I tried matcha and let me tell you it just tastes out of this world.
If you are struggling to pick one ice cream so the staff will ask you your taste and guide you better.
There is plenty of space outside to sit and relax with family and enjoy the ice cream with view.

Their sakura is still on my list, will try sometime soon.

This is a great place, the servers are quick and friendly and even a long line is rarely a long wait. There are a huge variety of flavors, but I'm going to tell you right now: order the bittersweet chocolate. It's one of if not the best chocolate ice cream I've ever had. Every time my wife gets something else, and it's always good, but she always tastes my bittersweet chocolate and agrees I ordered better. The cones are fresh made too, and they make a really good chocolate chip cookie. My dog loves the pupsicle as well. Nothing but five stars for all options.

Simply, Blank Slate has the most delicious ice cream and is the only ice cream I will eat. Blank Slate has been one of my favorite Ann Arbor establishments for 8 years. My favorite flavors include Matcha, Lavender Lemon Honey, Balsamic Strawberry, Dirty Chai (fall only), and !! White Chocolate Raspberry Swirl Chip !! Their milkshakes are also delicious and deserve a mention.

White Chocolate Raspberry Swirl Chip is my favorite ice cream in the world and blows the other already-incredible flavors out of the water. It has become a favorite of everyone that I’ve recommended it to. I have been so disappointed that it wasn’t offered this season - I have been checking constantly since I moved back to the area. Please bring it back to Ann Arbor!!

I love that they let you taste the flavors before committing, as they are always concocting new, interesting flavors. The flights are also a really fun way to sample multiple favorites or try new flavors.

The parking lot is not ideal and I’d recommend parking in the lot kiddy corner behind Aroma (if it’s after 6pm) or find free street parking nearby (on 2nd, 3rd, 4th Ave). Also, the lines can get long, but they move relatively quick and are worth the wait!

Excellent ice cream with amazing flavors to choose from. There's plenty of traditional flavors and lots that are more interesting like basil, strawberry-balsamic, and butterfly moon (like blue moon but with butterfly pea flower). Worth waiting in line for!

VERY VERY good ice cream. I have been trying to go here for a long time but there is always a huge line. Last weekend there was no line and I walked right in. I see what the hype is all about. The ice cream is incredible. The flavors are unique and there are a ton of choices - almost too many. The price for the serving is very generous. You can tell they use top shelf ingredients. The staff let me try whatever I wanted and knew all the flavors very well. I will definitely be back - even if there is a line.

I wish they could offer smaller size and more fruit flavors. I ordered the smallest size of the ice cream but I have to threw 1/3 away.

Truly great ice cream made at the shop! I did the sampler that came with four kinds for 8.25 - such a great deal. They make all their own cones too. The banana foster was sublime, and the apple crisp as well. I love small business ice cream shops that make all their own stuff SO MUCH. Clearly a lot of thought and pride goes into the flavors.

Amazing ice cream! So glad we made it in before they close for the season (12/18). And let me just say, thank you for actually having that on your website! Super friendly staff and an insane variety of flavors. We had to go with Gingerbread and Hot Cocoa for the season. Gingerbread was vintage gingerbread at its best! The molasses was perfect. I’m so impressed they nailed it so perfectly.

By far the best ice cream we have had in Michigan! Took advantage of the flights and tried many of their wonderful flavors.
The fresh basil with lemon olive oil drizzle was our family's favorite!

Lots of gourmet flavors to choose from, including a new one called Slate Slate Different, which is a collab with Homes Brewery in Ann Arbor. This takes their Same Same Different IPA mixed with vanilla cream, which surprisingly, the taste of the IPA does come through!

Strawberry lemonade sorbet was delicious with just the right amount of tartness, and hit the spot on a hot summer day! Blueberry pancake nice and creamy in a cone.

Mango sorbet was so smooth and flavorful. Honey lavender ice cream is another favorite and never disappoints! The cookies and cream shake was oh so good with lots of oreos mixed in!

Even though lines look long, service was quick and efficient with a smile!

So spectacular. This is easily the best ice cream in Michigan. They have unique flavors that are delicious and extremely high quality. Their cones are also fantastic and homemade. A must visit if you are in the area. Although don't be surprised if the line is extremely long if you visit on a weekend.

By far the best ice cream place I have ever been to in my life! They always have new flavors and the friendliest staff. My go to will always be the raspberry sorbet 💕. It’s a 40 minute drive for me but always worth it.

The employees were friendly and efficient and the ice cream is top notch! The ice cream is full of flavors and they don't skimp on the mix-ins. Even the waffle cones are flavorful! I had a ginger cookie to go along with my pumpkin crumble ice cream and oh my goodness what a heavenly combination!😋 Not only is the does Blank Slate have delicious confections, the chalkboard experience is delightful too. It's fun to see people's various flavor recommendations.

If you're in A2 looking for a treat, you have to try this place at least once. I've been going here a long time, recently went for the first time this year since weather is nicer. They have a yummy salted caramel ice cream I recommend if you're not usually big on ice cream. It has a great taste. They also have this super cute fairy door (places in A2 have them hidden around their business).

They redid the layout for 2018, there's slightly less indoor seating but it should be way better for traffic flow! And it's still my favorite place to get ice cream even if I don't make it here quite as often any more, their home made cones are the best!

2017 - Absolutely the best ice cream ever! The prices are extremely fair for such a high quality product. Yes it's down town Ann Arbor so parking can be a pain & the line can get long, but it's worth it. We especially love the take out ice cream & they even give you cones too! (the reusable containers rock :)

Love blank slate! They have amazing flavors and one of the best quality of ice cream. They have both traditional flavors and unique twists. They offer you samples as well to try em out.

Their waffle cones are made in house and fresh. Parking can be hard to find, but it’s worth it for the reward you get.

The ONLY place to go for ice cream in Ann Arbor. Seriously. Blank Slate is the place that makes everyone happy-- vegan options, gluten free options, classic flavors, creative flavors. They have it all! Every flavor they do, they do very well.

Pros: friendly workers and free samples, fantastic flavors, relatively affordable

Cons: the line can be a little long during busy hours (although it moves relatively quickly), the store itself can get very crowded with customers, there has been *one* time where I had a very stale cone for some reason

Some of my "comfort" flavors are the cookies & cream, browned butter cookie dough, and blondie caramel

Some of the more adventurous flavor favorites include fresh basil (get it w/ the lemon olive oil!) and loaded banana

Blank slate is the best ice cream place around. Their flavor selections ate phenomenal! I love the salty caramel coffee it's delicious. The lady digs the chocolate fudge brownie. Highly recommend

Still awesome, every time I visit. My comments from a while back still stand: So many delicious flavors of homemade ice cream - loved the salty caramel and the bananas foster ... Next time I'll order the sampler (4 flavors served on a slate) because every flavor looks amazing. There is seating inside and out. Parking is tricky. If you can walk from a Main Street parking spot, that would be best.

One of the most unique ice cream shops I've been in so far. They have a wide amount of different flavors and the two that I liked most were Blueberry Pancake and White Chocolate Raspberry. Very creamy and rich in flavor. The service is fast and the employees are very knowledgeable. Highly satisfied!
