed using coffee beans from St. Lucia. That is what is used at the L72 restaurant according to Randy, bartender, at L72. I like everything about this spot from the fresh ingredients used in thoughtfully prepared dishes that are artfully plated and presented to the architectural aesthetic and knowledgeable, friendly staff.

Denouement to my dinner. One last look at the menus before leaving I noticed Pisco Sour on the drinks menu (I ordered Negroni without reading the drinks menu) that I am accustomed to seeing only in Peruvian restaurants with the exception of the great Cuban restaurant Omega that was on Columbia Road in Adams Morgan that closed in 1990 after approximately 3 decades of doing business. Prepared to request my check I mentioned to Melvin that I learned of the unique drink from the wonderful Peruvian restauranteur Angel Asturrizaga and his recipe in the 1970’s at his restaurant Llama in Chicago. I use his recipe when making them at home for myself and guests. I also mentioned to Melvin that in other restaurants serving PS I have ordered the drink it has always been served with a dash of bitters on top of the meringue. In my experience only Angel micro planed dash of fresh nutmeg on top. I couldn’t leave without test drinking MB&G’s PS. So, I drank some water and was delightfully astonished when Melvin returned with the PS he made that included dash of micro planed fresh nutmeg.

Perfect happy hour spot, Evan couldn’t have been a more gracious waiter. Oysters were superb, steak and frites were some of the best I’ve had for the price and even the salad was great.

Good patio too for the summer time I could imagine but I didn’t get a chance to sit outside.

Amazing place for fresh oysters and mussels. Great variety of Belgium beers too. Their burger is really good too. Great deal for Belgium’s Independence Day (July 21st and 2 days after) 1$ oysters and 4$ Belgium beer. They also have a fantastic happy hour with 2$ oysters (on the weekends as well, which is rare). Service was superb!

We stayed in Arlington for a weekend and I love raw oysters so since this was just a short walk from the hotel, we decided to go there.

We made it during the beginning of Happy Hour so the place wasn't crowded. It was well-staffed and the employees were all great--very attentive and friendly.

We ordered Chincoteage oysters (we love Chincoteague), blue crab dip, Margherita pizza, wings, and later on, my husband brought me one of their desserts.

Everything was really great. I don't see the wings on their online menu so maybe they're in the middle of an update, but I believe they were seasoned with rosemary. My husband was really impressed and didn't even use the delicious dip served with them. You can't go wrong with crab dip or pizza.

I'm not sure what the dessert was, but it tasted like something you'd be judging on Top Chef--light, flavorful, subtle.

I was amazed at the bill. I think the oysters must have been Happy Hour prices, but wow! I guess when you don't order drinks, that's what's to be expected by I felt like we got great value for what we paid.

I'll be returned when I'm in Arlington again and this time I'll try the mussels!

It’s always more lively sitting at the bar. Melvin is very friendly and I was asked how I was doing at least 10 times. The manager met me at the door and offered the bar seating right away. It was happy hour from 3-7pm. Melvin suggested the happy hour oysters and they were delicious. An Alsin Hazy IPA was a perfect pairing. I finished with the Kenet wood fired pizza. The flavors of the truffle oil, smoked bacon and arugula were amazing together.

I love the atmosphere here and have been several times for the mussels, which are excellent. Either for drinks and appetizers with friends or a nice dinner, this is a go to for me when I’m in the area.

OMG, my new favorite spot in Washington D.C.
The food is a work of art , from visual presentation to flavors , the best seafood I’ve had in the capital. This place fills up quickly on the weekends, inside and out. Attentive staff and exception service makes this a clear winner.
Melvin is a skilled magician with unique drink options, who made my first visit memorable! I’m looking for him anytime I’m back in town.

I love this restaurant! Been there over a dozen times. Locally owned. Brilliant mussel dishes. Andrew S. did an unparalleled job serving us tonight. We’re always happy when we come here. YouI’ll enjoy everything about it. They even picked up a Belgian wheat on tap. (Before it was lacking)

Mussel bar is a really nice venue in Arlington with great mussels (did you expect anything less) and a limited menu that includes appetizers, salads, and flat bread. We arrived on a Sunday after the brunch crowd had left, and it was not crowded at all . The bat is well stocked and made awesome bloody Mary's and Mimosa's. The wait staff was knowledgeable and attentive. The fresh bread was served warm with butter, but it was superb in the juice from the mussel entree's. We ate way more than we planned (it was that good). There is a a dessert menu, but we opted to skip dessert, despite the temptation of the cheesecake.. their is ample parking in the garage underneath the building, and we went through Total wine to get to the street and into the mussel bar. There are steps, and it can be challenging for a handicapped diner but the staff is helpful and courteous. Our experience was wonderful, the food and beverages delightful. If you are not in a mussel mood, the salads and the hamburger are really good. I hope you enjoy it as much as we did.

Had a fantastic dinner here! Our waiter Hayden was awesome, quick and attentive but not to the point of interrupting our time together. The manager also stopped by to check how we were doing. The food was great and the service was quick!

Stopped by for a happy hour and had a blast. I'm an Old Fashioned snob and Mussel Bar's Old Fashioned knocked my socks off. Pair that with some tasty food and I was won over. I shall be back!
