My son has had birth-3 services through River Bend for over a year. I self referred because of concerns I had regarding his gross motor development when he was about 6 months old. My referral was addressed almost immediately. They performed a thorough evaluation and he ended up qualifying for further services due to his scores. The team he has worked with has been amazing and they have helped him reach all of his milestones. They have listened to all of my concerns and addressed them with professionalism and care. My son is now doing things just like his other toddler classmates and it’s all because of the teachers and therapist he has worked with at River Bend.

I have a 5 year old daughter with Down Syndrome and she wouldn’t be where she is today without the help of the Early Intervention Program at River Bend Education District. The Early Childhood Education teacher and Occupational Therapist team who worked with my daughter from 6 months to 3 years old were amazing! I did not know prior to my daughter’s birth that she would have Down Syndrome. She was born premature and spent just over a month in the NICU and Special Care Nursery in Rochester. When she came home it was a stressful time, not knowing about her developmental delays and the challenges that lie ahead. But the staff at River Bend treated my daughter and our family with the utmost respect, care, and concern. They answered all questions and concerns and provided the tools needed to help my daughter reach all of her developmental milestones. It has been 2 years since their services ended and when we see these ladies out in the community they treat my daughter with sincere kindness and compassion. I definitely recommend their services to families of children with special needs!!

We couldn't have been more impressed by the Zero to Three Early Intervention services our child received from the staff at RBED. The entire team worked together flawlessly. We were able to meet right in our child's daycare setting. The River Bend therapists worked with not only us but also the daycare staff, so we were all focusing on the same goals each session. When our child turned 3, they helped us transition to and navigate the special education programs of the school.

I am beyond impressed with RBED and their services. They have evaluated all three of my children. My second was referred for speech and excelled because of their help.

My third is currently enrolled and receiving in-home therapy. He has made leaps and bounds due to the excellent service he receives. Not only has our son made strides, but our family has been able to better care for him as we navigate life with a child who isn't hitting milestones. His disability has been hard to wrap our heads around and our OT from RBED always encourages us to keep pushing for answers through our son's doctors, which we are so grateful for.

The convenience of being able to stay home and have them come to us is such a perk. They use items in our home to help us assist our son which is great because when they leave, we can continue working with our son in the exact ways we were shown with nothing extra special required. They are all respectful and kind when they come to our home. Our son lights up on Monday mornings for his weekly visit.

There are no words to describe how appreciative we are for Miss Kristen and the other teachers from RBED who have been on this journey with our family.

All of the teachers are nice, but it's really stinky.

I made it a personal “value” to never leave a review with less than 5 stars for a business, but our experience with this district and those who are currently in power has been abhorrent. The kind of positivity that should be inherently awarded to small businesses does not apply to powerful agencies. This is a protected, governmentally funded entity that can uproot your sense of safety. This district became involved in our lives after I reached out to them for help.

Please think twice or thrice before allowing this district access to your children. The employees who came to our home, who head B-3 services, misnamed my son on our forms, left a hearing probe in his ear (which we only caught after they left and was removed with a tweezer), put another family’s address on our IFSP, misgendered our baby as a girl, rather than a boy, put down a false age for him (thereby shifting the qualifications of the exam), and they grabbed another one of our children by the arm in front of my husband. They also left official school forms on our porch without us there to grab them, unsealed. Most of these are serious FERPA violations. At worst, it is intentional malice, at best it’s blatant ineptitude. Worst of all, they submitted falsified and frivolous reports to the county regarding alleged “supervision concerns” about our older son for playing in our yard and on our porch (luckily the county sided with us and told us the reports were careless). Not everyone else could be so lucky, especially in such an elite community.

I get the sense that my family’s anger has been personalized by the aggressors as THEIR victimization. As if their jobs are somehow more important than the trauma they’ve caused us, and we are hurting THEM by being hurt. It’s unacceptable and unprofessional. The abuse of power is repugnant.

The reputation laundering occurring now by the B-3 heads in the form of begging for good reviews only forwards their monopolizing of disability services for our region. This approach is not dignified or honest. Congratulations to those of you fortunate enough to have a positive experience with these two employees. We wished for the same thing, but their bias and disregard got in the way of their ability to treat us kindly and with respect.

My family and I had a very traumatic experience with this district within the last six months. I hope no one will have to experience any trauma due to absolute carelessness and poor judgement by irresponsible staff when you are looking for assistance with your children.
