Golden Farmer Market

This is a great medium small neighborhood supermarket that has about 95% of my needs. Great selection of foods and products from different countries and cuisines. Produce is hit or miss, but mostly hit and very reasonable in price. All in all, quite affordable compared to Whole Paycheck a couple blocks away. Also, friendly storekeepers to help you out.

They have nearly everything you need in this small store and the checkout line rarely has more than one person in front of you. I laugh at the people traipsing up to Trader Joe's to wait in long lines for produce that is vastly inferior to that in this store.
I've seen some comments on the meat section and there is some validity. Check the pack dates, which are accurate, and if it is within the last 2 days your selection will be A+. I go here all the time for fish and chicken.

Best produce around these here parts. I even overheard from passers by that they're famous! I have to agree bc whenever I buy leafy greens like cilantro anywhere else, they're wilted in 24 hours.

However, when I buy produce from HERE, I swear, it lasts a week! Their produce here is the freshest and cleanest you can buy. Only place better would be the Farmers' Markets. If I cannot make it down, I know I can rely on this mercado never to disappoint!

Whole Foods and Trader Joe's super alternative grocery store. They have variety of Mexican and Asian ingredients!

This place has everything! Produce is super fresh. The store has a huge variety of staples, high-end and also the usual stuff. Great find!!

Support your local markets! The employees here are very helpful. Trader Joe's level minus the Hawaiian shirts. Although small, it has a great variety of essentials like beans, noodles/pasta/rice, oils, and spices. A fuller variety of East and South Asian spices/products than your typical small grocer - if you're looking for za'atar or roast red pork seasoning mix, you'll find it here.

Excellent quality products. Not a corner quick shop at all. They have high-quality, healthy products. They even have a butcher counter, which I visit every time I'm there. It's very nice to be able to request select cuts, made to order. The variety of produce is incredible for such a small location. The prices are very reasonable. I stop here every few days to do all of my grocery shopping. I'll never go to Safeway again. Even with Trader Joe's opening a block away, and Whole Foods two blocks away, I'll still come here. The staff is also incredibly nice!

I lived in the city for many years, and left five years ago. I was reminiscing tonight, curious if this store was still there, and I’m so glad that it is… The friendly service and warm welcome always added a much needed touch of humanity to the end of my workdays. I always stopped here as I got off the bus on Polk and collected my groceries to lug uphill. Thank you to the owners and staff, from the bottom of my heart. Your food was always fresh, delicious and very well priced. And most importantly, your customer service was top notch. You ARE San Francisco. The San Francisco I remember so well.

Enter on Polk. Slightly below ground. Although alot is packed into small store, the isles are not crowded and impassable like some places. Incredible selection and quality in produce for such a place. Might call the brand selection as 'health food' style. But is really just offering quality stuff. Meat selection is never old or past due. Dairy and yogurt very diverse in selection. Lots of crackers and flatbreads of Euro origin. Always and very clean. I did not specifically check but I think all their stuff is Halal or Kosher. And quite a bit of flavors and unique varieties of pop, so no Coke no Pepsi or other commercial brands. (Which is good)

Great little local grocery store with decent pricing on very fresh produce. They even have their own butchery out the back

This is the best value supermarket in the neighborhood. I come here every week for staple items. Some specialty items they miss, but produce is great and big selection.

Not big but have everything you need. It's amazing that they have Mexican ingredients and many different Asian ingredients. Also have some Korean stuff like instant noodles(Buldak etc), frozen foods and other things.

Awesome grocery that sells ingredients that stores like Whole Foods or Trader Joe’s don’t usually stock, especially if you cook a lot of Asian food. It’s one of the few places in the city where I can find oyster sauce one one aisle and Arborio rice on the other.

The fresh produce selection is also quite unbeatable for a small grocery.

Great selection of produce, and grocery items with very reasonable pricing! Nice wine and beer options. Small frozen and meat deli section. They have pretty much everything you need here at this convenient location, and the staff is friendly and helpful!!

I walk a long way in order to do my grocery shopping here. The main reason is for the low prices: they charge half as much as the small grocery/liquor stores near me. I've always been very happy with the freshness, quality, and selection of fruits and vegetables. They also have an excellent meat department. Note that they have fewer packaged and canned good than other grocery stores, and they have no prepared ready-to-eat food. So, it's a great place to buy ingredients to cook your own meals: healthy and affordable.

Great selection (at least for me). They carried ample quantities of everything I need on a weekly basis. I havent found many grocery stores in the area that also have a butcher (seafood/poultry/pork/beef). Staff was very friendly and helpful. The place was spotless and there wasn't a large crowd of people, unlike the Whole Foods nearby.

This is how it works at a farmer's market! Anything I want is readily available. The effort it took to get here was well worth it. I was fully delighted with all of their fruits and vegetables. I'm certain I'll visit this farmer's market again in the future. The apples are delicious, the grapes are lovely, and the region is immaculate.

Fav grocery in this part of town. Effectively stocked - punches far above its weight class. You can honestly get just about any culinary thing you need

A great neighborhood market offering value and friendly service - something not easy to find in this part of the city. With produce prices at less than half of that charged by Safeway for quality that is equal or better, Golden Veggie Market on Polk by California streets is an amazing value. Even their dairy and cheese prices are low. One of their many nice touches is their reusable and soft but strong cloth bags that they offer at ten cents per - a far superior alternative to the paper or plastic choice offered everywhere else. For a neighborhood market, I highly recommend it.
