Gourmet Garage of West 66th

- This Gourmet Garage at W66th street between Broadway and Amsterdam is the only one that features the famed Orwasher's Bakery founded in 1916. This includes a large selection of sourdough breads with different types of whole grains, many which are nongmo/organic and sourced locally from NY State and even the jams used are sourced from NY State farms. The Orwasher selection also includes croissants, muffins, doughnuts, cookies, and varieties of bagels (Bialy) with real onions. I believe they are baked fresh and brought in daily from the upper east side or the bronx. Other Orwasher's locations are further north in the Upper West Side or Upper East side. My favorites are the spelt/raisin unlevained bread and swiss health unlevained bread and the ultimate whole wheat sourdough, and pumpernickel walnut raisin bread.

I always pay more attention for shoppers in the cheese section in the back. The cheese selection is the most I can find around Lincoln Square. But, I don't usually see many people in the cheese section, and always wonder who buy those cheese from all over the world to make Gourmet Garage keep stocking them.

Tip: The cheese section is all the way back.

This is one of my favorite places in the neighborhood. The staff is always helpful, and friendly. I'm impressed with a variety and quality of the food. It's always on the healthy side of choices, and I love to go there. My children and grandchildren love to go there... Especially when they're with me and I'm buying!

I don't live in this neighborhood but I would shop here regularly if I did. The selection of prepared foods and grocery items is excellent. Everything seems to be of very good quality and the prices are reasonable -- much more so than the stores that cater to my fellow tourists just a few blocks away in any given direction. I should also mention that it's clean, well lit and pleasant in just about every regard that's desirable in a store.

I usually pop in here to buy a prepared meal. Always delicious and healthy.

I love their cookies and cupcakes made by Gourmet Garage.

What I enjoy most is that I usually find some condiments that I cannot find in a grocery store. I like that. Variety keeps me on my toes.

Good, small and cozy - and a little pricey - supermarket with basic staples, a great bread selection and lots of prepared foods. Staff are very friendly and helpful. A good neighborhood place to shop for things you have missing at home and need to finish a meal.

I come from Hells Kitchen to shop here for seafood! They have this great ceader plank salmon for $10 or less.

Great as always.
But...they have now gone self checkout. I just hope that hard working professional people that have worked there forever are not being replaced by automation.

Best grocer on the UWS. I will walk 10 blocks past Fairway to visit this store. They have Pat la Frida meat and the fruit and vegetable section is amazing.

Great for picking up essentials when visiting the area. Expensive, but appropriate for its location.

Excellent supermarket. Nice boufet selection, amazing sandwiches. It's a bit pricey, but it's OK for this location.

Shop in the morning. Fab Breakfast choices, and pastries. Although, I know their soup choices are great as well.

It is a very expensive supermarket. Their foods are mostly organic and fresh.

Small but they have all you need. Like a hot soup.or coffee

Miss their cheese bread, a bit pricey but definitely worth stopping by their meat market.
