I’ve been firing here for 4+ years, ever since the start of the pandemic. The pottery studio is a wonderful place for clay classes and the glaze studio has so many options! I have enjoyed wood firing in the Noborigama and Train Kiln where I get super juicy results on my ceramics. Tim is always welcoming to me, and the community is family.

I started taking classes at Canton Clay Works in November 2023 and could not be happier! The instruction is amazing and the other students are really helpful and welcoming. The owner Tim is really great and he has been very accommodating. I’ve made some great friends and am having a blast. There are also so many options. Numerous types of clay and different types of kilns for firing your pots. Also a shout out to Abby and Maddisen who have taught me so much. I highly recommend this Studio. It has an excellent mix of a professionally run business, and opportunities to grow and lean.

I've done two wood firings at Canton Clayworks and already have two more firings scheduled. It is such a welcoming, educational, and fun place to learn such a wonderful craft. Tim, and the whole team, will help guide you through the whole process -- and the results are fantastic! I drive two hours each way to get there, and it's absolutely worth it. Can't recommend enough.

I attended a wood firing here in June and could not say enough wonderful things about Tim Scull, his team, and the wood firing community he’s created here. Everyone was incredibly helpful, knowledgeable, and patient with new comers like myself. I had such positive experience I am already signed up for my next firing!

A great resource for potters in the area with an extensive wood-firing program.

Tim Scull at Canton Clay Works offers an inclusive, educational and exciting opportunity to rent kiln space in his kilns by the cubic inch, including but not limited to his Train Kiln, Naborigama and gas kilns. If you’re a New England potter wondering where you can wood fire, this is it! 🔥

I was very disappointed with the service at Canton Clay Works. I have lived near it my entire life and have always wanted to try pottery. Granted when I started I was not the best which is normal but I found myself to be miserable at the lessons. Not to the fault of the classes or instruction although long demos were tiring for me to follow, however when I asked for a refund or partial refund after two classes (out of seven) I was denied very coldly and continued taking lessons until I simply decided to stop going. The owner said he would not lose money on my account but I wish he had a more understanding response. I am a student and these classes costed $380, not only was there no student discount but when I communicated how much I was not enjoying the classes there was no room for compromise. Very disappointing and if you are new to pottery I recommend going somewhere with less of a zero tolerance policy.
