This is a very small shelter compared to others in the state. I think they do well with what they have to work with and I'm glad we adopted from Catawba County. We adopted BlackBeard, the one eyed Chihuahua. The staff (paid and volunteers) were excellent! They knew each dog and cat by name, not identification number. We visited twice and on both occasions noticed the kennels were cleaner than a larger shelter a half hour away. BB himself was clean and I think they may have just given him a bath because he smelled great. Because of our experience, we're thinking of volunteering here in the future. I understand that others may have had issues, but the staff were very transparent with us on adoption fees, no holds for pets are allowed, and they gave us all the history they had on our dog. Thanks to everyone at the shelter for a great experience.

I had an amazing experience adopting from animal control! All the staff are friendly and helpful with making sure you find the right kitty for you. Every member of staff was understanding and informative from the front desk to the people showing you around! The adoption fee you pay for the amount of medical care your furry friend has received is beyond unbeatable. Spayed, completely up to date on every shot, and treated for any disease it may have had? At that point it’s 66% off medical care and a free furry friend! She is currently in bathroom quarantine but cute picture anyway!

Went into the shelter the other day to see if there was a kitten to add to our family. We immediately saw this lovable kitten and knew we had to take her home. She was very clean, already spade and her incision looked very well done. Overall this shelter really cares about the animals, the cages are clean and all animals seem to be very happy. It’s such a hard job taking care of the well being of so many animals and they do a great job. The ladies and gentlemen there are very nice, patient, and answered all my questions!

Adopted my sweet girl back in 21'.
They made the spaying process easy, handled her tapeworm, and were great about changing her medicine when she wasn't responding.
Adoption fee was very reasonable & we couldn't be happier with our snuggle bunny.

I understand that it may be easy to become desensitized to animals when this is your job . I know this job must be really difficult especially when the majority of the public doesn't want to take care of their animals . But it's still sad . I found a sickly puppy and brought her in , they said she probably wouldn't make it. . I hope they tried . They may bejust a number to the animal control but they are sentient beings and their whole existence is in your hands . I feel horrible.

Such amazing staff. Really caring and so super friendly. Hardest time when I had to take my pit when I had to move and wasn't able to keep my pitty and surrender him. They reassured me they would get him a good home. My biggest fear was him being put down and they made me feel way better about where I took him. I recommend them to everyone.

We adopted our new dog from here. Staff were great. It was a bit busy when finishing up (on a Saturday morning). Just don't be in a hurry.

We had a great experience adopting a dog from them. Their staff is excellent and it feels more like a humane society than an animal control office.

Absolutely the best customer service. They were patient with my daughter as she picked out her kitten, never rushed us and answered any questions we had. Very knowledgeable of each animal which shows they are taken care of and loved. I will only adopt from this facility from now on

Just came here to look at the cats and kittens. Staff are so sweet and helpful. They have a lot of kind cats I wish I could’ve taken home. Very affordable and straight forward compared to other places.

Officer Kristy was amazing to us and our situation. We sadly had to have our amazing Kubota put down due to his injuries. She sat with me on the phone why I cried my eyes out and went above and behind to make sure we got his collar back as well as his ashes so we could give him a proper burial. Thank you for everything you've done for us.

I want to say that these people are awesome! We had a vicious out of control huge pitbull that came out of nowhere and killed my neighbors dog broke our other neighbors dog's leg and woundend him and the animal control came to my house to inform me to keep my dogs inside so they wouldnt be next. When I got involved I watched a bunch of animal control officers surround the dog with their four SUV's and warned people to back off (me), to keep me and my kids safe. They caught the dog and did everything right. I was not only kept safe (me and my kids and four dogs) but they worked so proffessionally at how they handled it all. KUDOS!!!!!
