Whenever I've shown the same picture of a wavy haircut to other hairdressers around the U.S. and Asia, they've always questioned me and say I need to use a hair curler to achieve that hairstyle, but the owner took one look at the picture, understood the assignment, and finished it in 15 minutes--with a new flair that I never thought possible. I've usually walked out of hair salons with the same hairstyle, but she took that hairstyle to the next level. It's beautiful! The conversation was great, too.) :)

New Age will be my go-to hairdresser during my 2-3 years in Ann Arbor, as it seems to be for lots of Asian residents and students of all ages here!

I came to New Age this afternoon to do a simple haircut to thin out my hair. I came after the football game expecting it to be busy but they had space and accepted my walk-in appointment immediately. June cut my hair, and she was so sweet and knew exactly what I wanted. I told her my last haircutting experience with another barber wasn't great and she listened to what I actually wanted which I really appreciated. I really loved the amount she thinned out my hair, and she made sure I ended up liking it. I would recommend anyone with East-Asian style hair especially to come here. 10/10 recommend!!! :)

I am VERY particular with my hair as it's been bleached and damaged over and over. I've tried multiple salons in AA that are twice/3x as expensive but this is the best one yet. Fast and afforable service. Her recommendations are sound and she really knows what she's doing (30+ year experience). I came back the following day because I decided I wanted my hair a little shorter and she did it free of charge. Been ages since i've had a haircut i love. Can't recommend this salon enough.

I have been going to get my hair cut with June for the past 2 years, and I can't imagine going anywhere else. She is so kind, does a fantastic job with my hair, and always keeps me very entertained and engaged while she's cutting my hair. I was recommended her by a friend since I was told she specializes in Asian hair, and I can confidently say that she has a very good understanding of what to do! Also incredibly affordable, I recommend to all.

I came here to get my hair coloured and cute and was very happy with the end results. The people where lovely and very friendly also consulted me with my hair, saying what would be best before both agreeing. I hadn’t been here before either so it was a walk in appointment and they where very welcoming.

I’m really picky about my haircuts, and for the seven years I lived in Ann Arbor, I always went to Jun.

I have thick, wavy hair. Most people don’t cut off enough, leaving everything close to the same length, but it needs some serious layering or else it’s too heavy. Jun always gives me the shaggy, wavy layers of my dreams. My hair moves! And even my bedhead is amazing. She finishes cutting faster than you might expect (the first time I came in, I thought she rushed through my haircut), but don’t be deterred. She’s just that good.

I moved to San Francisco over a year ago, and I still haven’t found anyone I like as much as Jun. Luckily, I was in town a few weeks ago, and I got to stop in at New Age for a cut. She’s simply the best.

Been coming here all 4 years of college, and was never disappointed. Super affordable, fast, and June's so friendly and wonderful to talk to. I often get a little nervous getting haircuts, but I'm always at ease coming here. Honestly wish I could come back now that I've graduated!

I’ve tried multiple barber stores in Ann Arbor, and this is my go to place for the past 2 years. June is extremely hospitable and friendly, and the prices are amazing compared to other stores around the area. If you have Asian hair, this is the place to go. I’ve also gotten multiple perms here, it turned out great. Overall I would definitely recommend

This is my go-to location for the last three years for cutting my hair. June always did a good job in doing my cuts and very patient in teaching me how to care it afterwards. Thus, we decided to ask June to help with my husband’s hairstyle for our wedding. And June did an excellent job as always ❤

Had a phenomenal perm experience with June. This was my first perm. I appreciated her attention to detail and discussion with me regarding hair care. Will be returning soon!

June, the hairstylist did a wonderful job of not only cutting my hair, but also teaching me some good styling tips. She is a very sweet lady and I highly recommend if you're looking for a good quality haircut that's done in a quick yet efficient manner. I'll come back here again for future cuts!

The hair stylist I usually go to get my hair cut wasn't taking appointments so I came to New Age upon recommendation from friends. I was able to make an appointment quickly and masks were worn the entire time. June took all my criteria into account (layers, thinned) and also gave good tips for maintaining my hair. She was efficient and the hair cut was well priced. I'll come back here for my future hair cuts!

I’m not exaggerating when I say I’ve gone just about everywhere in Ann Arbor trying a place that gave a good haircut for a fair price. After a lot of bad haircuts and a lot of $50 ones, I found new age and haven’t looked back. Hair cuts are $15 for men’s and $22 for women’s. Jun, the owner, has been cutting hair for over 30 years and is a wonderful person. Don’t let the small salon trick you, the girls here are talented. Show them a picture of what you want and don’t be afraid to ask them to fix something you see and you’ll leave happy.

my first time there and it was great! I asked for face framing layers, for her to thin out my hair so it wouldn't be as poofy, and for her to even out my hair (I went to aveda next door a couple months before and they cut it VERY uneven). I was in and out in less than 20 minutes and it was around $30 which is such a really good price for Ann Arbor. June cut my hair dry which is perfect for people who have wavy/curly hair.

I have been using this hair cutting shop for over 20 years. A great staff who takes pride in their work! They have been at it for a long time and can figure out quickly the look you are after. Juen the owner has a good eye for what will work and look good. It can get busy, but, they keep things moving. Waiting can be fun, meeting people from the Ann Arbor community. Something not always present in other downtown businesses.

June is amazing at cutting hair. I spent years looking for a decent barber to cut my hair after my original barber moved back to Cali. My luck has finally come with this gem in Ann Arbor. I drive 30 mins to cut my hair at this place and wouldn’t go anywhere else.

I am obsessed with this place. I've been coming for 6 years now and they're just fantastic for my needs. Super quick cut, they cut it dry, and you're in and out in 15 minutes. Jun does great with my thick, curly hair and she brings out more curls and texture in 15 minutes of a cut than I've had in years of expensive salon haircuts. $16 for a women's haircut! Seriously cannot beat that. Cheaper for men, too. Some people might be uneasy about a dry or fast cut but try it out, you won't regret it.
