This is a trailhead for multiple trails going through the Green River Gamelands. This is the most popular and quickest route to the narrows.

There are ropes put in place to assist you going down the narrows. Having done this hike plenty of times, I can tell you that going down isn't the problem, it's getting back up. If you are in shape and hike this will be moderate. If you don't hike regularly or are not in great shape, this will be very difficult.

Through the Gamelands there aren't many parking areas. The general rule is you park off the road. Completely off the road. You can get a ticket if you are partially on the road. Drive a litter further, it's not like you can't walk a little further to go for a hike.

The narrows are where the Green River Race is held.

Did this with the kiddos (8,8,10). I loved the hike and the kids did too. The last section down to the narrows was challenging for the kids but they did well. Glad there were ropes for them to use. We got caught in a thunderstorm on our way back, thankfully we had already made it through the scramble section before it started pouring, that could make it more difficult. The rain in the forest was beautiful. Excellent hike, definitely a good workout.

This is a great moderate hike. It's easy going down, but coming back up is harder. You can hear the flowing sound of the stream the whole hike. I followed the Pulliam Creek trail down and back up in just an hour. That includes a 15 min break by the stream at the bottom. There are a few other trails that connect to the Pulliam trail.

Extremely strenuous but wonderful hike through the green river narrows. The scale of the gorge is awe inspiring. Be careful on your way down the fixed ropes. Cool crisp mountain air and crystal clear water.

Been hiking this trail for the Green Race the past 4 years. The trail is a really nice leisurely hike. The split off where the trail heads down to the Green River Narrows is where the hiking/climbing starts. I recommend only hiking within your comfort and experience level and know that what you hike down, you will have to hike up from this split.

Easy hike, extended it to the blue trail to the water to watch kayakers. The rope area off the white trail was too slick, it been raining.

Really nice trail. Several different options from a wider trail to single tracks. My dog and I hiked for about 3 hours and got a great workout. The creek is beautiful. We came across a few waterfalls. Watch out for hunters. Apparently it is hunting season. Awesome overall experience!

23rd annual Green River Race, in the Green River GameLands in Saluda NC. "The Green River Game Lands is a beautiful, rugged, natural area of forests, rivers, gorges, and hillsides consisting of more than 10,000 acres along the Green River in Henderson and Polk counties. The area is owned by the state and managed for the primary purpose of wildlife conservation and management, which means that fishing, hunting, and trapping are allowed.

All the trails have a sense of the wild—although there are trailhead signs, the trails are not blazed. One of the best trails for dogs is the Pulliam Creek Trail, and one of the best times to hike is in spring, when it is not yet hot and the wildflowers are blooming in abundance."

We enjoyed this trail. It was super slippery because of rain the night before but the trail is easily marked and there are many other trail options!

easy to find and follow.. after you cross the first bridge at the trailhead, go about a half mile and you'll come to a trail map with descriptions of the systems! this is a rarity, and such a nice touch by the gameland preserve 👌🏻 well kempt area, including trail markings, and the narrows themselves are stunning! I'm in good shape and hike often, and this is true to the moderate rating... some really decent inclines to make it a work out, but not overly so, so that it's unenjoyable. happy trails!

Love hiking here. Trails are exceptionally maintained by hard-working volunteers. (Thank you for maintaining the gamelands for everyone).

Great place in our county to disconnect from mainstream living and experience nature.

This trail was hard, but the rapids and river are really worth the journey.

The trail is beautiful and swings all around the river. The upper portions are a pretty easy hike, but getting down towards the main waterfall may be a challenge for some since it’s a steep downward slope with no steps. I brought my dog and she had a blast swimming and exploring the trails. Would definitely recommend checking this place out!

Last bit of hike is difficult but very doable, especially in dry conditions.

Pulliam Creek Trail is a nice trail for hiking. The official trail isn't hard. We took the cut off to the Green River Narrows. The cut off is an extremely difficult climb down a steep grade. It isn't part of the Pulliam Creek Trail. Highly recommend staying on the main trail unless you are physically fit and have the right gear and shoes to handle the cut off.
