You gotta get here! I got the eggs with sausage gravy, toast, and home fries with onions and peppers-incredibly good!
But.
Pineapple upside-down pancake! Get here, eat it, never leave!
Fantastic friendly service and just a great diner feel!
(Apple pie pancake is rumored to be even better)

I just finished a delicious meal at this quaint little place. The young lady waited on me was very polite and friendly. She whipped up my Eggs, Sausage, Bacon and homemade home fries with the skill and care of a mother feeding her child. And the 2 pancakes.. no, they called them "mancakes".. were massive, as well as light and fluffy and oh so wonderful. Next time I'm out this way, I am definitely stopping here!!! Thank you ladies!! :)

First time here and loved it. Food was much MUCH better than the chain breakfast restaurants (IHOP, dennys, etc) and the service was very good. Instant favorite. I highly recommend this place.

Everything was great! Pancakes are better than iHop, especially the apple pancakes! We’ll definitely be back.

Today was my first time in the Donut Shack. I originally came for some donuts, but the lady behind the counter informed me they no longer make them. So I figured while I was there I may as well grab something to eat. Couldn’t help but notice the atmosphere. Absolutely loved it. Definitely 1950’s vibe. Food was amazing and staff were very friendly. Prices were right too! I will be back.

This is such a cool little diner! It’s decorated like a 50’s retro diner, it’s a little small so maybe not best for large groups. They have bar seating and a couple tables. I went there with my parents this morning, I’m from somewhere else but live here and they were visiting. The kids went back to school today so we thought we’d go out for breakfast. I had the French toast with bacon and home fries, my mom had the Big Ben, which is kind of a little bit of everything. My dad had the pancakes with sausage and home fries. Everything was amazing. My parents said the pancakes were really good, and they were HUGE. The size of the plate almost. There were only two employees, an older woman who did the (amazing) cooking, and a waitress. Both were very nice and friendly, and it looks like they have a bunch of regulars that come. I would definitely go here again, it’s not far from my house and it’s in a nice location. If you ever get the chance to try it, I recommended doing so!

Wanted a restaurant that served breakfast in the Penn Hills area. This restaurant had great breakfast and excellent service. The blueberry pancakes were amazing. Would definitely recommend this restaurant.

I had the Big Ben. It was hot, delicious and served on 2 plates! Generous portions and although they were obviously understaffed, there was no lack of friendly service. My two companions both had the Belgian waffle specials which they described as a "party on a plate"! Definitely recommend this cozy throwback diner to my friends and family. The Donut Shack Diner offers much more than their namesake!

All the Penn Hills goombahs used to hang out here back in the day, 1970s and 1980s. They'd smoke n drink coffee at the counter all day, having an occasional donut. The good ol' days, good times, good times. Penn Hills used to be nice. Was there Sunday, it's a sht hole now. They don't even patch their pot holes. Rodi, frankstown, and saltsburg rds are a disaster. Started falling apart in the 1990s. Will never come back because they allowed crime to take over.

First time here. Waitress was extremely patient and friendly with myself and my 3 year old daughter. My little girl finished her whole plate so you know the food had to be good! My only concern was the location. If you didn't know it was there, you'd drive right past it. Will definitely be back.

uh....my kids put me down with this place right up the street from me. They asked what I wanted them to bring me back for breakfast one morning. All I will say is get the bacon , egg and cheese on English muffin with a side of home fries with onions. Thank me later. I go every week at least and think about getting it almost every morning. Delicious. I am a creature of habit have never seen the menu but this smacks every single time. Good, home made food.

Nice, clean, cozy diner. Danielle is an awesome waitress. She makes you feel like you are a part of the family. Food is delicious. Sausage gravy is out of this world...
