Oh my goodness! This place is filled with ANGELS! Every single person is loving, compassionate and goes out of their way for you and your pet. I wish I would have found them years ago, as I am lucky enough to get all the pups that have health issues, and could have used their special brand of love and support. You have an incredible team on your side with every doctor, every tech, every employee here. God Bless this entire practice! AMAZING! I could not be more thankful for having found this veterinary practice. The people here made one of the very worst times of my life more bearable/navigable. My BELOVED Matilda became ill with liver cancer, and thanks to Dr. Stone's knowledgeable and kind care, my girl was able to live a bit longer than she might have, and I was able to have that much more precious time with her. It meant everything. Not only was I able to give her every last sniff of grass that I could, but I was given time to slowly grasp and accept the truth - that she was leaving me and on her way to the Rainbow Bridge... And then the day came...
We could not have asked for a better outcome to a more heartbreaking day. She had been really sick the night before, and I knew the time had come. I would never want my baby to suffer - and gratefully, she didn't. I called Hampshire Animal Hospital, and they scheduled what's called a quality of life assessment appointment with Dr. Stover - who, by the way, like everyone there, was wonderful. Once there, Gwen took us into a bright little room and gave my baby some treats. Shortly after, we and Dr. Stover discussed the unthinkable... the unavoidable. It was time.
The nice vet techs brought in soft blankets and laid them on the floor. We laid her down and loved and loved on her. And she was NOT nervous or afraid. They allowed us as much time as we needed to love and say goodbye. And when WE let them know it was time - there was NO rushing - my angel was given the medication that allowed her to slip ever so peacefully from this life, to the next. It was the worst day of my life, but it was peaceful. My girl was at rest.
I cried and I cried and and as long as I took with her, I took. And then we said our final goodbye and left.
I had asked God to help me with it. To make it be as 'good' as it could be. And in sending me to Hampshire, he did. And I was, and I am, so grateful.
A week or so later, I received ink prints of my Matilda's nose and paws, free of charge. And later, I received a lovely and very thoughtful condolence card that included a copy of the Rainbow poem. Both of our very busy doctors had each taken the time to write a sweet and sympathetic sentiment about our dear Matilda inside.
Some time later, I went to receive her ashes. I am sure that the urn inside is beautiful, but I have yet to open the box. I just can't do it yet.
Anyway, I have taken the time to write this so that others may know that Hampshire Animal Hospital and Gilberts Animal Clinic are a veterinary practice that will truly help you and your beloved animal both before and in your darkest hours.

***UPDATE*** Google asked me for an update, so my update is that I love this vet, as always! I brought my other little senior guy there today, and Dr. Stover and everyone else there was as wonderful as ever! :)

Dr. Sarah Stone is the BEST! We've used her for over 15 years and love her as our vet! The facility is very clean and the rest of the staff is excellent as well.

Cooper, our GoldenDoodle had his first appointment at Gilbert’s Animal Clinic, part of Hampshire Red Barn Animal Hospital. From the employees at the front desk to the Vet Tech to Dr Downs, our vet, everyone was welcoming, efficient and showed such kindness to Cooper. Both the vet tech and Dr Downs spent nearly an hour at this first visit with our 7 month old doodle answering my questions and explaining procedures. The very next day, I received the promised email detailing the ordering of flea and tick medication online. The customer service person I spoke to on the phone was so nice and explained that the medication would be delivered to our home automatically every quarter as I requested. When I found out that a new facility is being built across the street from the current Gilbert clinic (which will have an ICU and surgical services), I knew I had found the perfect place for Cooper, only 5 minutes from our home in Pingree Grove. We are thrilled to find such a wonderful clinic for our pup!

Our veterinarian was enormously helpful and knowledgeable in resolving our kitten and adult cat “relationship issues” (who knew there were cat pheromone plug-ins?!?) and she clearly has a heart for felines. She made our scaredy cat feel welcomed, safe, and comfortable in her presence. We highly recommend her.

I had the wonderful experience of having Hampshire Animal Hospital take care of my precious Hannah for many years of her life . When it finally came time to put her down, there couldn’t have been more compassion
than the techs and Vet Dr. expressed at this very difficult time.

This past week we took our cat for his shots to Hampshire Animal Hospital. Our cat hates going to the vet. The doctor and her assistant were very patient and they distracted him to make the shot less stressful. The doctor also spent lots of time making our cat feel comfortable.
I had intended to change to a vet who was closer to home. The level of care that my cat received made me change my mind. Hampshire Animal Hospital will be my cat's permanent vet.

Dr. Barnstable is a great asset to this hospital and our community! He’s gentle and kind to Megan, our 🐈‍⬛ cat, and very knowledgeable. I highly recommend Hampshire Animal Hospital. The staff and the other doctors are great as well!

I love going to this clinic for services. I live 45 minutes away, but I love the staff and the level of care my two dogs get here. They always leave with their tails wagging. Their prices are also very resonable compared to the vet clinics near my house. I'd strongly suggest giving them at least 1 visit to see for yourself.

We started going to Hampshire Animal Hospital and Gilbert’s in 1992 with our first dog. This past month we had a life/death situation with our cat and then 2 weeks later one of our dogs. I can’t begin to explain the level of care and compassion that we received. We are beyond grateful to Dr. Jones, and Dr. Gilbertson, as well as the staff. They went FAR ABOVE AND BEYOND! Our crew is on the mend and we are enjoying all their furry love!

Everyone there was so nice and treated my dog like their own. We have been taking our dogs and cats there for over 40 years and it never changes on how welcome and caring they make you feel .

Great place in town to take my cat. Dr. took time with us, and we felt heard. Definitely taking him back.

I have been going to Gilbert’s Animal clinic for over 20 years and their service and kindness has never changed. I don’t feel like a number there. They are all so kind and knowledgeable!! All the vets are fantastic and the service techs are too!! I would recommend them to anyone!!!

Super friendly staff, small town feel. Actually followed our vet that relocated to this. Highly recommended!! Our dogs Walter and groot love seeing Dr.downs as much as we do!

I have to say today was a rough day to say the least. We got a kitten a couple weeks ago and also have 2 other cats and 2 dogs. Never had an issue before but one of our dogs attacked the kitten early this morning. I called EVERY animal hospital I could within a close
proximity to my house to try and save my kitten and nobody would take them except this animal hospital which was approximately a 27 min drive away. I threw my 3 kids in car and my oldest held kitten the whole ride. Within a mile of the hospital the kitten stopped breathing. My oldest tried cpr and I even
tried mouth to mouth at stop lights but
unfortunately the kitten stopped breathing. We got to animal hospital and my son ran in as I parked. The
people there gave me and my 3 kids a room while we waited only to find out that the kitten didn't make it. The people there were so kind and empathetic and didnt even charge us for the emergency visit. They gave my kids paw prints and a box to put the poor kitten in. This experience was certainly the most traumatic experience my kids and I have gone through as a family but I truly feel this animal hospital tried very hard and was literally trying to help this sweet little kitten. Our family is definitely struggling to recover from the trauma of the day but this place made me feel as though they actually cared whereas every other animal hospital turned us away. If you are looking for an animal hospital that cares this is the one. They did everything they could while others refused. Rip my sweet baby kitten. I am so sorry. Words can't explain the pain and suffering we are going through right now.

Hampshire vet hospital is amazing,, I drive over 30min to take my pup there, its worth the drive. They are by far the best bet I have ever been to. They always take great care of my dog, friendly nice and always helpful.
Hampshire Animal Hospital is the place everyone should go.

We have been using this practice for the past 40+ years. Over the years, all of the doctors and staff have been wonderful. Looking forward to the new larger facility.

They take the best care of our goldens. (Margo and Rusty) doctors and staff are always so nice and caring. Would recommend them for sure!

We just moved to the area, so my pup was extra nervous...Plus she was a COVID pup, so she didn't have any socialization outside of the house. People come over and she's hesitant at first, but usually come around. She's such a cuddle bug! We have tried little bits at a time with empty dog parks, drive-thrus, neighborhood walks(anything we could think of with very little traffic...Upon entering the clinic, she was very vocal and we were worried people would look at her as a vicious doggie. The vet and staff were very understanding and let her investigate(sniff them out). She settled a little, but was still very nervous and loud...I am thankful that the staff there understand that she is just afraid and not a vicious doggie. I also felt welcomed and was happy that they did not shame me for not having "trained" my dog(that's what happened at the last clinic where she was spayed during COVID when everyone had masks on). Highly recommend this hospital as they are not pushy with extras and have a sincere bedside manner. So glad that we made the choice to take our fur babies there!
