Nichols Zauzig

Was looking for a lawyer to finish the divorce. Did a search and saw a few around. Most results seemed questionable like a lawyer in a basement. I came across Nichols Zauzig in the list and a little further out, but I've heard about them somewhere. Soon as I showed up at the office, I knew I picked right. Right to business, found someone for me to work with and scheduled the consultation.
For me, I always though a lawyer was an unnecessary expense and maybe I could do it on my own based on others and their bad experiences. I did an online service for papers but it's so generic. I spent over a year trying to make it work. A few minutes with Randell made it clear to me that I was way over my head on this. It was well worth everything in the end using their service. Nichols Zauzig, and in particular Cassandra Chin, has handled my family law situation for several complicated cases. I was given Nichols Zauzig a few years ago as I contemplated a divorce. I’m thankful that I had their number because I suddenly needed them. My ex had her attorney send me an email telling me she wanted a divorce. Cassandra Chin urged me to try to work out a settlement agreement with my ex, but it is no surprise we couldn’t work anything out ourselves.

Just before we went into a settlement meeting between the 2 attorneys and my ex, my ex pulled her original (untenable) offer and submitted an offer even worse.

Cassandra called me before sending me the new offer and and told me not to worry because the new offer was against Virginia statute in several areas. She assured me that I would do better than the original offer my ex had just pulled. She was absolutely correct in her assessment. We got a much better deal and made a few nominal concessions early in the meeting that paid dividends later.

Though I got divorced later in life and my ex had no savings or investments of her own, I will be able to retire thanks in no small part to Cassandra’s guidance. I thought we worked well together and I owe my future to her.

I have been fighting custody of my ten year old daughter her whole life. It has not been an easy road. I have been through many lawyers and haven't had good representation. That is, until I came across Mr. Andrew Taylor. During our initial consultation, I could tell he genuinely cared about my case and he truly wanted to help me.

My experience with Melanie Rice of Nichols Zauzig was great! I only have good things to say about her work ethic and resolve get you what's in your best interest. My case was drawn out a little longer than we expected and we encountered some unnecessary feedback however, she handled it like a true professional (if it bothered her it wasn't obvious). Why were you looking for a lawyer and why did you choose Nichols Zauzig Sandler over other attorneys? - Divorce and custody. I went through a long drawn out divorce from someone who was using the court system as a weapon to bully me. He made it clear early on he did not want to settle, he wanted to fight. My first lawyer was dogmatic however very expensive and we didn't communicate well. We decided to part ways and both she and an attorney who I consulted with directed me to Cassandra Chin at NZS. They were well-regarded in Prince William County and considered strategic and "tenacious" in their approach. Cassandra specifically was consider to leave "no stone upturned" by her peers. I have a knack for details as well and believed me and my children would be in good hands which we were.

What were some specific actions or ways we/I helped you? Cassandra and her assistant Renee greatly reduced my anxiety around the entire divorce process. I was in a David and Goliath fight with a rich ex and I had limited funds via maxing out credit cards. Every penny spent was spent on wise logical strategy. They were also very candid and straight up with me even when I didn't want to hear some of the sobering realities of divorce and custody.
