I bought my wedding dress at Carlisle's and had a great experience. I wanted to keep my dress budget at around $1000 or less, and they still had a good selection of dresses for me to choose from, and did not try to push me to try on more expensive ones. It was my first time trying on dresses, and I wasn't exactly sure what I wanted, but my consultant was super friendly and helpful, and we ended up walking out with a sample dress that day. Since I moved out of town after I bought the dress, I did not end up getting my alterations there, so I cannot comment on that aspect. I would highly recommend the shop.

Charlene was absolutely amazing! I went by myself and she was so sweet in helping me and providing her opinion on the dresses. Both Charlene and the owner were respectful of my budget. I was given guidance on what dresses were on sale and non-sale, which was extra important as I only have 6 months to my wedding and they were so helpful in explaining which dresses may or may not be in stock/would come in time. I ended up buying the second dress I tried on and am so happy I went there. I highly recommend Carlisle's.

I purchased my wedding dress from Carlisle’s bridal and would highly recommend them. I almost didn’t go in there but did because my mother in law had purchased hers there 40 years ago. They asked my budget and showed me dresses within that budget. The woman helping me was so sweet and complementary when I was trying them on. The second dress I tried on was the one. I stepped out and the manager even came over and said that’s the one. My mother bought her dress from there as well. Once my dress came in theanager was there to make sure everything was perfect with what the alterations lady was doing. My experience with them was nothing but perfect and they made finding my dress that more special. Thank you Carlisle’s!!

I have been a customer of Carlisle's of Pittsburgh for 10 years now and Jan has never disappointed. I was in a wedding this past weekend and our dresses came from another bridal shop in the Pittsburgh area. There were issues with the seamstress at the other bridal shop and she was fired a week before the wedding with our dresses completely shredded and unwearable. I called Jan and with her help and the help of her seamstress Debbie, the were able to fix my dress to perfection the day before the wedding. These women have always been a pleasure to work with and I don't know where else I would have gone to make sure that my dress was presentable for the wedding. Thank you thank you thank you!!

This was the third bridal shop I visited in the Pittsburgh area and, by far, it was the best. They have a great selection of gorgeous, high quality gowns at very reasonable prices. We received excellent service from Charlene. She truly listened to what I was looking for and adapted to my style. She was warm, friendly, and unlike some of the other sales associates I encountered, she respected our budget and didn't pressure us at all. I felt that she gave her sincere, honest opinion and also had great creative thoughts to enhance the look. I also got a very inviting and professional feeling from Jan, the owner. I'm so glad I went to this stop and would recommend it to any bride.

My fiancé and I had very bad experiences at several shops around the city. We walked into Carlisle's out of the blue and were welcomed. The sales clerk listed to the type of dress and showed several that were under $800!

The sales person helping was kind and patient, I really liked the experience.
Thank you.

I recommend for any bride to be.

The people at Carlisle's were fantastic to work with. They helped me to find a beautiful dress that I normally would have overlooked on the racks. They were incredibly responsive, helpful, and made the selection and fitting process very easy. Thank you, ladies!

I just bought my wedding dress at Carlisle's, at the McKnight location, yesterday.

I had a very specific idea of what I wanted. Nothing trendy, nothing blingy. I wanted what I wanted... and I have spent months looking. Yesterday we shopped for 5 hours - From Oakmont to Fox Chapel, to Pittsburgh, and googled my way to Carlisle's.

Huge variety, pricing is perfect (plus a big sale rack - hellooo!), and the best part - NO PUSHY SALESPEOPLE. Dressing rooms are private but they do assist - and it's 1,000 times less awkward than other places.

I believe my salesperson was named Amy. I told her my specifics and she found me the PERFECT dress. On sale. In my size. SO NOT PUSHY. So sweet and helpful. Also helpful is that they have options such as: you find the perfect dress but it's a bridesmaid dress. They can order it in ivory or white, straps or not, hemmed the way you want, etc. So many options.

Skip David's, head straight to Carlisle's. They are for all brides - even ones who insist on a Stevie Nicks wedding in cowboy boots on an animal rescue farm. I speak from personal experience.

I walked in without an appointment to look for veils and the staff could not have been more welcoming and helpful! Anne and the manager Jan knew exactly what I was looking for in a veil and I found the perfect length and style. I could not have been more pleased - thank you!!!

Carlisle’s had a great seleciton of dresses. My consultant was lovely and made me feel very comfortable. I ended up buying the first dress I tried on!! Unfortunately my dress was ordered too big, I trusted the owner when she said to order a size 16 after she took my measurements, she said I needed to order the dress to the biggest size of my body... my hips. For reference I wear a size 6/8 jeans... When the dress came in, I was swimming in it, I took it to a few reputable seamstresses in the area and they all told me to return to Carlisle’s because they were uncomfortable with how much alterations needed to be done. I spent $500 on alterations and countless trips to Carlisle’s. Ten days before my wedding I went for my final fitting and my dress still did not fit!!! Due to the excessive alterations the dress lost it’s integrity and looked nothing like the dress I fell in love with months before. The seamstress had to put double cups in the busts to make it appear that I filled out the top... instead when I looked in the mirror I felt uncomfortable and fake. The front of the dress would not lay flat, the hem was too short, the buttons down the back were lying in my butt crack. It was a nightmare..

I ended up buying a size 8 dress off the rack at a local bridal store and only needed a hem (thank god)!!

Maybe I should have spoke up during my appointments and voiced that I was extremly unhappy with the progress or lack of progress with my alterations. However I was trying to enjoy my time as a bride & put my trust in the professionals. The owner was present for all of my fittings..I do believe that they tried there best to make my dress fit but it was not good enough and I was extremly unhappy with the end result.

Carlisle’s does not stand behind there work and they most definetly do not value customer satisfaction. I would not recommend Carlisle’s for your bridal alterations.

I went into the store with my fiance to look at bridal gowns. We were stopped immediately at the door with questions asking why we were there. When I stated that I was looking at wedding gowns, the sales clerk told me that she would NOT let me try on a dress with my fiance in the store. I was told to leave and come back without him. I have never returned to that store. I thought it was very rude of her to not respect our decision. We were treated like we were aliens and I would not recommend this store to anyone who wants to be treated well.

Stopped by just to look around. Owner / front desk Didn’t seem to care what I was looking for or my wedding details. Probably would have bought day of, but the rudeness turned me away. Decent price range / selection of dresses though, but hard to look at them as they are all in bags.

DO NOT SHOP HERE!!

My daughter bought her wedding gown at this store and I bought my mother of the bride dress at this store. My review is not so much about the owner or the store but about the seamstress. I understand that the store is not responsible for her pricing, but they do contract her so in a way they are responsible. When I went in for alterations, I was quoted a price of $325 for alterations. I only paid $500 for the dress. When I objected, the seamstress told me I was free to go somewhere else and that she was pretty much the cheapest. Well I took the dress to a tailor, and everything she was going to do this dress in his professional opinion was wrong. She was going to hem my scalloped edged dress at the bottom and try to match the pattern. My current tailor is going to take the dress in at the waist, the proper way to hem a dress like mine. He said it's more work for him but it's better for me and I agree. So here's the kicker. All of the alterations and taking apart the waist for the hem and doing everything properly.....$105! That is a $220 difference and that's a big deal. And that even includes pressing the gown. I would recommend you don't go to this bridal shop. Read the other reviews thoroughly. I understand that we can all go to a different tailor but it's nice to have everything done at one place. The seamstress wouldn't even budge on her price. Her only remark was what can we eliminate to drop the price. in my opinion there is no human equation at this shop. It's all about money. That is my opinion. Also pay careful attention in the reviews that the owner doesn't take any responsibility for any of the complaints. If I could give this business a zero I would give it a zero.

We had a terrible experience at Carlisle's bridal store. Everyone in this store was rude and unfriendly from the sales consultant to the seamstress. I was the maid of honor for my sister, she got her bridal dress there, so did the mother of the bride and the mother of the groom- (spending total around $3000.00) . Basically as soon as they got their money- they didn't care about pleasing the customer anymore. At my sisters dress fitting, there were obvious problems with the dress not fitting correctly, but they did not care and wanted us to just take the dress and say there wasn't any problems. I told them they needed to fix the dress and the seamstress said she would not be able to have my sister back in to fix the dress until 4 days before her wedding (when she had ordered the dress almost a year in advance). Our experience here was terrible and ended up with my sister leaving her appointment in tears and taking her dress elsewhere to get alterations.
Also The alterations they were planning to do at Carlisle's was extremely expensive!
