Wauhatchie Woodlands

We had a fantastic stay at the chalet. The house was great, check in and reservations were easy. Pool was great. If you’d like trains, there are two tracks right next-door so it does get a little loud when they do go by. Pickleball court down the hill was fun. They do have rackets and balls that you can borrow. They are in the benches on the court. We used the fire table a couple of times. We bought some charcoal so we could grill out on the deck. Staff were extremely friendly and helpful. Only thing we would recommend is that if you don’t like really thick pillows, best bring your own. We will definitely be back.

We specifically picked this cabin to be as close as possible to the trains. Our child loves trains and this place did not disappoint. He was able to watch them from the hot tub! He literally said he was in heaven! This was the perfect little cabin for our family of 3. This little resort is near a lot of popular attractions but it still felt like we were private and secluded. We had an issue with the tv while we were there and it was promptly fixed by staff. This was such a great little getaway, we are already talking about coming back again.

My stay at the cabin was truly amazing. The cabin was very clean, cozy, and had everything you should need for a comfortable and welcoming stay. I was truly impressed, highly recommend,and will be returning for future trips.

Very pleased with our stay. Extremely clean! Train sounds were not an issue with us. Only heard whistle once at night. Typically, the trains just run. No complaints. Highly recommend. The restaurants that try recommended were helpful and delicious.

This was a great place to stay! The cabins were perfect for what we needed and the hot tub fits 4 people. Full kitchen with dishes and utensils, towels, shampoo, conditioner, soap, etc… The trains didn’t bother us but our cabin wasn’t extremely close to the tracks. The only thing I think that it didn’t have were hangers for the closet space in the bedroom. Beautiful area!

We stayed one night in the Ernie cabin and absolutely loved it. The cabin was roomy, charming, and fully functional, and the hot tub was an awesome way to relax in the evening after a day of hiking and exploration. The train tracks did not bother us at all, but we currently live near tracks, so we're already accustomed to the horn and track noise. The community was quaint and quiet. If ever looking for a place to stay in or near Chattanooga, definitely consider this place as an option. You will not be disappointed.

We are resort owners and love to stop at little places like this. Was very pleasant. Very well laid out and the cabin was perfect. Enjoyed the hot tub, right out the back door. Under the full moon also! It was a short stay, but would love to come back for a week.

Great spot! The house/cabin is massive! Kitchen is big enough to cook for everyone. So many nooks that everyone can have their own space! Loved it!

We stayed in Nana Cabin, and we thoroughly enjoyed our time there! It was spotless clean, warm and cozy upon entering (we came in December), and had the extra touch of a little Christmas tree. The hot tub was easy to manage and was nice to come home to after exploring Chattanooga! Dish detergent as well as laundry detergent were provided to make the check out process easy. The cabins are conveniently located to Rock City, Ruby Falls, Incline Railway, and Point Park. The drive to downtown Chattanooga isn’t too bad even considering the constant construction on the interstate. We will definitely stay in these cozy cabins when coming back to Chattanooga to explore!

We hosted a family reunion here July 4 weekend in 2023 and had an amazing time! We had 50 people and rented the May House, Sky Chalet, and multiple private cabins sleeping 4-6 people and it worked out perfectly. We love having access to the big pool since the majority of our family was occupying the large homes but love having a private cabin to ourselves. We stayed in Luke Cabin and loved this location out of all the private cabins on-site because it was flat land around it since I have a 16 month old, it made it easier for him to outside and also for parking, packing, unpacking etc.
the property map obviously doesn’t show elevation or holds but the property is very hilly, some very steep and this is something to keep in mind with kids that like to be outdoors!
The cabins were very clean, modern, and had great amenities and everything you could need. We would definitely go back!

This was a great place to stay! Loved the cabin.... Clean and nice! Stayed in Stefan, it was a good choice ...not to close to the busy road. The train was close, it didn't bother us... We actually liked it because it's something a lil different. The coolest thing of course is the hot tub, and it was a really good one!

We had a wonderful experience with Timberroot rustic retreats in Chattanooga. We rented the Luke cabin and absolutely loved everything about it. The Timberoot team was fantastic with directions on check in, and the cabin. The cabin itself was surprisingly spacious, and SO clean! We were very impressed with the location, cabin condition (it looked nearly new!) and amenities inside. The sleeping areas were great, with very comfortable beds throughout. Highly recommend Timberroot rustic retreats!

What a pleasant surprise! We loved our tiny cabin "Ernie" in the woods. Though we were close to the road, it wasn't loud at all. We chose Ernie because it was furthest away from the train tracks. I also felt like our cabin had the most privacy. The interior was very clean, well-stocked, and had the most comfortable mattresses and sheets. We had an issue with the tub draining, and they sent someone out the next morning to fix it. We were very pleased with the service and experience. We cannot wait to book again!

This cabin was a perfect getaway. The bedroom offers plenty of storage space so you can unpack and not live out of your suitcase. It is just minutes away from area attractions or you can sit on the porch and listen to the trains going by. We had a perfectly lovely stay.

Just stayed at the Papa Cabin for a long weekend with my husband and teenage son and we absolutely loved it! There was a little glitch with getting check in information the night before - they changed systems since we made our reservation and therefore didn't automatically bill us for the balance due as we expected. However we called in the morning before we came in and got it all straightened out easily.

The cabin and hot tub was spotless. It's a small space but totally comfortable for 2 adults and 1 teen. The loft area would be little uncomfortable for adults I think due to the low ceiling and very steep stairs but it was ok for my son. There was plenty towels (bath and beach), blankets, pillows, and soap/shampoo/conditioner. Our cabin had a small container of coffee and some dry creamer but I'm not sure if that is standard or was just left by previous occupants (the only other thing left was some charcoal). There are plenty of cooking utensils, a mini stove, dishwasher, and washer/dryer combo. The drive into downtown Chattanooga room and up Lookout Mountain was both about 10 minutes so for us the location was perfect. The roads around the cabins are quite steep and narrow. Our cabin was located right by a highway but it usually was pretty quiet and the foliage totally blocked the view. Some cabins were closer to the railroad and the sound from the trains may be a little louder - however I never heard the train once inside the cabin and the noise was minimal outside (only heard it blow a whistle 1 time). The AC inside was great and we stayed very comfortable. At checkout you're expected to take out the trash and start a load of towels in the washer so nothing major. Our only interaction with any employee was via phone and she was very helpful and polite. Otherwise check in and out was easy and contactless. Overall we are very pleased and would definitely recommend!

We could not believe the amenities and the cleanliness of the cabin. My kids went crazy over the loft and the hot tub. The cabins are also close to everything. Everyone keeps to themselves we prefer this experience to the hotel experience anytime! And when they say they will be there to help you with questions or issues they really mean it!

We are currently staying in the Thomas cabin after a long week of traveling from Georgia to Pigeon Forge, Kentucky, and Indiana with our 3 kids. We thought this would be the perfect cool down before heading home tomorrow. It has exceeded expectations. The cabin is beautiful. Cooking for my family after a week of crazy has been lovely. Everything about this place is perfect. I even thought about seeing if we could stay an extra day. It's the best sleep I've gotten on this whole trip. My husband and I will definitely be back for a couples getaway next time.

Amazing rental!!

Loved the easy check-in process and amenities. They sent all my check-in information the day before check-in. Self check-in made it great, no office to mess with. The Chalet has a large wrap around deck to enjoy the beautiful surroundings. We didn't get to use the spa since it was chilly, but we lit a fire to enjoy in the shared fire-pit space. We loved the layout and modern yet rustic feel of the Chalet. It made the perfect getaway to still be close to the city, but feel like you are hours away. The owners were very responsive and helpful! We will definitely be back to enjoy this great property again! Thanks.

Wauhatchie woodlands was such a wonderful experience! My wife and I took our four children and stayed in Maggie Cabin. The kids loved it. The cabins are so nice with plenty of space for 6 people to stay. The cabin had everything we needed, was super clean, and checkin/checkout was so easy! The hot tub out back was our kid’s favorite spot to hang. We were so close to Rock City and Ruby Falls, and great dining facilities. It was tucked in the woods and was the perfect place to retreat. Would definitely stay again!

Great experience staying at Wauhatchie Woodlands! The tiny cabins are just enough for a getaway in the woods, but still only a few minutes away from restaurants and shopping if that's your thing. Kitchens have 4 burner stove/oven, dishwasher, full size fridge and a full sink. Beds were comfy particularly those in the loft ( pleasant surprise).

Covered front porch with charcoal grill and table & chairs, back porch with Adirondack chairs, covered hot tub that can fit about 6 people (maybe more, maybe less depending on size 😉).

There are several fire pits and fire wood is available for purchase on site.

*Located next to train tracks - did not feel there was any safety issues with this, but several trains pass by throughout the day and night. There was a sound machine is the bedroom and earplugs available, but I'm not sure if these are in every cabin. Using the sound machine and plugs, sleep was not an issue.
