Zebra Striped Whale

This is a great upscale ice cream shop. They have lots of selections, from cups and cones, to shakes, mixes, chocolate and coffee. Plenty of books by the author of the line of ZSW children books. The interior has some nice tables in the back along with a few comfortable sofas. Not the speediest service, but the workers are all pleasant. Sure, it’s a little pricey, but it’s Newtown. It’s nice to have a family owned ice cream shop in the neighborhood!

A must stop for ice cream affectionados. Creamy Rich ice cream. Multiple flavors and plenty of add-on candies and cookies. Brownie sundaes, banana splits and many other options. Proportions are huge I could barely finish the kids cone size.

Their chocolate chip cookie ice cream is gluten free. As a celiac, I never get flavors like that. It’s really good!

Great little gem that is tucked away in a very nice part of town. Great ice cream store that has more then just your topical ice cream. They have waffles and crepes and even homemade ice cream cakes. Prices are ok. Not the cheapest but well worth it. Fun experience for my family.

My Fiance & I really Love this Place such A great atmosphere. Wonderful Caring Staff. Yes it is Pricy. The wonderful experience Balances things out well worth the price. They also sell wonderful children's Books that go along with the Theme of the place. Yes there is Family Seating inside & there are 2 benches one out front & one out back. plenty of Parking in rear with sidewalk access easy to find just follow the sidewalk towards the front of the building. Yes there usually is A waiting line from the entrance to the counter. No worries the line seams to move smoothly everytime we have been there that would be over 25+ times so I don't think you'll have to worry about that. 😏👍🏼

Friendly owners/staff. Great quality ice cream and coffee, best latte in town. The ice cream flavors change occasionally but the firm favorites are always available and the extras are fun to watch when they are mixed in on the cold slab.

The Zebra-Striped Whale is a lovely welcoming place with the BEST ice cream and great service. We love the big, light-filled room at the back.

First of all, any shop with a name as whimsical as “The Zebra-Striped Whale” will immediately grab my attention. Once we finished our meal at a nearby restaurant, we knew we wanted to try this place and headed over. The line was to the door but it was 100% worth the wait once we finally got our ice cream! The shop is very cute and cozy with a plenty of seating and a wide array of merchandise including various children’s books. The staff was so friendly and did an amazing job getting everyone’s orders taken. I had the Cake Batter Craze Ultimate Whirlwind and it was just as good as I imagined it to be. I love that everything is served in a container that makes it easy to take home. Will definitely return next time we are in Newtown!

The owners are lovely people. My granddaughter's birthday party was in a warm welcoming space beautifully designed with kids in mind (and adult seating too) Great frozen yogurt for me but I saw the ice cream was very yummy for the kids. Go there! You will be glad you did.

Excellent hot drinks, hand mixed ice cream, milkshakes, and chocolate confections. Great service, beautiful decor. There is a little bench out front where you can sit with your kids or sweetheart while you enjoy your treats. :)

Worth it! Place during that time seemed dreadful and empty, but since it was Memorial Day I cannot judge the area. As for the ice cream. You get almost 3x the amount for your $5ish. And it’s on a cold stone as well which is very good for Toppings within the ice cream.

Lovely place with a great atmosphere and good variety. I had a coupon for a free crepe, the owner tore the first one and even though I said it was fine and he knew it was free, he remade it. That is good customer service. My daughter loved her coffee specialty. We have been back several times since always a good experience.

The coffee and ice cream are outstanding. Fun, bright atmosphere. Often a crowd but great service and the line moves fast. Highly recommend the affagato with Gold Medal Ribbon ice cream..

I stopped in for some ice cream while waiting for my pick up dinner at another place. I got cookies and cream in a chocolate chip cone. Both the ice cream and cone were perfectly sized fir a nice snack. The cone did not leak! Highly recommend it! Lots of other dessert choices looked great {dipped pretzels, cookies, brownies, and customizable ice cream treats. I may buy a t-shirt when I stop in next "STRESSED backwards spells DESSERTS".
