Long John Silver's | A&W

Yesterday my wife Pam and I ate at the A&W Long John Silvers located on East University Ave just west of the Iowa State Fairgrounds in Des Moines. Pam had the 2 piece fish dinner, mine (pictured) was the Salmon seafood meal, with a side of coleslaw and green beans. Pam's came with hushpuppies which we shared. My salmon was tender and flakey, couldn't have been more perfectly prepared, and was over the top in delicious, the bed of rice was generous, and quite good.
Both meals were perfection, perfectly prepared, the hushpuppies nice and tender, the slaw and green beans were an overload in goodness the slaw was crunchy, cold and sweet, the green beans were like grandma's. No wait to place our order, which came to our table very quickly. We've eaten at this location a number of times and have always had superb experiences. The staff have never failed to be friendly and helpful, apparently a well managed location.

This is the only Long John Silvers I go to. The food is always hot and fresh and the place is always clean. Every time I have gone they seem to have plenty of staff and everything is served quickly.

We stopped here to eat later in the evening after the Battle At The Barn. Our food was super fresh but took more than 20 minutes to get it and there was no other customers there.

The frosty mug for the root beer is so good. I drank 2 of them.

We love Long Silvers!! I wish there were many more Long Johns Silvers out there. We have to drive over an hour away to eat there. We need one in Knoxville, Iowa!!

Great to eat at a long John Silver again been awhile. Miss the one in Ottumwa.

This is my FAVORITE one in Des Moines! Clean, quick, and service was/is amazing! Always make a stop when in Des Moines!

Delicious fried fish and chicken, and great hush puppies. Only downside is the parking lot, but the food is worth the hassle.

This is the BEST Long Johns to eat at in Des Moines. I will drive over an hour to eat here. Nice clean establishment, friendly employees and the food is always so good and fresh.

It's been a while since I have had LJS! It was very good!

Always great. They were busy and everyone worked together to get things done. I was missing a shrimp, but they took care of it. All the food was hot except the fries.

So very sad Newton lost their Long John Silvers. So I drive 60 miles to this one on Univeristy. I ring their bell like a Chuck Berry plays Rock N Roll !!!!!

Me and my wife thoroughly enjoyed our visit . The gal that took our order was fantastic . Friendly , attentive and very professional . I think her name was cara . She deserves a raise . We will surely come back . CUDOS.
