Parents pay sports fees so students can play a sport(s). Then everytime you go to a game, they charge you to watch. Crazy. If all the games were under lights, on an awesome field, you'd understand why they charge for it, but that is rarely the case.
On top of that - they charge middle and HS students to come into the game (but not teachers).
And the amount is never the same.
And sometimes you can only pay by app, and then get charged an additional fee.

Would be nice if someone addressed this. Nickel and diming everyone to death.

Ultimate failure of Special Education in Hamilton County, TN: using ”least restrictive environment” as an out for not supporting their students, not looking at medical/mental health diagnosis to consider whether a student needs support, being completely unorganized and neglectful in their system and last but not least…not listening to parents who live with and know the child best. As a parent of children with trauma histories, this is not the county you want your children to attend school in.

Completely unorganized registration process at Spring Creek elementary school. Waited in a very long line which was to be expected but then had to visit several different tables set up asking for the same information that was given at previous tables. My child will start Monday and then not go again until Thursday. Makes absolutely NO sense at all. Do not know who her Kindergarten teacher will be or any information about ANYTHING. Complete cluster. My child is zoned for several different schools so not sure if the registration process was this difficult elsewhere or indicative to just this particular school. I am definitely concerned that there may be a lack of organized leadership here.

My son is being bullied, a student hit him not once but twice within a week, then threaten his life!!!! The student was suspended for a few days and we were told that my son would have to see him on the third grade hall but they would “protect him” not satisfied at all. The school system is terrible and I’ve called the school board 4 times and haven’t been able to speak to anyone

I've gone through elementary, middle, and high school over the course of 10 years, all at HCDE schools. Take it from a student: This isn't the place to be. Administration doesn't care about actual issues but instead focuses on things that don't matter, like dress code. Why did Ms. Kass, the new principal at OHS, sneak into one of my classes while students were coming back from the library, stay in class for a good 10-15 minutes, and then just leave? Was she attempting to spy on our class? Was she playing hide and seek? I'll never know. But the fact that time can go into silently sitting in a class for 15 minutes instead of, I don't know, actually doing your job, is sickening to me. This is only PART of my high school experience, so if you believe this is all I have to complain about, you're wrong. I just am tired of writing this, it only makes me more angry as I type.

like the previous comment posted almost one year ago I am here to review Gail Patterson in student services. Needless to say, she just treats everyone poorly. I have unfortunately had to work with her on numerous occasions. After having that pleasure again today I can no longer stand idly by. She is very rude and has a know it all attitude, the know it all attitude would be fine if it wasn't easier to pull teeth than it is to get help from this woman. To be the person people call on for advice and guidance when registering for school you would think hamilton county would have someone a little more approachable sitting at that desk I am disgusted not to mention i called the assistant super intendent to file a formal complaint twelve business hours ago and stacy has not returned my call super classy, unbelievable the department of education responsible for ooltewah high school is not taking action when needed have not heard of anything like that before.......

I thought it was just me, until I read all these bad reviews about Hamilton County schools. Something must be done. I am going to find out how can we (parents) can change all this nonsense. We need to be more involved in our kids schools, how can nobody is doing anything for our kids getting bullied in the busses, or why nothing is being done with the rudeness and unprofessionalism of so many of the staffs??... Unheard-of!!!... We must act now or else nothing will change. I started by writing a letter to Dr Sharpe. Let's see the outcome of it.

Jill Levine as head of the new Opportunity Zone is an unfortunate choice. She is arrogant and thinks she knows more about teaching than a teacher does. Her appearance at Howard High graduation was a study in rudeness. She talked to Zac Brown throughout the Valedictorian's speech as as well as the other students. She made it difficult to hear some heartfelt words on the part of these students. Her lack of respect for both the individual and circumstances involved sets a bad president.

The snapcode registration process is a night mare. I have three children. One snap code was correct and the registration was fine. The snap code for my second child was incorrect completely and the system says it doesnt exist. The snap code for my third child worked but said the birth date I entered was incorrect for the child with that snap code . I know the day she was born. I was there. I really hope there is a solution to this for next year.

What kind of staff refuses education to poc kids? They deserve to be fired for saying that they aren’t worth teaching this isn’t Jim Crow.

Absolutely outrageous what is going on here in particular at Tyner Middle Academy with nearly 200 annual incidents of student beatings
(69% of all corporal punishment in the districts schools). Apparently someone has a fetish for this type of mistreatment of young people. A serious investigation needs to be done about these people running the schools in this school district.

If you need to speak with anyone at the school board, you may as well speak to a brick wall... you'd accomplish more that way. As for Durham bus services, are you guy's seriously going to keep ignoring how horrible they are?? I'll change my review when I see major improvements!
