McHattie Park

Beautiful, well-manicured park. We only visited the Witch's Hat train depot, the caboose, and the building behind it. The people working that day were quite knowledgeable about the facility and very helpful in the museum store. They took us through the caboose! The adjacent building was having a first of its kind, free book exchange. Fun!

Great place to be for outdoor activities, picnic, sledding, walking, or just relaxing. Kids will definitely sleep after a day here.

Safe and fun sledding hill. They even put hay bales at the bottom in case you hit a tree. It is only one mound in the middle of a small park so not much variety but it is only a short 30 sec walk up so it’s easy. Good for 3+ I’m and adult and had a blast!

We love it here. We’re here just about every other week. People are friendly. There’s a convenient bathroom. And my daughter loves to spin her brains out in the flower chairs. There’s a tire swing and a wheelchair capable swing! Lots of shade! A pavilion, a gazebo, baseball diamond. It’s just perfect.

One of the few things I'll miss when I move away in 1.5 weeks.

This was a really cool place to visit even though it was after hours. There are a few cool historic buildings as well as a nice park for kids in the back. I'm looking forward to visiting again when everything is open!

One of our favorite parks. There is so much to do and great equipment. They have also become more inclusive with the addition of a swing for wheelchairs. And the Free Little Library is an added bonus.

Wonderful community park kept very clean and organized. My wife and I have gone here for years on weekends just to relax. Now that we have a child, he loves the playground! Great areas for a shade-covered lunch, plenty of sporting fields (soccer, baseball, volleyball, etc), and really close to The Witches Hat for something neat to check out. Worth your time!

Such a rich area. Good play area for kids. Nice sledding hill for Winter. Also a great walk all the way around. Go over creek from north entrance and see historical area and very well maintained Veteran Memorial.

I love McHattie park. There are play structures for various ages and plenty of seating and shade. There are also flushable bathrooms that are reasonably welcoming. Also, there are baseball fields and sand volleyball courts. Lots to do and close to the bike trail.

McHattie park is great for all ages. Lots of playground rides for kids, a pavilion with picnic tables, gazebo and lots of neat things to see. Lovely walking path and lots of Pokemon gyms and stops if you like playing.

First time I’d ever taken my kids to this park and they loved it!

My kids say this is the best park in South Lyon. Lots of different things to play on, swings, slides, teeter totters, spinners...plus picnic tables with checker boards, lol. They even have a sand area with three digging tools like backhoes, I don't see those very often and the kids love them. There are a few things here I haven't seen anywhere else. They have decent restrooms, but kind of dirty.
One warning: we saw a giant wasp nest in a tree right over a bench and my son got stung.

First time visiting the park. We just moved to the area. They have a HUGE playscape!!

Beautiful local park! Multiple large play structures, baseball field, sledding hill, skating rink in the winter, bathrooms, water fountain, biking/walking path, a castle themed "little library" and often hosts fun family events including concerts, egg hunts, candy cane hunts, and more!

Great place for kids to run around and play! I wish there was a bench facing the sand pit. My kids could play there for hours.

Love this place! Whether I'm watching the kids' ballgames, letting them play on the awesome playground, or just looking for gnomes, this park is great. There's lots of space to play and relax and it is well maintained. The only way to make it better would be to add Wi-Fi. Then I could troll others on Facebook while pretending I wasn't actually outside with my family.
