Authentic Italian family restaurant at its best! Nothing was left on our plates. Homemade pasta, fabulous pizza, fresh salads, delicious gnocchi & sole fish. Attentive server & old world charm.

Awesome pasta and atmosphere,,,we sat outside to people watch and enjoy the sun ,,,great wine ,,,,loved the meat ravioli with meat sauce,,,tried the sausage but I would have preferred it spicier and it seemed dried out ,,,loved the gelato and received great service,,,thank you !!

Fantastic food. Our party each tried the others dishes and everything we had was phenomenal. The chicken parmesan was very tender and delicious. If you're in the area please stop in.

Service excellent the rabbit stew was like my mothers. Pesto delish pulpo carpaccio tender tasty very nice. Feel like i am at home on a Saturday night. Live the dream

Original U.S. Restaurant is a wonderful experience--both for its food and service. This is a real, old-school Italian restaurant set in the heart of in North Beach, the heart of San Francisco’s Italian neighborhood. I have been going to this restaurant since I was a kid and its menu continues to feature classic U.S. Restaurant Italian dishes plus family recipes from Sicily.

This week we held our office Christmas Holiday Party at the Original U.S. Restaurant (which stands for “Unione Sportiva” after the fact that the restaurant used to feed SF’s Italian American athletic clubs in the late 19th century). The food is as great as ever, the wine selection from both Italy and California was wonderful, and the friendly, loving service makes you feel like you are eating at someone’s home. It was an honor to be greeted by one of the owners, San Francisco Giants executive Mario Alioto, who came by to say hello to our table. The Alioto family and a member of the restaurant’s founding family, Alberto Cipollina, own the place. If you want to eat great homemade Italian food in a traditional San Francisco restaurant this is the place to come to. And the food is reasonably priced and the portions are hearty.

Our group was especially fond of the following dishes that I list below: I have to put in a special word for the Chicken Milanese, homemade grilled Sicilian pork sausages, Gnocchi in pistachio cream sauce, and the Spaghetti alla Carbonara. Simply great!

This is our second time there and we have always been treated nice. Waiters are very helpful. Went there with no reservations and we got a table. Food is delicious! Small place but very romantic.

One more time .it was the best Italian food in town .we been coming to this place every time we are in san Francisco .i wished I could get the recipe for the pampardely a la boscaiola....or that LA was closer .

One of the oldest & best Italian restaurants in SF, the fish & pastas are amazing. My 6 month old Grand nephew managed to gum half a bowl of gnocchi w/pesto 👶 (making it 72 foods he's enjoyed so far). Wonderful SF history & photos cover the walls. The wait staff are very welcoming & knowledgeable with excellent advice about wine & food pairings. While this part of the city can be a traffic nightmare, easy parking is available nearby at the SF Metro parking garage. Definitely make a reservation & walk off the calories exploring afterwards 👍.

Original U.S. Restaurant is a great authentic Italian restaurant. Accommodating traditional Italian menu are pricey but worth to be paid for.
The staff is very friendly and I love their Italian pasta. Gotta be back here again with my family. Perfect place to eat comfy atmosphere.

I had an amazing experience here!! The food was great, especially the Alfredo!! The service was excellent! The wait staff was very kind and welcoming! A special shout-out to Dominico who made this such a fun atmosphere!! I can't wait to come back, and I highly recommend eating here!

Great pizza and outstanding service! Both of the owners came out to greet us and took very good care of us. Highly recommend this place! Being tourists, they gave us great insight about what to do in the city! Will be back next time we're in San Francisco.

Recently visited this place on a SF day trip and loved it! My family was searching for a decent restaurant because our first choice didn't have a big variety of food on the menu, and stumbled upon this gem! Food was absolutely amazing. And, the staff were very friendly. Made you feel like you were at home. Hope to come back soon!

We stopped in after SF Giants game, for a glass of wine while waiting to eat at restaurant next door. Instead, we enjoyed talking with Mario, cancelled our reservations at restaurant next door and enjoyed a delicious Authentic Italian dinner! We thank Mario, his son and all the wonderful staff who made a special day even better. I highly recommend everyone to go to US RESTAURANT and enjoy a wonderful meal next time you're in San Francisco!

The U.S. Restaurant has always been known as the place to enjoy Italian food in an atmosphere that felt just like nonna’s house on a Sunday afternoon. Grandparents and kids alike have enjoyed its family style atmosphere throughout the years and it was common for the staff to greet customers by name when they walked through the door. It has always been the neighborhood’s kitchen where everyone would see someone they knew. There are many things that are new at the new location a few blocks down the street, but its nice to see that the experience remains the same. Love this place.

Very good old line Italian place in SF for many years and in new location for one year. Our family has 35 for late lunch every year the day after Christmas. Wonderful service and the food is great and reasonably priced. 5 stars for a great experience!

Excellent. Rene our waitress had nothing but smiles. This place feels like home and she treated us like family. Some restaurants are too professional but not here. She didn't come back with more water or napkins or even another glass of wine. Who cares. Just like home somebody forgets something. I didn't come here for water or napkin service. I came for the ambiance and food and that is what we received. Had the lasagne and my taste buds woke up. My friend had the Pollo Piccata. Excellent. Real Italian. Real San Francisco.

Atmosphere is wonderful and food is delicious! Thought the Thursday daily special of corned beef and cabbage was still on the menu...it wasn't, however I tried the roasted eggplant sandwich and it is now one of my favorites!

My school took a trip to San Francisco and during the 4 day trip we went to the U.S Restaurant 3 times. The staff is friendly and understanding giving us a sense of home away from home. 100% recommend this restaurant for anyone in the area!!
