My wife has been wanting to come here for over a year. And I reluctantly agreed. I was very glad to do it. The two people (young man and older woman) at the front to greet us were exceptionally nice it’s super enthusiastic. It is apparent that they love their job!!

The digital information boards inside that allows you to tour all kinds of species of dogs was amazing and you could get lost in those for hours. The photographs were beautiful and the second floor is much more interesting with historic information as well as super interesting history about dogs.

There was beautiful amount of historic objects, such as sculptures and drawings from all points in history. I was thoroughly impressed. The library is also pretty impressive with the amount of books that it had.

A+++. Thoroughly enjoyed it. Gift shop is well stocked and has a lot of great choices.

A beautiful homage to man's best friend! A perfect little location to wander around and look at the beautiful paintings, sculptures and photos of our canine companions. It was a $15 dollar admission per adult, but well worth it if you are a dog lover! There's a place on the upper level for a brief interactive experience with a virtual dog named Molly, as well as a library and place to color in some pictures of dogs with colored pencils! A great experience for anybody who loves dogs, and a great place for a quick family trip

Amazing museum dedicated to dogs with some impressive cat photography! There are 3 floors, interactive options and the front reception staff are so helpful! There are free lockers, coat racks, excellent merchandise scope for all price ranges. Great info for adults and activities for kids!

Really fun museum, housing some very nice paintings of our favorite furry friends. They have free lockers when you come in, so you don't have to lug your jackets around.

This place is so cute!! A must see when you come to nyc! 2 1/2 floors of sculptures and pictures of dogs and cats! There is a kiosk where you can see what dog you are! Also when we were there, there was a akc champion dog named wasabi! it was a great experience to see a akc winning dog! And the price is very reasonable! Love this place!

Such a great museum. It’s only 2 floors but there’s so much to see and do and if you’re a dog lover it’s such a great way to spend an afternoon.

Not waiting during weekday walk-in. The museum shop is before ticketing and many interesting gifts. Only wish they are dog friendly and discount for AKC registered owners.

The museum is so entertaining, it is a shame that it is quite small. Spanning over 2 floors, majority of the museum is artworks and historical information of dogs throughout time. There are also fun activities for those who are not as interested in art. Learn facts and history of current dog breeds. There's even a kiosk that finds a dog that looks like you! Most notable is the scavenger hunt. Fun for all ages, I recommend doing both scavenger hunts! As a tip, make sure you check their calendar as they hold special events on certain days.

Great little museum/gallery, well worth a visit if you love dogs. It contains lots of artwork rather than interactive type stuff so better for adults than kids, tho there are a few things kids will enjoy there like the virtual puppy training. Staff were super friendly and helpful, and for $5 it's really good value too.

Fantastic museum, wall after wall of gorgeous paintings dedicated to our canine companions over the centuries. A dog lover’s dream. Check out their Furry Fridays too! (For DOGS… not… the other kinds of furries)

We had a great time visiting! The museum is quite small, only 2 and a half floors, but the art is so wonderful! I would say this is a must see if you’re a dog lover.

This is a truly beautiful Museum with stunning old artifacts and paintings. And of course it’s all about dogs! What could be better than that? Wasn’t crowded at all so you could really look at each individual thing carefully. They have a Gift Shop in the main lobby to take a look at too. Such a cool place full of history!

Loved this little Treasure! Just a block from Grand Central. Staff was friendly, welcoming & courteous. Got there around 11:30am this past Saturday, not crowded. Saw all the displays in a quiet, peaceful, happy environment! Definitely recommend!!

First and foremost, we would like to thank the AKC, its supporters, benefactors and all those who helped to make the Dog Museum a reality. For us, dog lovers, the opening of the AKC Dog Museum was a big thing, and at the prized Manhattan location at that, even with visitors in mind (it is located within 2 minutes' walk from the Grand Central).
The museum is situated on three levels, accessed by a staircase, and, we believe, an elevator as well. Most of the collection is distributed between the ground floor, where also a good museum store is located, and the third floor; with the intermediate level serving as a vantage point to observe the ground floor from above and see the glass-enclosed installation filled with figurines of every canine breed under the sun.
The collection consists of dozens and dozens of paintings dedicated to dogs, from the quite old ones (dating back to the early XIXth century) to the contemporary pieces (think 2005 Barney and Miss Beasley, the famous Scottish terriers that belonged to GWB). The style, genre, manner, historical periods, and, of course, the breeds showcased vary drastically, and there is something for every dog lover, or any visitor for that matter. In addition to paintings, there are figurines, statues, and artifacts representing the past and present of the canine race.
Noteworthy are interactive exhibits, from the humorous display taking your own photo and matching it to a specific dog breed (supposedly looking like you) to the 'Meet Molly" interactive play aimed at training a virtual dog.
The 3rd floor also houses the museum's library that stores hundreds of volumes dedicated to dogs. The library features a spacious seating area allowing to browse through the reading material.
Admission tickets can be purchased online, on the museum's website and printed at home.
Highly recommended.

Great little exhibit. Really enjoyed the painted art and sculptures. There are a couple of interactive portions: a virtual dog you can train and a camera that shows you what kind of dog you resemble.

Great place to go spend an hour or so for relatively cheap ($15 when we went).

We went this past Saturday and was pleasantly surprised! The staff couldn’t have been more welcoming (Alyssa) and informative (Madeline).

The exhibit space is well designed, the collection varied and interesting. And, the enthusiastic staffers couldn’t have been happier to show-off their wares.

As well as, a great gift shop— never hurts. I was able to fill a gift basket for my dog loving bestie with wonderful dog themed gifts I haven’t seen elsewhere.

It’s a great place to get your doggie fix for an hour or two, well worth the price of admission! We look forward to coming back in the Fall for the next exhibit.
