One of the must visit iconic of Brooklyn,it's located at the spacious intersection of Flatbush & union .the soldiers & sailors memorials was kinda building in memory of civil war.the arch facing the entrance of the prospect park and the Brooklyn central library .the respectful atmosphere keep this place outstanding in the neighborhood to defender of the Union 1861-1865 at the end of the walk terrace display the 15th president bust John F. Kennedy .great place

The Soldiers and Sailors Memorial Arch was designed by Hartford architect George Keller, whose ashes were buried in the east tower when he died in 1935, along with those of his wife, Mary, who died in 1946. The arch was dedicated on September 17, 1886, –the anniversary of the Battle of Antietam–to honor the 4,000 Hartford citizens who served in the Civil War, and the 400 who died for the Union.

This is in my opinion one of the best arches in the US. A brilliant example of late 19th century American craftsmenship and architectural pedigree.

Very cool historic landmark. Under scaffolding during the restoration but will be visible to the public again soon.

I love this place. My parents went there to take photos for their wedding anniversary and it was just a pleasant experience. Nice neighborhood, scenic views and nice ambience. Lots of history there too if you take the walking tour.

This arch with its stunning statues of Grant and Lincoln on horseback, along with street names like Lincoln and Union, is a reminder that this neighborhood was built in the years after the Civil War. It is really a triumphal arch. Beautifully lit at night, with gently varying shadings of color. Tastefully decorated with a Christmas Tree over the holidays, with an enormous Hannukah display across the street. This arch is a real center of the neighborhood. It marks the entrance to Prospect Park and the lovely open space behind it which Flatbush Avenue goes around. The classic Art Deco main branch of the Brooklyn Public Library complements its structure. Definitely a destination in Park Slope,

I love coming to this beautiful Arch by Grand Army Plaza. There is a wonderful park with a fountain right below it, and of course, towards the opposite side, there is the entrance to the expansive Prospect Park. Go visit!

Monument at Grand Army Plaza, right by the main Brooklyn Public Library 📚and Prospect Park 🌳🦚🍁. It is reminiscent of l'Arc de Triumphe in Paris 🇫🇷🥐🥖.

It is certainly not an Arc de Triomphe, but it does remind me more than a bit in scale and subject of the Arc de Triomphe du Carrousel located near the Louvre.
