This is my number one sushi place in Ann Arbor. In 2014-2018 when I lived in Ann Arbor/Ypsi, I’d find every excuse to come here! I believe it’s family owned and local to Ann Arbor. The sushi rolls are reasonably priced and always fresh tasting. I can’t not emphasize how much I love the spicy mayo and always get it on the side.

Sushi rolls left to right (3rd pic): spicy tuna, fried Philly roll, sadako crunch roll (the best roll)

Cozy, affordable, family-run sushi spot with very generous portions. The AC roll is my favorite! I first ate at Sadako almost 14 years ago, and I still haven’t met a ginger dressing I like as much I like theirs

My husband and I have been coming to Sadako for 20 years. It’s our favorite sushi place! Great sushi, casual atmosphere, friendly staff, reasonable prices. Their spicy salmon and avocado rolls are so simple, but perfection. The salad with ginger dressing is so good!

Best mix of value, taste, service and atmosphere that I’ve had at sushi bar in a long time. Wish they had real crab. Love the hand roll option for most rolls. Big rolls & FRESH fish!

Easily the best sushi place around campus in Ann Arbor! I get the fireball roll with crunch on top every time. Also, their salmon quality, miso soup, and side salad ginger dressing are the best I’ve ever had. The service is really efficient, and the food is very affordable. The staff are so friendly and welcoming, and we feel so at home here. I’ve been going here for 2.5 years now, and they’ve consistently been great, and JT always makes an effort to say hello. If you ever get the chance please stop by, as this is one of my all time favorite restaurants.

I enjoyed my lunch here. They had yummy sushi.
I would caution people to ask for more detailed descriptions of the roll that they are ordering because it's not very clear on the menu. We ended up getting something very different from what we had expected.
They seemed to have a bit of a lunch rush, so I wouldn't suggest it if you're in a hurry.

Sadako is legendary amongst my friends and myself. Ann Arbor has a variety of different delicious sushi options, but Sadako. Stands. Alone. Not only is the quality of their ingredients immaculate and their variety of delectable concoctions unique, but Sadako is a one-of-kind restaurant in terms of care and warmth. This restaurant has truly proved to be a second home for my girlfriend and I, and there has yet to be a bad day that cannot be turned around by a delicious Fireball Roll with Crunch. Ann Arbor is immensely lucky to have Sadako as a restaurant, and I’m eternally grateful to have it as a second home. ありがとうございます Sadako!

Recommend: Fire Dragon Roll

A Japanese sushi restaurant offering many options, with great flavors with great portion. Minor cultural modifications made while still staying true to the original.

Excellent food, most Japanese restaurants in the area are quite pricey and not very affordable, I can confidently say that not only was this restaurant the most affordable in my experience but also the best quality. Incredibly fast service, huge portion sizes. My personal favorite dish is the chicken katsu, it has a splendid texture, the perfect crunch. The ambiance of the chicken really resonated with my mouth, it was perfectly tender. The sauce was perfectly sweet and I found myself unable to finish without help from some friends, and I didn't even eat lunch. My friends can vouch for how hangry I was. For reference the plate was about the size of a standard regulation ultimate Frisbee. All in all I 100% percent recommend this establishment and would without a doubt dine here again.

Nestled within the heart of the Ann Arbor, Sadako is a sushi restaurant that promises a transcendent dining experience. But what I encountered on my recent visit was nothing short of extraordinary, as I watched a fellow diner's culinary experience turn into an intellectual revelation.

Walking into Sadako, the ambiance immediately sets the stage for an extraordinary dining journey. The decor is elegant, with subtle Japanese motifs that create a sense of tranquility. Soft, ambient music wafts through the air, adding to the overall serenity of the place.

The extensive menu offers a wide variety of sushi options, from classic nigiri to creative rolls. I decided to try the Crunch Roll, which came highly recommended by the staff. The roll itself was a masterpiece – a harmonious blend of tempura shrimp, avocado, cucumber, and a hint of spicy mayo, all encased in a delicate rice and seaweed ensemble. The presentation was as pleasing to the eyes as it was to the palate.

However, what truly made this dining experience extraordinary was the man seated at the adjacent table. He ordered the same Crunch Roll, and as he took his first bite, it was as if the flavors had triggered a remarkable transformation. His eyes widened, and his demeanor shifted from ordinary to extraordinary. It was as if the flavors unlocked a hidden reservoir of intellect within him.

As he savored each bite, he began to articulate profound insights on topics ranging from quantum physics to the philosophy of existentialism. He engaged in a spirited conversation with his dining companion, who appeared equally astounded by this transformation. The entire restaurant seemed to be drawn into their discussion, as if witnessing a live intellectual performance.

This serendipitous occurrence, while unusual, added an unforgettable dimension to my dining experience at Sadako. It was as if the Crunch Roll held the key to unlocking the mysteries of the universe. The juxtaposition of culinary delight and intellectual enlightenment left me in awe.

Love Sadako. Gotta love a college town for reasonably priced sushi. The standard rolls here are noticeably larger than other restaurants and the service staff are always friendly.

Must try: the namesake… Sadako crunch roll. Covered in tempura flakes. Epic

Not sure about the reviewer complaining loudly about being charged for wasabi and ginger because I’ve never seen that happen there and doesn’t make sense logically.

When in Ann Arbor… get Sadako sushi.

I’ve eaten sushi in a lot of different countries. I would recommend Sadako to anybody in the Ann Arbor Michigan area. The staff was attentive, (water, hot tea always full). The food was good and the price was extremely reasonable. I will come back when in the area.

Great taste, very friendly service and not expensive at all, definitely the best sushi in Ann Arbor. It is usually packed. You can also order and go pick up which is also an excellent choice

Service is always great at Sadako! Super kind and attentive staff. Wait time is about 10 minutes for moderately busy times. We tried the chicken katsu for the first time, and it was scrumptious. Would definitely get again, but maybe accompanied by 1 roll of sushi instead of 4 rolls for two people. Sadako never disappoints.

My wife and I have absolutely loved this place ever since we were in college. Great sushi, great atmosphere, really friendly staff. Now we're "townies," and this is our favorite place to go out with our two young kids (though, I do admit it's mostly college students, but we don't mind). The Sunny Roll, the Sadako Crunch, and the Fire Dragon are among my favorite rolls. Sadako is a place that cannot be beat for price and quality!
