Brooklyn Public Library - Sheepshead Bay Branch

A lot of activities for adults and for kids. A big selection of books for folks who speak different languages. There are preowned books that are available for sale. The longest working hours are on Tuesday and Thursday when it is opened until 8 pm and Saturday is a a workday too. A big collection of kids books on 2nd floor with a big rag for tots to play and read. Definitely this library is an excellent place for everyone who likes books and communication.

The women at the front desk are very helpful. They took their time to make sure we and other people who needed assistance were helped. Also took their time to explain and make sure the person understood when help was needed. Its small compared to another library but its still a great local library.

Great library! The location has a great selection and all the librarians are very knowledgeable! Everyone is very nice and helpful. They have awesome free classes and events for kids, teenagers, and adults. The head librarian is very enthusiastic and turned the library into a cultural hub, offering many activities to the neighborhood! Also, it is very clean with a very pleasant atmosphere, and lots of different activities. Definitely a great gem in our community!

Growing up this library seemed to have has the largest Children's Section amongst the surrounding area, since then several nearby branches have been totally rebuilt so I don't know if that's still true. Regardless, this branch was cleverly designed so that the kid's section occupies its own level. As a kid it made it feel like the whole place was dedicated to children's books and from an adults perspective you can let your kids browse freely while only really having to watch the single exit connecting the floor/section to the rest of library.
While the selection for adults is comparatively limited the BPL allows card holders to go online to browse the catalog and reqest, for free, that any desired books in circulation be sent to a branch of their choosing; when each requested book arrives users are notified via text or email at which point the title is held exclusively for them to pick up. This makes local branches valuable for the service they are able to provide instead of the being valued by the number of books they can fit on their shelves.

I'm only mentioning this service here because I'm not sure how many people are even aware of its existence. It's seems like many ignore their local library entirely aassuming the specific obscure title they're looking for won't be available.

This library is conveniently located one block away from Sheepshead Bay train station. It has thee levels. Decent children's section, computers, books in English and other languages, Audio books, and many DVDs. It also hosts various educational meetings for adults and reading activities for children. If you go online, you will be able to search books and renew your borrowings.

The librarian is very helpful and professional in facilitating me with my book borrowing process.

Nice little library with everything you need. I've used the compute here as well as printed documents. The librarians are nice and helpful and the location is kept clean. Serves it's purpose well.

This is a great local library but unfortunately currently it is under renovation. I believe it should be reopened around Dec 2019
