Poor Richards Sandwich Shop

Ben just got fries, I had gotten the Cali wrap, and Dave got the Greek wrap all with adding fries. After finishing off half the wraps and half the fries is when I decided to snap a few photos.
The food is delicious, the service is awesome, and the whole place is just adorable. It was my first time eating here, and I loved every bite. The wraps were $14.45 bucks each (adding fries to make it $1.50 more, so if you don't add fries, they're $12.95) and worth every penny. The chicken is large pieces of breast and so filling. You can't go wrong with such a large menu for a sandwich shop. Stop by and enjoy some lunch and then walk it off shopping at the shops and see the lighthouse. The littles can enjoy the playground by the water. It is truly a such place to visit.

We, non-locals, picked this place for a nice lunch, and may I say we were incredibly satisfied. I had the rockfish wrap and if you like fish and coleslaw this is an absolute MUST! The staff was lovely and I love the decorations. You’re also so close to the water!!

Very American Name. That's what attracted me. Ben Franklin wrote, among other things, the Poor Richards Almanac. I had to see what they were and how they tied the name in with food. Best burger I have had in more than a year. Pimento cheese on a 1/3 lb patty and fresh pickles, chopped onions, thick dill pickle... it was messy, but so good. Fries were flavorful and crisp, but I only ate a few. The burger took all the space. I love that you can sit inside, out on the covered patio, or on the lawn by the water. The mural is an excellent representation of the area. My wife got the crab cake sandwich which she enjoyed with onion rings and some of my fries. Excellent location and amazing food. All American Made!

This shop/pub is really a fun time! The food part smells delicious and has a great menu that features Boar's Head deli meats and cheeses. The bar part is warmly lit and cozy it. The wood facade, dart board, and spacious seating all create a very welcoming environment. I highly recommend stopping here if you are hungry or want to grab a drink! 👍👍

This is an amazing Sandwich shop! The location is wonderful, the staff is friendly and helpful and the location is spotless and clean. This is honestly one of the best Italian subs I’ve ever had. I had the side of the artichoke pasta salad and Linda had the side of the battered fries. The food is exceptional and worth the price. The price is mid range for this type of food however, it is well worth it. This restaurant exemplifies what a five star review should be. The next time I’m in the Outer Banks area I am definitely going to go here again to get another sub or sandwich.

Outstanding Reuben. Two things that ruin a
Reuben for me: (1) Thick, tough corned beef. This was chopped up well, and very tender and tasty. (2) Bad ingredient proportions (too meaty, too cheesy, too bready, etc.). Everything was balanced great on this one. The sauerkraut popped but didn't overpower, the rye was a nice thin-to-medium thickness and perfectly grilled. Well done! Loved it.

The restaurant itself is very unassuming, just a typical, friendly local diner vibe, with an outdoor patio that I did not check out. My wife and I were vacationing from out of state, came here for lunch one day after visiting the Elizabethan Gardens amd getting a recommendation from the staff there. Will definitely return if we're back in OBX.

We really enjoyed our stop here. Probably the best food in the area considering that it’s run by adults. Food was really well made and hot. Drinks were strong and enjoyable. Ambience was just like a bar but also family friendly. Would rather come here than the other places in the neighborhood.

An amazing little place. We absolutely loved it. After the aquarium we decided to go to the water front and see what interesting sights we could find. It was past lunch time and we had not eaten yet. As we walked around we found Poor Richard's and our life is now changed for the better. Great service and the food is amazing. Lunch is from 11-3. Not sure about dinner. Check the daily specials. Highly recommend.

We visited Manteo for a concert. We took the day after the concert to have lunch and explore the area. We picked this establishment for lunch based on online reviews. It came highly recommended and rightly so. Each member of our party thoroughly enjoyed our respective meals. I had the crabcake sandwich. I love all seafood! The sandwich was massive and tons of crabmeat! But I must say, my husband and friend ordered a special they had, dill pickled chicken sandwich I believe. It was the best chicken sandwich I have ever had. So much flavor and the breading on the chicken was super crispy. So much flavor in one sandwich. I was very surprised that I actually preferred that sandwich to my crabcake sandwich. I also posted here a picture of the fountain drink machine. I was so extremely pleased to see they had a separate fountain tap for just water. So many places have the water with the lemonade etc. You have to run the water to avoid having the main drink flavor come through. I only drink water and when the hint of flavor from other drinks comes through. You just can't imagine how happy this small feature made me. Also it felt the need to mention the bathroom. The paper towels provided in the dispenser were the best quality I have ever used in a public establishment. They were so thick it almost felt like cloth. And you only needed one to actually dry your hands. Seems like a funny thing to notice but if you ever use them you will understand. As I walked out I mentioned it to my friend and she said the exact same thing. I would highly recommend this establishment if you are in the area. Even worth traveling to Manteo to give it try. We ate on the deck on the water front. Had a great breeze and a beautiful view for a our amazing lunch.

Fantastic lunch joint. Lots of indoor and outdoor seating. We loved the Heart Attack Wrap and the Greek Chicken wrap, and the sweet tea was superb. Right on the Manteo waterfront with fantastic views.

If I could give this restaurant 6 stars I would. You can’t go wrong here.

Excellent crab sandwich yesterday that contained big chunks of crabmeat. It was so good that we came back today for a grilled cheese with clam chowder. Very nice restaurant and very reasonable. Definitely worth a visit!!

With so many choices in the area, let alone in Manteo, we were fortunate to find Poor Richards. Not a huge menu, but what they offer is some good stuff! The rockfish wrap was delicious! Fish tasted fresh and the wrap was flavored well. The grilled knockwurth was also very good. We will have to go back and try the rest of the menu!

Well that when I’m in town I always go to poor Richards and have my usual the Reuben sandwich with french fries it’s absolutely delicious everybody is so nice and accommodating to me they treat me like Family . After visiting my family some very close friends and I go to poor Richards for the evening to enjoy beverages and listening to the entertainment they have it’s beautiful on the waterfront this all town quiet nice cool breeze is in May and April nice and warm in the summer very lovely place to visit I love poor Richards I will go back very often thank you poor Richards for being there you’re a great place to visit and entertain my friends and family I love it very much been going there for years what a great place!!!

Yummy. We got takeout and the order was correct and available promptly. Everyone enjoyed the food. Cookies are large and homemade but the chips are bland ruffle types. Sandwiches are yummy and we got five different ones but avoid the club for takeout because it gets a bit soggy. Cucumber salad was our favorite side!

Fantastic sandwich shop in manteo. Restaurant is downtown and on the waterfront. Menu has a good mix of hot and cold sandwich options. Food did not disappoint. Staff were friendly and managing a lunch crowd rush w/ minimal waiting. There is a bar up front, but was not open when I was there. Sitting on the back deck by the water with the breeze makes the experience at poor richards tough to beat.

One thing that not many mention is a great Beer and IPA selection. Dine in area was small but cozy. Staff was friendly. The food was amazing and fair priced! I had a very tasty buffalo chicken wrap. The wife had a very big cold cut sandwich that was so big we took the second half home and I finished the next day and it was amazing. My teenage kids are vegetarian and they had options to fit their needs and fill their bellies! I think you would enjoy a stop here.

I didn't like it. I loved it. The food was so good that I almost gobbled it all up. Especially the service, 11/10. Neat and organized orders. Highly recommend this place!!

Yall have GOT to change the name of this restaurant! If we hadn't googled to look at the menu we would've honestly skipped the place, ( we aren't huge on cold subs etc). The rockfish wrap was great, the burger was great, and the fries and onion rings were SUBLIME!! Needs to be something like poor Richard's grill or something. We will absolutely be back next year and the year after that. Thanks for the delicious food and beers.

After visiting Elizabethan Gardens, my friends & I stopped here for lunch. It was busy, so there was a short wait; but the service was great. I ordered the steakhouse salad(a cheeseburger & fries also..I know..I know..) & I just thought it was amazing. I was visiting from WV & i'll definitely be coming here again when I return the next time.

Absolutely amazing service at the bar. Marty had consistent laughs and smiles through out the night. Live band was perfect which set a mellow but energetic vibe.
