Fabulous pastries! Morning bun was exceptional. Would recommend to give this bakery a visit. We did a take out and walked to nearby Dolores Park for a relaxing picnic. Quick but important note - we took a bus from union square and it passed by Mission district which felt very unsafe. Would recommend to take an Uber or drive if possible.

Amazing morning buns-Orange zesty and delicious. I tried the Jalapeno ham croissant it's good. Two locations make sure you hit up on the one on Guerrero. Give it a try if you are in SF area.

This is a cute and small bakery located in San Fransisco where they mainly serve croissants, cold and hot sandwiches and desserts such as tarts, cakes, and pies. This was my first time experience and I absolutely loved it! I ordered their spicy turkey sandwich (which wasn't spicy) which was served with a pickled carrot. It tasted delicious and was filling. The cafe also has paintings hung on walls which can be purchased. The cafe seems to be quite popular with the youth, they can be seen hanging out with their friends over a cup of coffee. Highly recommend if you're visiting!

I came by this place due to the high amount of great reviews. The bakery I got in the photo attached did not disappoint. I was thinking about it all day after I had it. One of the best bakery no wonder why this place is so popular. I don't have much to say about their other items since I didn't try it, but I'd retuen to just try this one again!

Outstanding by any measure. The bread was unreal, as were every bit of everything sold out of the cafe. The team of professionals behind the counters killed it also! So so very good

Updating for my 2nd visit December 9…..the Shitake mushroom Croque Monsieur is heavenly, even better than my fav which is ham and cheese. I happily consumed both with my wife and another applewood ham and cheese croissant for good measure as a full week had passed since first visit. The sautéed carrots served with each Croque Monsieur were superb. This time bought a monster supply for friends and neighbors who raved - and now owe me.

From my first visit December 2…..Baked bread and pastries mecca with a well deserved reputation for exceptional quality. The croissants are out of this world and pretty much exceed anything Europe has to offer. The ham and cheese croissant is superb with real French Gruyère cheese and applewood ham in generous quantity that almost make a complete meal. Best I’ve had in the last 40 years, and devoured 2 for a thorough analysis. Chocolate croissants are elegantly laced with 2 bars of Valhrona semisweet chocolate that offer a rich confectionary taste bud experience. Yep - ate that too on site. These perfectly flakey, multilayered, buttery pastries were accompanied by a delicious cafe latte expertly prepared by Aaron who patiently listened to how I wanted it prepared while smiling kindly and delivered a home run. Aaron pushed service rating into 5 stars as other employees provided average service. The premises are cramped, lines are long, parking difficult. Would I go back - you bet your applewood! Thank goodness I purchased 6 more to take home as writing this review caused my stomach to growl and dig into the bag. Too bad Aaron doesn’t do house calls. Vive Tartine!

Amazing atmosphere, quality of service and incredible flavors. Everything is awesome, and you should try something new every time you visit. The pudding is simply amazing!! Thanks for all the effort and love on it.

Really great quality (almost enough to make me overlook the prices!). Ham and potato quiche was delish, as were the croissants, gougère, and chocolate-rye cake I took home. The oatmeal porridge bread traveled well and made epic sandwiches. Only odd thing was that the side salad was just a bowl of romaine. Shallot dressing was nice but still… $7.75 for a bowl of romaine was disappointing.

I have been thinking about my “pilgrimage” from St. Louis Missouri to Tartine for years now and yesterday I finally checked this place off my bucket list!

The country loaf was outstanding! It has a simple flavor at first and then as you chew the bread the flavor evolves unleashing a mild and pleasant tangy taste.

We also tried almost all their pastries that were all delicious but of course the morning bun stole my heart and now all I have is a faint memory of sweet orange zest.

Everyone was kind and efficient. The staff worked energetically as they dealt with a large volume of people expediently, kindly and patiently.

I’m so glad I got to visit here!

Pure heavenly delight! The croissants transported me back to my European travels. I’d take a day flight to indulge in one bite with no regrets. It’s worth the trip —DO IT!

I visited on Tuesday after Thanksgiving at 2 PM, and there was nobody in line! Completely unheard of. I’ve been maybe 10 times, and this time I finally got to see the ease, beauty of all the pastries and the kind, hip people behind the counter

Came here twice during our one week visit to California. Loved their croissants, Croque, and coffee. The service line is long but goes very fast. Super attentive staff and nice! Don’t forget to try their egg sandwich too - Out of this world!

One of the best bakeries in town. Their Morning Bun is the best. Great cake options. Unfortunately they run out of sourdough bread very fast, i could not get any by 1 pm. Staff was very nice. They have great coffee options too.

Ordered a Frangipane Croissant. This had an almond cream filling and brandy. You can taste the smooth brandy in there and the buttery (sometimes crispy) flakiness of the exterior. Cute shop with very delicious looking pastries and fragrant fresh goods. Very quick line as they help you get your order ready. Seating fills up quickly and is very busy, still calm enough to carry a quiet conversation. Employees are friendly and corner location is convenient to find just a few blocks away from Dolores Park.

One of the best crosisants I've had. Flaky and crispy on the outside with soft and buttery on the inside. Had a pain au chocolat and a butter croissant and they were both incredible. Would totally be my go-to spot if I lived in SF

I have been looking forward to Tartine since, admittedly, getting into making my own sourdough during the pandemic. I had to double, triple, check I was at the right place because there was no line (it was pouring down rain in a days long storm).

Their baked goods did not disappoint. Bread and a butter was a must along with the morning bun.

After having started my own sourdough journey with Tartine's cookbook, I was excited to try their bread in person! I opted for simply bread and butter and it was absolutely phenomenal. My only suggestion would be to serve 2-3 thicker slices rather than 4 thin slices. After toasting, I wasn't able to enjoy a soft+chewy crumb I was hoping for.

Came for morning breakfast. Luckily the line was not long and there was seating outside. We got the Banana Chocolate Tart (MUST TRY) and their turkey croque monsieur with latte. I would say pass on the coffee, there are better options within walking distance (Four Barrel and Ritual). It was amazing baked goods for a gloomy morning!

This is a must stop if you’re looking for fresh pasties and bakery items.

We had to try a few things and none of them disappointed. The quiche was so delicious and the carrot was a surprise to. It must be pickled or something as the flavor has a little kick to it.

I would highly highly recommend coming here. Be prepared to wait. There was a line out the door! They do have options to order ahead and pick up.

They offer coffee and cappuccinos here as well.
