San Miguel Cemetery

Needs to be weeded.. Wish they would send the people in jail to weed regularly..

My father passed away in July 2023. His Birthday was on Nov. 13. Our family went to spend some time with him. When we got there the drive in gate was locked with a pad lock and a smaller door with a pad lock but that was unlocked. My mom is 83 years old she can not walk that far into the cemetery. We used a wheelchair. Their was so many Rocks that she almost flipped many times. We were caring balloons flowers and candles. And oxygen for myself. Help me understand why the small gate was open and not the bigger gate to drive in?? We paid for plots and services. We own property in the cemetery so we should have access to visit our loved ones when it’s their birthday or anniversary. I truly hope someone reconsiders and change these rules. Our loved ones really mean a lot to us we would like to pray over their graves on their birthdays and not on the next coming weekend. In Gods name please 🙏🏼

I am writing to express my dissatisfaction with the San Miguel Church cemetery being locked. I attempted to visit the cemetery in Socorro to drop off flowers for my dad Bobby Silva’s 9th anniversary of his passing.
I was disappointed to find the drive through gate locked despite no closures being mentioned on their website or Facebook page. I drove all the way from Albuquerque. Imagine if I would’ve driven from Colorado where I used to live!?

When I called the number listed on Google, I spoke to Annie who informed me that the gates were locked due to weather conditions and decorations flying around making it dangerous. While I understand the need for safety, I was disappointed by the lack of empathy shown. I use an assistive mobility device and I was unable to maneuver through the cemetery gate as she suggested, not to mention the distance to my dad’s grave is quite far.

I believe reconsideration of these ridiculous rules be taken. Inclusivity and equality should be incorporated to ensure everyone has access to the cemetery. As ambassador's of Jesus Christ, the San Miguel church should already know the importance of having empathy and understanding toward Gods people. Especially those grieving during birthdays, anniversaries and holidays. We don’t grieve on weekends ONLY!
