Went here for the first time. These kinds of places are disappearing quick! Talked with the bartender who has been there for 40+ years. There wasn't a cool, so we didn't get to try the food, but we will definitely be back. Nice beer selection in cans and a few drafts.

A great tavern feel with wonderful food and friendly service. Highly recommend!!! Had my grandma, mother, brother, and twin daughters here. Was great!

Such a cool place. The grilled cheese is awesome and the prices are reasonable. My boyfriend and I got 3 alcoholic drinks and my grilled cheese 26 bucks. I also mistakenly forgot my wristlet. The bartender, who was very nice, noticed it and put it behind the bar where it was safe. The history behind the bar is also interesting. I will be back if I’m craving a grilled cheese.

Come here every time I’m in town to visit family. Great burger, even better fries! Won’t beat the price either. Billy the bartender makes a mean drink and it’s awesome to chat with

I passed by the Cage once before, and I have always decided I wanted to give it a try. I can say the Food is very good and it is indeed a Pittsburgh and Squirrel Hill staple. It is an old Town Charm with an old Pittsburgh feel. The Lady who took care of me is an older woman named Jan and she was awesome, and welcomed me back. I definitely will come back to this place again. I live in New Kensington but in Pittsburgh a lot. Please visit here if you get a chance. I recommend it for the quaint, old town charm atmosphere and a wonderful Lady named Jan who made the place like an old town charm.

EDIT: No more smoking and limited menu is back! Try the burgers, fries, fish sammie, and any of the apps. Some of the best bar food in town.

Cozy, smokey dive bar. Great prices, great staff, and awesome chefs. It quickly becomes your go-to spot.

This is by far the best dive bar I’ve ever been to. Ever since they banned smoking this is both our go to neighborhood bar and our final stop of bar hopping any given evening.

As far as I can tell when ppl who work their have days off they just hangout at the bar as patrons. What better endorsement of an establishment than to not want to get away from your workplace and coworkers on your day off.

Their kitchen stays open late and for the price point I challenge you to find a better spot !

Wonderful cafe & bar. The gal tending the bar was so sweet. She gave it that home town feel the second you say down. The prices were very reasonable. In fact for the size of the portions and quality of the food, the prices were down right amazing! The food was delicious as well, so if your looking for a nice relaxed little "hole in the wall" cafe with cocktails, grab a friend and head over. You won't regret it!

Bring your own food while the kitchen is closed. Great vibe, $4-5 local taps, PBR on tap too!

I really enjoy this place. It's not fancy. It's a cozy neighborhood bar. The staff has no turnover. I have literally watched some of them go gray. You might have to wait a little bit for a drink. For the right person, it's worth the wait. The story is, during prohibition, they sold 'coffee'. In coffee cups, if you follow. This place has been here longer than you have been alive, and probably hasn't changed much. That means the basic model works. Good burgers, wings, a couple beers- how is this a bad plan every once in a while? I have had some great conversations here. The crowd is smart, down to earth, and funny. Bourdain liked it, but that was back when you could smoke inside. I don't miss that part. There's even a book written about it. Beat that.

A smoky gem. Great dive bar with excellent staff and maybe the best burger in Pittsburgh, certainly for the price. Tony Bourdain knew what was up at the Cage.

Just like everyone said the cheese balls were the bomb. We had drinks and dinner too. Good music playing on radio and good atmosphere. Would go again. Feels like the local neighborhood bar

I've been coming to The Cage for over 10 years and it is probably my favorite bar in Pittsburgh. The atmosphere is great. They no longer allow smoking. There's usually something good on the TVs and the jukebox one of the best in town.
It's great for a quick drink or dinner. The drinks are inexpensive and the staff is wonderful. They really make you feel welcome and do a great job even when it's busy. The food is also inexpensive, fresh (for a bar) and delicious. You get a lot for your money.

The Cage is easily my favorite bar. I consider it the essential Squirrel Hill watering hole. If you work in the neighborhood you will find yourself in one of their booths at least once a week.

I don't smoke cigarettes anymore but when I did this place was like a magnet because they're one of the last remaining bars in the city that allow you to smoke inside. Be warned this is a real treat for some customers, but whether you like it or not you will leave the bar smelling like a chimney for sure.

I love every single member of the staff. Even if they're swamped they will give you the time of day, and they're really good at remembering your name!

The food prices are incredibly reasonable for the size and quality. My favorite regular menu items are the burger, the cheese balls, or the fish sandwich. The best kept secret is the 90cent tacos only on Monday night. I'll be going till the day I die!!

The dive my heart desires. Nice folks, never too crowded, good music. I love settling into a booth to read with a drink and a smoke. Their kitchen hasn't been open since I moved here but hoping they can reopen it soon; seems like they'd have good, affordable fare.

I always have a good time. I love the bartender who wears the bandana and black vest. He does not talk much but he has kind eyes and makes amazing drinks. I go on Thursday night because that's half off wing day. I have been for holidays like Halloween and the costume contest was so fun. Great crowd of creatives people are friendly and you can find someone to talk to. I dislike that it allows smoking as a non smoker.... But the wings and drinks are great.
