I secured reservations well in advance for my bday dinner. I'm so glad I did! It was amazing! Everything we ate was absolutely perfect! We ordered 9 plates for 2 people and took home 4 to-go boxes! We definitely over ordered, but we wanted to try so many things! Tapas sizes are perfect for 2. I even scored a free dessert for my birthday! This place is in my top 3 best restaurants in Charlottesville. Can't wait to go back!

The staff was friendly and efficient. Parking can be difficult to find, as it's all street parking.

We hadn’t been to Mas in a little while. The menu was slightly updated, and the food blew me away more than ever! That is consistency. Again, the patatas bravas were amazing. They had a kick to them, and the sauce is perfection. They were as good or better than the best versions we had in Spain. The grilled halloumi skewers were another favorite. The pan tomato was improved ~ absolutely scrumptious with the burrata and green sauce. Just wow! We preferred the artichokes to the Brussel sprouts. Bread and olive oil are always top quality.
I love that you can now make a reservation. Can’t wait to come back!

FIVE YEARS AGO: Just like being in Spain but without the Mediterranean. Everything is top notch! Save room for chocolate mousse. I'm addicted to their potatoes bravas. Our waitress was super! Get here early, especially on weekends. The line behind up to half an hour before opening.

Every tapas dish was absolutely delicious and perfectly plated. The grilled octopus had a nice char, and the sauce and charred lemon was a great combo with the octopus. Texture was just the right amount of chew. Would highly recommend the gambas parillas. So garlicky and salty delicious. The hanger steak was perfectly cooked and seasoned. Look forward to coming back here again and trying more dishes.

There’s a reason they are always so busy! It’s so different now that they take reservations. We didn’t have one so were stuck at the bar this time. It’s a bit too hectic to be enjoyable for conversation. But no complaints about the food, though!
The patatas bravas are always a favorite with us. Rioja is great. I didn’t like the sangria as much.
Bread and olive oil ~ nothing compares to that Spanish olive oil. I didn’t enjoy the flavor of the albondigas (meatballs); in fact, from the menu description, I didn’t expect them to be meatballs. The halloumi cheese was different but delicious! The sauce was unexpectedly slightly sweet. The shrimp was delicious, and the sauce made it perfect.
All in all, another incredible meal at Mas!

I LOVE Mas. When I was in college, it was a "treat yo self" type of place. Since graduating, it's definitely become one of my must-go-to restaurants while in Charlottesville. I have shared Mas with so many of my loved ones and they all love it too. With covid, they started taking reservations which I love. I have waited over an hour for a table before because it's worth it but I'm so glad I don't HAVE to anymore. The reservations do tend to book up quickly so be sure to plan ahead. The food that I always order include the carne asada (racion portion), papas bravas (tapas portion), artichoke dip, and the bacon wrapped dates. This past visit, my family also tried the paella and cheesecake which were both yummy. If you're not super adventurous, I would recommend getting a tapas portion of a few things and then ordering more of whatever you like. The price is the same for two tapas portions as one racion portion.

Aside from the amazing food, the service is always so friendly. It's a busy restaurant but the service is quick and you get your food mostly in batches, around the same time. There is an attached parking lot but it's not super big. There is plenty of street parking nearby which is nice and Mas is right by the "I Love Charlotesville A Lot" sign which I would also recommend visiting.

I would recommend trying out Mas. It's one of the gems of cville

Beautifully renovated building with indoor and outdoor seating. The staff was pleasant and professional and helpful in ordering. Expertly made entrees that ranged from surf to turf to garden. Not to mention the bacon wrapped dates that we had as an appetizer. This is a must stop location if you're visiting Charlottesville, and a wonderful treat for us who live here. Bon appetit.

Cozy, laid-back local tapas place with delicious food. Strongly recommend the beacon dates, mussels and the carne asada!

Incredible experience - what a unique spot. The Paella was just right but the artichoke dip was to die for. Come here with friends and share - you wont regret it.

Great food and atmosphere. Really enjoyed it here. Thought everything was reasonably priced as well. Went after a day of hiking and got 5 dishes to split with a friend. We left full. Portions weren't huge, it's tapas, but were appropriate. Highly recommend getting some type of potatoes. That was a large portion and filled us up!

What a difference great service makes. Engaged staff and interesting fusion flavor combinations and preparation approaches. I can highly recommend - and tell you to go on a week day to appreciate it the most - like keeping a secret all to yourself!

Mas tapas earns my vote as one of top restaurants in Charlottesville. Mas accomplishes the ambiance, thrill, and fulfillment when it comes to dining. Keep in mind, you are paying for indulgence and decadence but if you prefer to keep it minimal, you can't go wrong with a whole serving of Paella and bread service.

Often, you get the gist of a place after one visit - this is not one of those places. They have a sizable menu and you really can't go wrong with anything, I really look forward to visiting again more than once and finishing out their entire menu.

The tuna and the lamb where absolutely incredible, highly recommend (I've added photos of them).

They have jamón Ibérico and it appears to be the real deal.

This is everything you would be looking for in a diverting tapas place - and only one of two tapas places in town!

Among top 5 in Charlottesville.

Did you make dinner plans? That's great! Now cancel them and go to Mas.

Seemingly limitless menu sheet of tasty plates ordered vis-a-vis sushi, each plate a perfectly executed Spanish taste treat. From the farm-simple jamon y queso to the chicken liver pate, every dish left you wanting more which I suspect is why this is the most aptly named restaurant around. Service could not have been better, the incredibly friendly bartender nailed every request (if you have any trouble navigating the wine list, worry not - this girl has you covered- her name was Chrissy...I think?) and this is a place you should frequent as regularly as you possibly are able.

10 stars out of ten. The chicken liver pate was UNBELIEVABLE!!

I love Mas! I’ve only been a few times but it has always been amazing. My husband and I went last night for our anniversary and we had the best time. The staff were all super friendly and taking all COVID precautions. The food and cocktails were delicious. We will be back! Worth the 45 minute drive, for sure. Please excuse my poor photo…it does not do the food justice.

Shared a spinach salad, bacon wrapped dates, cheese plate, and brussels sprouts, and a glass of wine (don't remember which) with my mom. Everything was amazing - the service is great, the food is delicious, and the atmosphere is welcoming! I've been back numerous times :-)

This was one of the best meals I have had in a while. The cauliflower dish is simply amazing. Four of us split 9 tapas and left satisfied.

The vibe here is so amazing. First time in Charlottesville and some friends suggested this place. It truly did not disappoint. The smoked tomatoes and bacon wrapped dates were my favorite and whoever made my dirty martini knows whats up.

Amazing food and gracious server assisting us. The Duck stands out, but we loved the broccolini, the white anchovies and the meat balls,
