Gaining Ground Grocery

I am obsessed with this little grocery! A small place making a big difference in Chattanooga. I love that most of the items are sourced locally (where possible) and they have an awesome bulk item selection where you can bring your own jars (think rice, steel cut oats, chia, dried beans, whole bean coffee, spices, anything else you could imagine). They're also bringing whole foods to an area where there aren't really any other grocery options that have the essential staples. The local meat, eggs, and milk are awesome, and the produce too! Freshly ground peanut, cashew and almond butter! I'll also note that a lot of their bulk pricing is cheaper than Publix, so don't let the fear of price deter you. Grab some jars, stop by and check it out. You'll feel great to be supporting your local economy and farms too!

It definitely reminds me of "natural food stores" my mom would drag me to as a kid, but they don't have $10 an oz date and flax seed bars that are shaped and taste like twigs.... THIS grocery store is approachable and not pretentious. As an adult now, I can see how cool it is to eat locally sourced foods. I am grateful that they are affordably priced and within my 'I always shop at Aldi' budget.

hidden gem of the community! Zero waste shopping for dry goods, cleaning supplies, spices, and lots of local produce. The prices are usually cheaper than walmart or Aldi and you only need to buy what you need. Always my first stop for weekly groceries!

Awesome bulk selection that just keeps getting better! Local produce, eggs, and cheeses. The prices are incredible! I cannot wait to see this store continue to grow. Definitely worth checking out!

I was so excited that there is a grocery store selling local goods! I try to get my produce from local farmers, but my schedule doesn't always line up with the farmers market. Gaining Grounds has a lot of the same vendors with more availability. The staff was also really friendly and ready to answer questions. Next time I'll bring some jars to stock up on dry goods package free. So grateful for this spot!

Amazing bulk and produce shop! I love that they have bulk and low waste options and locally sourced food. I would love to see expanded hours ASAP, but in the meantime trying to find time to go while they are open. Highly recommend!

The perfect store to get fresh veggies from local farms at a great price. I love the ability to buy bulk products using my own jars. For anyone who is interested in sustainability, being part of a locavore movement, or just love fresh food - this is the place for you!

My favorite place to shop locally and sustainably. There’s no where else in Chattanooga where you can find such affordable local options, bulk goods (including cleaning supplies + body care products!) and great customer service. 10/10, would recommend

I love this place! It’s a great option for folks who want to support local food producers but need the convenience of a store with regular hours.

This place is rad. They got great local fresh produce, local meats, local cheese, local eggs and bulk items. I am not a germ-a-phobe but if you are you’ll love the clean spaces, clearly labeled utensils and tongs for the green beans. Everyone is very friendly, helpful and tolerant of my nonsense. 🌟 🌟🌟🌟🌟 for this establishment. If you’re looking for excellent local food experience this is your place! ✌

Love Gaining Ground, I'm so happy they set up in Highland Park! Best quality produce, good prices, bulk supplies like soap, oils, some food items, and teas. Holly and Thomas are awesome folks. They have local kombucha on tap now too.

Absolutely love this store. U can make ur own peanut butter. Fresh spices. Oh I love it . 😀 fresh lettuce, ginger 🫚 turmeric and oh so much more. From local growers. ❤❤

This place is great! Had a great selection of local produce which rounded out our meal for dinner and a great selection of local eggs and cheeses. Highly recommend if you live in Highland Park.
