Willie's Grill & Icehouse

This place has been here a long time, in fact it used to be called Chicken Willies. I've eaten here numerous times and it is always consistently good and the service is always outstanding! Today I had the fried chicken cobb salad. This is one of my favorite dishes here. They also have really good fish, shrimp and burgers. You can tell by the crowds of people that they have a good reputation. So if you're in the mood for some good old American comfort food, you need to give Willie's a try.

First time here. Really good food and good service. You order cafeteria style but get table service by a waiter.
We tried several plates. The Texas fried chicken club was really good with a. Lot of cheese and crispy bacon. The fried Mac & cheese brisket balls were really good also.

This my first time attending a Willie’s Mardi Gras event. It runs February 8-13th. A friend follows the Groove Doctors who played the night we were there. The atmosphere was lively and fun for food, music and dancing. We had great frozen margaritas and good food. Food ordered: grilled Cajun chicken with street corn and mashed potatoes; fried fish sandwich with fries and fried mushrooms and mozzarella cheese sticks. We had a great time and plan to attend this annual event. A large tent adjacent to the restaurant was where the event was held. This was a child friendly event as well with children attending with their families. The staff were attentive, helpful and friendly as well.

For a family friendly spot the food is good. The staff work hard to take care of you. I really have no complaints. I only wish they had some more healthy options. I do love a burger at times and the patty melt was delicious.

I'm glad to go back to the beginning of the crayfish season, but be in for a surprise! This year, the crayfish platter we all loved has almost doubled in price. While your shrimp is cut down to half a pound! $60! Went to the website and they even warned about these prices and size of crayfish is currently about 2.5" x less than 1". But prices were not listed online. $Sixty dollars! $60!

Update on our favorite place. Still loving it weekly. Best servers ever - Allison, Dillon and Julian! Stay real guys!!

First time at Willie’s - it was excellent all around. Food & service top notch. Our server, Allison, was absolutely the best! From the fried mushrooms & gravy/ranch to the chicken fried steak and fried chicken club. And jack & coke Icees were spot on!!! Be back soon

We actually ordered cheese sticks & mushrooms before we left for some friends - they were that good.

Emily is one of the best servers. Every time we come to Willie’s I look for her area to find an open table. She is courteous always has a smile, works hard, and very attentive to what we need. She is observance of our drinks and offers a refill

Honestly don't know why I've been avoiding this place. Great food, great atmosphere with awesome service. Very solid early dinner outing at this restaurant. The ordering style is a bit different, and the place gets packed fast during lunch and dinner, but zero complaints.
You walk in and order your food at a register at the front. Then you get a ticket and find a table. The server takes the ticket while your seated and brings the food. Then you pay at the end. Maybe it's a way to help the servers out a little??
I hope they have measures in place for when there's no more seating. I'd hate to order and then not find a table.
Food was delicious. My burger was cooked beautifully and nearly fell apart in my mouth. Everyone seemed to love their food and we became team clean plates. Will definitely be back soon!

Estrella gave us awesome service this morning! Not a drink left empty, great menu knowledge and energy! Next time you’re here ask for her you won’t be disappointed, The manager Felicity stopped by and made sure we were taken off! Atmosphere 10/10 Food 11/10

We visited Willie's Grill and Icehouse for a family outing. This Willie's is on U.S. 281 on the west side fairly close to the Brook Hollow intersection. The restaurant is close to Power Fitness and Country Village Plaza. It was the second trip for most of us.

Willie's offers dining indoors or on a shaded wooden patio which is especially pleasant in cool, springtime weather.

The eatery is know for it's fried gulf seafood as well as generous presentations of Louisiana crawfish when in season. It's known for imaginative hamburgers: This night, I chose the Hickory Cheddar Burger for $10.99 including one side. Their most expensive hamburger is the Icehouse Willie for $12.99 with one side. I sometimes wonder why Willie's isn't often mentioned among the best hamburgers in San Antonio.
It may be that folks do not often want to pay $10.50 to $13.00 for a burger and fries. I think it depends on how hungry you are and how adventurous. It took me about 15 minutes to finish of my Hickory Cheddar Burger.

If you're wanting to be a little careful on your fat and calorie intake, you can order flavorful grilled or blackened chicken and two sides for $11.99.

Food and service is always great. The people tend to be loud and obnoxious. So pick your table well. We eat there about 3× a month. Good menu variety and good drink prices/variety.

Ordered the Salmon plate, asked our waitress, Emily if it could be made spicy? She said she would asked the kitchen to spice it up, loved it!!! Will definitely come back and sit in her section. Thank you Emily ❤

I recently attended a Fat Tuesday event at Willie's, featuring the band Finding Friday ❤. It was a blast! The band was amazing. There was a huge crowd, as in... hundreds. Our waitress was SO organized! The food and drinks were great. She kept track of everything perfectly, and went out of her way to make sure we were taken care of.

Kids loved their burgers and playing there, ordered brisket tacos (now off menu)for wife which she liked. Lots of cool drinks.

BEST MARGARITAS IN TOWN!

Favorite place to meet friends in the summer, my go-tos are the salmon or their chicken fried club and sweet potato fries! Jackie was our server today out on the patio, she was so nice and helpful!

One of my wife's favorite restaurants in San Antonio. She worked for many years close to willies and had a lot of takeout meals from Willies. She never got bored with it and still enjoys it. Shrimp still my favorite go to meal there.
Oct 2023- stopped by and had the chicken fried steak with onions rings. Outstanding , wife had the chicken and vegetables platter and enjoyed her meal too.

***MILITARY DISCOUNT*** Great ambiance with tons of indoor and outdoor seating. Only 2 stalls in the bathrooms which was disappointing but it will do the trick. Prices are reasonable and the food is pretty tasty. The only thing is it is a little confusing when you order and pay! You order and then have a seat, meet your wait staff then pay them when it is all said an done. Something new for this first timer🤣 TV'S galore so it doesn't matter where you sit, you will see the TV's😊

Friendly and courteous staff! Food is good and varied. Need to have handicapped tables and faster wait time in line.
