Always a great meal at Harper. The fried chicken is excellent! The burgers are also really great. Pork chop is stellar. Fair prices on beer and drinks. Nice atmosphere. I always recommend it when people come to Tryon.

What a welcomed surprise. We had no idea what to expect. This place has a great atmosphere as a redone 1891 cellar of the building above. The food was perfect. I had meatloaf with mashed potatoes and collard greens. Fantastic! My wife had the patty melt. Again, awesome! The service was first class by Shelly. We're going back for brunch on Sunday. Great local beer selection as well.

We visited for Sunday brunch and the Eggs Benedict were beautifully prepared.

Our server was very friendly as well.

I recommend making a reservation and coming early as brunch on Sunday is busy.

The prices are reasonable for this location, the quality is good and the restaurant is very clean.

The location is also historic as well.

Great food and drinks. The chef was trained at the prestigious Johnson & Wells with 20 years in the business. The food is always consistent and you can tell it’s prepared by a trained chef. The maple bacon wrapped meatloaf is out of this world and so are the collard greens. SUPER CLEAN and very nice waitstaff.

What a neat little restaurant! I took the family after church and had brunch. The atmosphere is very pleasant and the staff made you feel right at home. I had the Western omelet with biscuits and gravy and my wife had the shrimp and grits. The food was simple fantastic. We felt like we were sitting in downtown Charleston. Harper's is a must if your close to Tryon and want a taste of Charleston.

Great friend chicken, collards and Mac & cheese. Plus! Live music several nights a week. If you find yourself in Tryon, stop in or take a special drove to seek it out. You will be glad you did.

This is what you get when you get southern hospitality with great food and a fantastic location. There's really nothing wrong with Harper Eatery. Having dinner with my family on vacation was a pleasure. The staff was terrific and the food was great. It's family friendly as well, not to mention the live music on Saturday was a perfect touch to make our visit a memorable one.
We always come to the area at least once a year and I'm sure we'll go back to Harper considering the great visit we had this time.

We were seated in a very timely manner. Everyone was friendly and welcoming. We ordered the salmon and fish n chips. Our food was so well prepared and absolutely delicious. Salmon and fish perfect. Cole slaw was so creamy and tasteful. We love this little town and the food and atmosphere!!

Excellent southern food with a special flair. I had fantastic fried chicken breast, collard greens and boursin mashed potatoes. Everything was prepared perfectly, seasoned well and served graciously. The building is old and quaint but clean. 5 star all the way and the prices were reasonable.

The general atmosphere here is good but is affected by the "entertainment" provided.

We went here New Years Eve 2022 for dinner and really enjoyed ourselves --- with the exception of the dude on the piano.

He was banging on that puppy like he was in a Spaghetti Western and he was the saloon entertainment! I promise you --- we were expecting a lively rendition of "She'll be comin' 'round the Mountain" to come out before the evenings end.

Unfortunately, I cannot throw him under the bus without spreading blame to his friends in our section who seemed "hell-bent" on affirming his play.

We were 15 feet away and could hardly hold a conversation at our table. Even the wait-person struggled to communicate with us while taking the order and delivering the order.

My thinking of atmospheric dinner piano music is Diana Krall, Bob James or David Benoit --- and not "Clem from Carver City".

Music (at meals) needs to be subtle and unobtrusive.

In our previous visit, there was an acoustic guitarist who did exactly that. He was subtle. He was amazing, and he was greatly appreciated.

Piano man was loud and obnoxious.

Again, food and service are top notch here. Don't ruin it with your choice of musicians.

In this area --- less is more.

The staff and food was beyond great. I ordered the fried chicken after a local recommended it. She was right. So tender and good. My wife irdered the shrimp and grits and it may've been the best we've ever had. Definitely a 5 star experience. We will be back!

My boyfriend and I went here on the Saturday before Valentine's day and we had a great experience. They were handing out long stemmed red roses to the ladies and they had a pianist playing live that night! The food and drinks were great, the staff were attentive, and they made our evening a home run. Thank y'all for the great experience!

This is a hidden gem in Tryon! Wonderful service! Excellent food! The pork chops with apple butter were to die for! Collards & white Mac n cheese were delicious as well. The fried buttermilk chicken was excellent. Will definitely stop here again!

Had the fried chicken special tonight, with collards, macaroni and cheese, and mashed potatoes. Everything was excellent! Fried chicken was well breaded, super crispy on the outside, and juicy on the inside, with perfect flavor. The mac n cheese was amazing, the potatoes were rich and creamy, and the collards were the best I've had. They definitely don't cut any corners in the kitchen. Can't speak for service yet, because I got it to go, but they even had the presence of mind to put the collards in a separate container so as not to make the dish soggy. Great experience! Will definitely be dining in soon!

Great place for lunch! Reuben was thick and delicious. Pecan chicken salad was tasty. Cole slaw wasn't special, and the Caesar salad had lots of rusty romaine. But we'll return for the nice atmosphere and great server!

We went for lunch this morning at 11a and the food was absolutely amazing! This was our first time there and we were very surprised at how amazing it was. We had the Cajun Shrimp appetizer and the tortilla chips were freshly made and absolutely delicious with the shrimp. We'll definitely be back. Highly recommend

We just love this place and have only now posted a review!!! We have sampled the entire menu- and return to it. Crab cakes are my favourite, and the mussels and steak specials are Tim's favourites. Always fresh and delicious. So lucky to have this restaurant in my town!

Wonderful food and atmosphere. Fried chicken is some of the best we’ve ever had. Meatloaf was very good. Mashed potatoes were awesome! Collards were very good. I don’t give 5 stars often but this place was top notch all the way around. Kelly gave us great service as well. We’ll be back!

I would give them a string of stars if I could because...Wow! My sister and I had the fried chicken in August of last year. I was craving fried chicken so we went to Harper's on a whim. The chicken was absolutely delicious, fried just right, no oil and just the right amount of batter. It took my breath away because it was so good and so unexpected. We were over the moon. The Mac and cheese and collards were yummy also. I am visiting again so my sister and I are going tomorrow. Harper's is a totally unexpected delight down a side street in a tiny town.. Who knew?! Bravo, Harper's!
