Really good coffee with a knowledgeable barista and great roast (Passenger Coffee Roasters). Not a large space to sit in, though - might not be the best place to work from.

Tiny spot but great coffee, came on a Sunday afternoon and was pleased to not find a crowd. Doesn't have a big selection of pastries, so just came for the coffee. Will def stop by again.

Fantastic coffee. Great espresso drinks, friendly service, usually cool music. A little tiny "hole in the wall" place, so not much space to sit... however, they serve one of the best coffee in the city. Definitely the best on the Upper West Side. Enjoy!

Possibly the best coffee in Manhattan. Very friendly staff, and the pastries are delicious.

The the coffee here is amazing. However, it's tiny. This isn't the kind of place to comfortably lounge in. I recommend that you get your coffee to go. I've gotten cortados, cappuccino, and plain black coffee. They're all amazing. The pastries are good as well so feel free to grab some food on your way out.

I love how tiny this place is. It's as big as it needs to be. Just wide enough for me to go in with the stroller get my coffee and back on out. Everyone there is always very friendly, helpful and patient when you can't make up your mind or need some advice. This one of my favorite coffee shops in the city, because most importantly, the coffee is awesome!

Absolutely superb coffee shop. The baristas there have excellent pallets and take such excellent care in brewing and constructing their drinks. If you want a delicious espresso drink, this is the shop for w. If you’re interested in discovering amazing beans with expressions of craft and terroir, this is the place for you. If you want baristas to be efficient cause you have to catch that 2 train, this is the place for you. Five stars because there’s no way to give 6!

Had a really delightful single origin Ethiopian espresso and a latte with a memorable set of origin flavor notes that showed up on top of the milk without being weird or overpowering. Solid specially shop to be sure.

The place is tiny and pleasantly grungy. Perfect.

A miniscule coffee shop offering unbelievably good espresso. I'd been to their prior space in the East Village and I'm happy to report that their new location hasn't lost the quality. It's worth veering off course a couple of blocks to seek them out over settling for one of the many other coffee shops nearby, but accept that you'll be drinking your espresso Italian-style; that is, standing.

Superb cappuccino, I believe the espresso was SEY's Jhon Wilson Poveda Acevedo cup #2. The roast was perfectly light, mildly fruity notes. Nice level of extraction, the finish was very clean. The place itself is very cute (as seen in other google photos) though I don't think I would spend an hour here as seating is limited (again, as seen in photos). I had some almond pastry that was really lovely. Overall, great little hidden gem of a place in the upper west side.

Straight up excellent coffee! Farm to cup, clean beans with gorgeous tasting profiles! Coffee geeks? This is for you. Tiny establishment, one barista / cashier Sunday morning.. but she slayed with a smile and great attitude!

I this is the best coffee in New York. Period.

The coffee is only the highest quality, the baristas are obsessive and passionate, and the outcome is incredible.

Come and try one if the single origin espressos, or order the drip coffee. Whatever you enjoy, this place will take it to the next level.

You can buy Sey Coffee, Passenger coffee and Regalia here.

This hole-in-the-wall coffee shop is many baristas’ favourite place in Manhattan. I am super confident to say that this is the best espresso spot in Manhattan. From single origin to special house blend, they’ve got everything for you.

Amazing coffee. I had the best pour over, i think, ever, here. It was a gesha, and it was expensive, but my goodness it did command it. Truly a fantastic experience. So velvety, and soft acidity that blossomed, slowly.
I felt alive.

Also great beans to buy, and their triplette - espresso, macchiato, cascara tea.

fantastic place, will definitely be back

This is my favorite coffee shop near Lincoln Center! It's a very small space, but there are a few seats available. The coffee is great and the pastries are amazing! The interior is very cool, featuring this neat wallpaper.

Box Kite is undoubtedly one of my favorite coffee shops in the city. If I lived or worked closer I would come far more often!
Although the space is quite minimal, it's because nearly everything about Box Kite is focused on the coffee. That's the reason you're there; not to gawk at gratuitously trendy styling, have a place to be seen, or enjoy an avocado toast (delicious as they might be).
It's the coffee! Everything is dialed in with care and the baristas know what they're doing 100%, actively experimenting while they're at it. You can have a chat and it's wonderful. Always interesting roasters as well, I love it.
Box Kite could be construed as an upper west side caffeine fix, but it's far more. Go for the coffee, and also come back for the coffee!

Nice, cozy coffee shop very close to the 72nd station. The coffee on tap was excellent! It was medium roast and rich in flavors. The latte was equally great. The hostess was very friendly and the service was great

Fabulous coffee from a rotating selection of roasters, carefully prepared by attentive baristas in a hole-in-the-wall. A barista’s bar – perfect for coffee geeks!
Best place for coffee on the UWS, one of best in the city, but not a cafe for lingering – drink at the bar, or get it to go.
Limited space, limited pastries, no Wi-Fi or AC outlets, but plenty of USB – feed your phone, not your laptop.
Thoughtful preparation – had a 14g in, 40g out (~1:3 brew ratio), close to classic Italian style, instead of ubiquitous 18g in, 36g out, 1:2 ratio.
... and the other guests were baristi!

Tiny spot with everything right. Their coffee is one of the top ive had in the city. Also we had their mocha and it’s the perfect amount of sweet, coupled with the right amount of coffee (tough to find).
