Best bread in the city. Best baguette in the city. Their pizza dough to take home is delicious. Would recommend their hot sandwiches or warm breakfast treats. Their cookie logs are also phenomenal! Everyone is so kind and they allow dogs to come in and eat in their back patio! $3.50 for a baguette in April 2024 ❤🥖

The ham and cheese croissant is the best of ever had in San Francisco. Oh my God. I did get a black coffee which maybe was a mistake, cuz it was not that great. But honestly that doesn't matter. Every single pastry looks amazing, I will be back and will be getting espresso instead of drip.

Lovely cafe in the Duboce Triangle. Outside doesn’t indicate the inside. There’s a sit in portion as well as a cool outside where they have a calm vibe. They offer a wide array of pastries and teas and coffee. I got an almond croissant and it was really good! Want to try their bread at some point.

Just stumbled upon Thorough Bread & Pastry, a charming bakery and coffee shop that bakes their own goodies. The staff here is fantastic! There's a sunny street-side area and a cozy backyard. They've been a local gem for years. Unfortunately, the recent city construction on Church Street has made it challenging to see if they're open, impacting their business significantly. Super tasty desserts and sandwiches. Got the almond croissant, pulled pork sandwich, and chicken melt sandwich. The almond croissant had very good flakiness and the cream in the center was just the right amount. Both sandwiches tasted great. The price came to about $26, which is superb for the quality. They also don't ask for tips - this is all self-serve.

The staff are some of the nicest people I’ve ever had the pleasure of meeting. I go in every week to get some chocolate pastries. I currently struggle with anxiety which causes a stutter when I speak. The workers are incredibly patient and helpful when I’m ordering and they never complain or seem off put by my disabilities.

Wow.....Describes Thorough Bread & Pastry. Thank you for breathing life back into Church Street & Market Street. Amazing bakery and staff. I absolutely love the compliment of sight Glass Coffee. So classy and European. The rear outdoor seating is perfectly unkept which feels natural.

The croissants are here are AMAZING. This place could easily compete with Arsicault. The ham and cheese croissant is creamy and savory. It has almost a béchamel like sauce instead of just cheese. I was very impressed. Everyone is super nice and the best part is how quick the service was.

Really enjoyed the berry croissant (warmed slightly in the toaster oven). So rich but bright tasting!

Just discovered this place and so glad I did. I have never had such a wonderful staff. We have been looking for pulled pork sandwiches everywhere and low and behold we found the best ever. Buy 3 or 4 a week and everyone is perfect on freshly bread. So glad I found this place.

I am bias when I go to San Fransisco, to me everywhere I go, food is being reinvented around every corner. And maybe it is, but I have yet to enter any place in SF that doesn't have some greatness all in its own and Thorough Bread is a must see. Their Almond Croissants are chewy and crisp with a perfect blend of almond flavor.

The almond croissant here tastes as best as those from Tartine & bit less expensive if you want to skip the long line at Tartine & not a huge fan over there. Their mini cream puffs are fabulous but sold out this morning. Got coconut macaroons instead. These macaroons are big. Love their savory pastries as well. Bought the ricotta tomato this time to try it out. Olive bread is also amazing but now only available on weekend.

One of the best almond croissant I have eaten. Warm and just the right amount of almond paste inside. We also ordered the pulled pork and chicken melt for lunch. Mm mm mmmmm.....

Stylish bakery with a peaceful urban garden at the back.

I ordered a quiche slice, very flavorful with a delicate cheese crust. They rotate the flavors. The servers were very welcoming. The bakery itself was remarkable, both the interior and the numerous pastries. At the back, you can lounge in a delightful, peaceful urban garden.

I definitely reaffirmed my buyer’s anxiety as soon as I walked into this place. Like it’s way beyond indecisiveness. You take a quick look around and you realize you will either walk out with at least more than you need or will have to come back very soon to try something else! I had a very luscious blueberry scone which had a really nice homey feel to it! Definitely want to try the raspberry croissant next time! Love the cute little patio out in the back! Definitely bring a book and relax!

Always a pleasant experience every time I visit Thorough Pastry since I moved to the neighborhood a year ago. I always love getting their almond croissant and my recent favorite is their mushroom danish. But what sparked me to post is this review is this incredible Christmas tree they put up that’s made of baked goods. Wow!

Everything made in house. Great pastries, breads, sandwiches. Friendly staff. Adorable back patio. One note: get an ice machine for your cold brews :)
