This was a fun hike with lots of views near the waterfall and along the hike to get there.

It wasn't difficult to hike, but it can get tricky when you get near the waterfall. The slope of the hill makes it hard to go down without slipping, but once you get there, the view from across the falls is amazing. Definitely worth going to see.

Beautiful flowers all over! Lovely! Left trekking poles in car, would prefer to have them with me.
Parking along Hwy 176, make sure you're off the road!
Look forward to hiking this trail again!!!

A fairly moderate hike. There is some steepness to it in some areas and other areas pretty flat. There are creek crossing so be careful but overall a easy hike for adults and kids. It was my daughter, friend, her 3 children and I on this hike. Ages 9,8,7,6 if they find it easy you will too 😊 The hike to the falls is the first veer to the left and the train tracks are the first veer to the right.

This waterfall is gorgeous! The trail is intense at first but the hike is only about 10-20 minutes and very much worth it. You can go down different paths to see the falls. I personally go to the right when it forks off. You can keep going up and follow the railroad tracks and then make a right before the bridge across the river. You'll hear it when you are close. The waterfall is stunning. Just keep in mind to be respectful to nature. Don't disturb the peace and please do not litter. Not much parking either.

**Use Old Saluda Grade on Google Maps for parking area. Parking is on the right if you’re going “up” the mountain and the trail head is across the street towards the bridge.
This hike was great! It was .67 from the parking to the falls. Took us about 38 minutes of walking time total out and back. It started uphill but not for long. We took the right at the fork. Went up and walked along the abandoned train track (go left). It was pretty overgrown with kudzu and plants but doable (went in June). Before the track bridges over the gap, take small trail to the right and it will go under the bridge. It meets up with the other way in. Right takes you to an upper overlook, middle path takes you to a rock formation with a great view of the falls (but if a scramble down and steep drop off), left takes you back towards the parking lot or you can walk back up and go along the train track. The falls were massive and very cool.

Park between the two bridges. You will see an entry close to one bridge. Start walking up. The first split goes left to the falls and right takes you to another area that has a train trestle or something. I'm not sure though. We only hiked to the falls. The last section of the hike is where it gets tough. There are several rocks to cross over. A walking stick would come in handy. Overall a good hike and nice views.

Amazing waterfall between Saluda and Tryon with multiple drops and nice trails that go from bottom to top. Many nice picnic rocks along the way. Not crowded the day we visited as it’s not as popular as others in the area. Parking is limited to about 8 cars.

Search for MF parking when looking for the trailhead. Starts rather steep and is very steep near the falls but they're spectacular.

Look for the gate with the "Proceed with caution" and "Conserving Carolina" signs on it. This path is not for the faint of heart. It is not maintained and is in some places very steep, especially right before the waterfall. This one is not dog friendly or child friendly. The path forks- if you go to the right and up, you will cross train tracks and see the top of the falls. If you go to the left, you will be able to view the falls from a large rock formation. I did not go to the right but will def do that next time.

Moderately difficult hike to and around the falls. Really beautiful and worth the time. It’s easy to find if you use Old Saluda Grade on google maps to find the trailhead.

No signs for parking for this hike but when you cross over a bridge (coming from Tryon), you'll see limited parking. I followed the widest path to the falls. Several turn offs along the way. Very steep down to falls so be careful. About 15 to 20 minutes to reach the falls.

This is a moderate hike! Signs are posted to proceed at your own risk ⚠… If you do take the hike please be careful and check local weather conditions… Absolutely beautiful everywhere you turn! The spring blooms and moss provided a beautiful blanketed scene from the trees to the hills…

Easy beautiful hike with waterfall, interesting rocks, and spring flowers. Not a lot of parking space. Kids need to be closely controlled. No restrooms on site.

Absolutely incredible place. The hike is not incredibly hard but it is challenging. I would not let children or pets roam free here as there are plenty of precarious places near the edges of steep drop offs. The trail has three routes that go to the top middle and below middle sections. To go to the lower section is is quite steep and a workout for sure getting back out.

Melrose Falls is a big waterfall on Big Fall Creek. You can see it from US-176 in winter about a half-mile east of the trailhead. The trailhead is between the two bridges over North Pacolet River. Parking is limited but there are a few more spots on the other side of the road. The hike is about 1/2 a mile, moderate with a steep scramble down to the main viewing point in the middle of the falls. This is a dangerous area, so be cautious with children and pets.

We visited here for the first time. Lovely waterfall. The hike isn't too bad but you do have some elevation gain. We went to the upper viewing area, we did not try going to the bottom as we heard it can be a little difficult to get to the bottom. We will most definitely visit again, maybe in the Fall.

A really hidden gem 💎 near the town of Saluda close to the Green River Gamelands, you can actually see the lower and upper sections of the fall. You park next to the road that runs parallel to the north pacolet river, they need to work on the signs and maintenance of the trail where the rail roar tracks are.

Probably one of my favorites because of the cascading water, great hike, multiple levels and isolation. Not much parking and hard to find the first time, but I've been there several times since.

I was originate disappointed because I thought you could only see the falls from the road. If you continue up the mountain after seeing the falls, you'll see two pull offs that allow you to park and hike a trail that takes you right to the falls! I definitely recommend this to anyone visiting or local, standing at the base of them is beautiful (and muddy, so wear boots!)
