New China Buffet & Grill

We visited the New China Buffet & Grill on Army Post Road on a Saturday evening to scope out this restaurant for an upcoming family celebration. I sampled a wide variety of the foods and found everything hot, fresh, and delicious. I especially appreciate that the restaurant provided disposable plastic gloves at the buffet. Using these helps reduce sharing of germs.

Service was VERY prompt. Whenever we finished eating from a plate, it was almost immediately whisked away.

The restaurant has 3 "party rooms." One is truly separated from everything else by its own round entry. The two smaller party rooms are basically a large room separated by a partial wall partition. We checked out another Chinese buffet in town that also offered a party room, but unlike the New China Buffet & Grill, that restaurant would not guarantee that we would have the room to ourselves for our event. After looking at both restaurants, we reserved the large party room at the New China Buffet & Grill, with no extra charge for use of the room.

An amazing gem in DSM! New China Buffet has both American and Asian style food. It has a great spread of sushi, meat in general, vegetables and dessert. So it’s one of my top picks.

Visiting from TX and this place is fabulous! Everything was delicious! The restaurant was clean. Food was plentiful and constantly coming out with fresh stuff. Absolutely some of the best Chinese food I've ever had!

I loved this place. It has a big selection of foods to choose from. It has a lot of space for people to sit. The art throughout is beautiful and the employees were very nice. The server was friendly and the prices are great. I tried fried squid and scallops for the first time ever and both were good. Definitely stop in and give this place a try if ur in the area.

Very, very clean. They even take care to clean high chairs which has always been a pet peeve of mine. We went right after they opened. The food selection was hot, there is a wide variety and very friendly service. The sushi was great and it was so nice to go to a buffet that was able to support such a clean establishment with great food!

Love the freshness of food with many choices of entrees, appetizers and desserts. The sushi is surprisingly fresh and excellent. You cannot beat a lunch at this price or dinner! We are so lucky to have it on the south side of town.

Just what we were needing, a delicious Chinese buffet experience. We were not disappointed. The food was delicious and had plenty of healthier options. Service was fast and the facility was clean and well-stocked. We both walked away stuffed and happy. We will be going back in the future.

Always busy. Food is good around lunchtime when it's hot and fresh. Very casual. Don't recommend late in afternoon as buffett gets slow and food sits. Egg foo young is my favorite here

You gotta get here early to really enjoy everything. It's always loud by what place isn't. My daughter always shakes so it is a little cold. Wear a comfy long sleeve and enjoy. They have Asian cuisine, as well as pizza, shrimp, ice cream, and healthy options like salads, fruits and different types of dressings.

Always love this place ,food always have the flavors I can come there for ..great variety.prepared fresh . Love the sushi bar.. always end with delicious fruits , pudding,and 🍨🍦.and the servers are fantastic and friendly.

I enjoy very much to visit this place with my family since it’s not that very far away. Variety of seafoods to taste and Chinese sushi. Special thank you to the chef of the buffet for cooked shrimps, stuffed mushrooms chicken & broccoli and salmon. Very delicious. I would like to visit it again. Thank you for having us.

Best Chinese buffet in Des Moines, scratches that itch just right. Doesn’t have published issues with food inspections, which most other buffets can’t say, and the food is good, great variety. Staff keeps stuff clean and fresh quickly

Chicken on a stick was incredible moist and tasty,bacon wrapped shrimp wow.there was not anything there that was not a labor of love by the chef it was perfect.

Food is always fresh and consistently restocked... Staff is very pleasant and courteous... just a great place for Chinese buffet.

First impression of this place was amazing food was great and the over all vibe was friendly and welcoming I will make sure to come back.

Another highly recommended place delicious food. Very busy atmosphere but friendly staff and other customers are also friendly. I highly recommend you trying this place.

It's big space. We can walk in 100 people. They have 300 chairs. The owner is very kind and nice.
