The Bench

Great spot in Stowe. Went for late lunch around 2pm on Sunday in October. We're busy but easily sat party of two.

They have a wood fired oven, number of items on the menu are smoked and/wood fired and marked accordingly on the menu.

We had the fire roasted mussels, smoked dry rub wings, bbq pulled pork sandwhich with fries, and the hellbound pizza (pepperoni with hot honey).

The service was attentive and good, the food came out 🔥. Well seasoned tasty food. The drink and beer menu was extensive, including a few non-alcoholic options.

Overall had a good time and will be back when in the area.

This was a great choice for dinner. There was a 25 minute wait and I asked if I could place an order to go and was told they’d stopped taking to go orders at 6. It was about 6:25. Then she suggested we go to the bartender and ask the bartender if she would take the order for it. She did one better and sat us at the bar.

I asked for suggestions for a local beer and she said all the beers were local. I had a pale ale that was perfect with the ribs which fell off the bone. Highly recommend.

My dinner date enjoyed the salmon tacos.

We are staying across the street at the Field Guide Inn so it was very convenient and fortunately really good. It’s worth checking out.

One of our regular stops when in Vermont. Sitting at the counter watching food being cooked and food coming out of the kitchen is extremely entertaining.

I wish they had a roast vegetable skillet for days when veggies sound good. I asked if I could have a roast vegetable skillet made up and was told it wasn’t on the menu. They have lovely whole carrots that go with a meat entree and green beans, potatoes, mushrooms it would be so easy to do a meal with already existing items in the kitchen.

We also had the apple crisp. I’d give that a 2.5 stars out of 5. The apple filling was over cooked mushy with a few chunks of apples that seemed freshly tossed in. The cinnamon was over powering. I would have also liked more crisp, it had just a sprinkling of crisp on the top.

Great view. The service was awesome. Quick and courteous. There was a 45-minute wait on a Tuesday at 6:30pm. The fried chicken sandwich had kimchi and was really good. The hellbrook pizza was a pepperoni pizza that was great. The sunrise on spruce was an excellent gin based cocktail and I don't even like gin. An excellent place to stop in Stowe.

What was expected to be an ok dinner turned into WOW!!! The specialty drinks, beers, appetizers, entrees and desserts were unique, creative, artistic and absolutely delicious!! Relaxed cozy atmosphere to enjoy after a day in the snow!! Photos: chicken pot pie, lasagna, duck

I’m not sure why this place doesn’t have higher than 4.4 stars because for me, it was a 5!! My mom & I were visiting and stopped here to eat & everything was delicious!!! They opened at 4PM and we were the first customers in😆 The service was great!!! Our waitress was super attentive and the food was sooo good!!! The restaurant itself was cozy, clean, beautiful decor, etc. I highly recommend eating here!!

I love duck, but where I live it's not normally on the menu. I had the half duck here. A week later I'm still thinking about it. It was one of the best meals I've ever had. Done perfectly. Sides were great. Just a great meal.

I was really impressed with this place! Their selection of food was great, and their selection of drinks, cocktails, beers was also great. I'm not a huge beer drinker but I asked the waitress to suggest a beer that didn't taste like beer, and she recommended the Stowe Cider and this cider was so good, it was the best cider I have ever had. I bought a case of it the very next day because it is just that good. Their Mac and cheese and ravioli is also outstanding. The pizza was also impressive, I liked it better than some of the other local pizza options. The food came out hot, fresh and absolutely delicious. They have a great selection of vegetarian options and even vegan options as well.

I love this place! They were able to make a white sangria without it being on the menu and it was perfection. The Mac and cheese is phenomenal I added bacon to it which was an excellent addition. My husband also loved his meal as well so we will definitely be adding to our list of places to return to. Young hostess was a little amiss had to grab our own highchair but the wait staff and great food more than made up for it.

I won't call The Bench a hidden gem, as it's often very busy, but I think value-wise it's one of the best restaurants in Stowe. They had 6 (six!) different Hill Farmstead beers on tap!! The pizza is great, you can get wood fired nachos or mussels, the burgers are great - and they come with fries, something other unnamed places in Stowe charge extra for! And the kid's menu is excellent. The only downside is the wait when it's busy. But, go early and you won't be disappointed.

I’m updating my review bc my wife and I came here again today and I realize that I had failed to realize just how good this restaurant is. This has quickly become one of my favorites in Stowe, with great variety in the menu. The Pinnacle pizza is soooooooo good, try it. And, the MEATLOAF, yes, the meatloaf, that was so delicious that even my wife, who is not easily pleased when eating out, praised the meatloaf here. Folks, The Bench is one of the best in Stowe, period.

Cute spot, inside and out. Food here was delicious. Had their rezitarian veggie pattie on a salad and the mac and cheese - a must have!! Great place for a casual meal and some drinks.

Food was awesome,service was excellent Erin at the bar really does a great job,is very sweet and personable....I would hire her in a second to work for me.

Truly 5 Stars for Stowe! We started off with the scallops and they were perfectly seared. I had the 14 oz New York strip that was cooked to perfection - so juicy and tender with a perfect warm red center. My friend had the salmon that was so tender it was falling off the fork with so much flavor. We split a bottle of wine and the rest was history! We will be back. Great food, great service, great atmosphere.

This place was great. The Bench might just have the best burgers in the state. The beach burger had a nice cut of pork on it with some well picked vegetables. Great place to eat. Was very busy so we had a short wait to be seated. Food was really good and service was relatively friendly. I had the ribs which were very filling and the rest of the family had burgers which were delicious.

It’s a very cozy place, I ordered the lamb sandwich and it was okay I was pretty drunk so I don’t remember what it tasted like but I definitely liked the restaurant itself, my bf got a lasagna and it was rlly good also. I recommend 💯

The food and service were superb. The poutine was everything I expected. The servers were very knowledgeable about the menu and attentive to our needs.
