We heard positive feedback about this Italian restaurant in downtown Falls Church and are pleased to say that it lived up to its reputation. Every dish we ordered went well with our drinks, and the Squid Ink Linguine was terrific! Our server suggested the olive cake, and it was a hit. We especially appreciated that it wasn't dry like other places we tried. The dishes were heavenly, and we plan to return to sample more of the restaurant's offerings.

Love it! Everything was extraordinary! The focaccia bread with evo, complimentary fennel soup were great. We ordered the octopus, paparaddle and cavatelli. My favorite was the mafaldine, the mushroom aroma was so intense and the texture of the pasta are on point.

The restaurant is only open around 5PM. They have a small menu for food (just in one A4 page) and my expectations are HIGH when I see a small menu. I would say the portions were smaller than I expected but the food quality was top-notch. I had the short ribs and saffron linguine for entrée. They were flavorful and cooked perfectly. Desserts: Olive Oil cake and Pumpkin Tiramisu (on the house from the manager <3).
The staff was really nice as well which made my experience at the restaurant perfect. Not in the photo (the best balsamic vinegar). 1000% I will come back for more.

Been here multiple times and happy to say that the food is still just as delicious as when we first came here over a year ago! I often avoid ordering spaghetti when I go to restaurants but this is the only place that my husband and I will race to see who gets to order the spaghetti (and not share). Last night we had the rigatoni as well and needless to say, no plate was left empty. The portions are perfect and service was equally as wonderful.

The squid ink dish was filling and tasty. The garlic bread appetizer was fine, nothing special. The lasagna from the restaurant week menu was AMAZING! The desserts were also very filling and delectable. The service was top notch and we were seated promptly with our reservation.

One of my favorite places for dinner in Falls Church. I have had the pleasure of eating here twice . Amazing experience both times. The food is fresh and delicious. The drinks are good too. I appreciate the staff being friendly and welcoming.

Came here for company holiday dinner event. I had the chef special - mushroom lasagna. Let me tell you, this was hands down one of the most delicious lasagna I've ever had. I finished off with their coconut tapioca pudding.

Visiting this restaurant was long overdue. So happy that we came to celebrate our anniversary. The food was next level, every bite was full of flavor without being overpowering, well thought out menu and great execution.

Thompson Italian deserves every bit of this 5-star rating. Food, atmosphere, service - all were superb. My wife and I haven't had a meal this enjoyable in months, we will absolutely be back!

The best thing I can say is that my wife is vegetarian and usually has about 3 choices on any given menu, including a garden salad and a fried appetizer. TI has a plethora of vegetarian options that appeal to omnivores as well (although the ricotta cavatelli with spicy sausage is 🤌🤌🤌🤌🤌🤌🤌).

Don't hesitate to check this place out.

The Farro salad was a fresh, original taste, and also very nutritional. The whipped ricotta appetizer was also fantastic. The kids meal is big enough to be shared between 2 kids up to 6 and 8 years old.

Can’t wait to come back here again. The waitstaff was very friendly and the food was delicious. I had the tagliatelle with the lamb shank ragú and I’m glad I ordered it. My girlfriend ordered the gnocchi with black truffle and mushrooms and those mushrooms were insanely good. I kept eating some off of her plate they were that good. For starters we had the roasted garlic bread which is possibly the best garlic bread I’ve had, and we also ordered the brussel sprouts which were pretty good as well.

I was so excited to finally be able to dine at this restaurant. The food was superb, pasta on point cook as it should. Amazing taste and flavor. I for sure recommend if you like Italian cuisine.

Tried the campanelle pasta with mushroom ragu, filled with umami flavor. Cute decorations. Several pasta dishes look pretty delicious and the order-online menu on their website has pictures of the dishes, no need to imagine by reading the description, how lovely! Super friendly service. Will visit again. Public parking is at the end of Park Pl road that’s a few steps north to the restaurant.

Lovely little spot with friendly staff who won't let your water ever be empty! Food came out hot and coursed well. Cocktails took a little while to make, but everything else was great. Highly recommend the Brussels and Buccatini!

Couldn’t speak highly enough about this local falls church Favorite. This place has a good service history and a good atmosphere and vibe. New creative take on old dishes and I’m satisfied. Bravo!!!

Excellent food and service. We went on their first day reopening on site dining. Only the back patio is open. There are only 6 tables, and it's reservations only. This place was on my list since they opened back in Summer 2019. Glad I was able to finally dine here. The staff is super friendly and professional. The food is some of the best Italian food we've had in a while. Even the complimentary olive oil and focaccia will knock your socks off. I'm sure once word gets out about their patio, reservations will be hard to come by. It's totally worth it.

Amazing. Would return in a heartbeat if I lived closer. They have the most amazing bread to start the table with and the pasta was amazing. (I had the gluten free pasta.) Great atmosphere and great service. I wish the weather was better so we could've eaten outside, but still a great experience. Would be a great date night spot or just a dinner/meal with friends or colleagues. Such a great find and I highly recommend going to eat here!

How have I not been going here all of these years? I'm kicking myself. The food is first rate. I don't think you're going to find anything at this level in Arlington or Falls Church. If you go with some friends do it Tapas style and everyone gets a different pasta then you can try them all. This is the pumpkin cheesecake which was a 10 out of 10.

This is the best Italian spot, if not the best restaurant, in the DC area. It’s a small menu, updated regularly, and the staff couldn’t be any more perfect. If I could only have one meal for the rest of my life, squid ink linguini and the pineapple upside-down cake. WOW!

Pleasant place with good vibe, fine service, comfortable decor, and excellent food. Despite being open only a short time, almost everything was a winner: wine, octopus, seasonal persimmon "carpaccio", black pasta with clams, cauliflower ravioli... The only off note was the bread: looked great but was surprisingly wet and gummy; easy to fix. Nice outdoor space too when the weather's nice. Glad to have a place this good so close to home!
