Red Pepper Chinese Restaurant

This was our first time here, and we were mightily impressed. Our dishes were well prepared and delicious (generous portions too). There's lots of variety on the menu plus traditional dishes. The dumplings were to die for. The hot and sour as good as I've ever had it before. We'll definitely be back.

New location is awesome and food quality didn’t dip at all. If anything, it got better. Huge fan of this place. Welcoming, consistent, and affordable. A rare combo these days.

We used to love this place we have a big family so we always had to order quite a bit, we were so happy when we realized they're open again but haven't ordered yet because we're still trying to figure out what happened to the fried rice???

Look at all the mapo tofu I got for less than $10! The only reason I put the price as $10-20 per person is because I (and my roommate) got delivery!

And I can't praise it enough! The spice is nice, amazingly warm and balanced, not the usual capsaicin bomb you get when asking for spicy food but instead a layered flavor with garlic and chili. Tofu was soft but not unpalatably crumbly. And the hot and sour soup!

I can't say enough good about this place. Hope they open up for dine-in someday; I'd end up going way too often, ha!

As an aside, I don't even like cold noodles, but my roommate got some, and I tried them. EVEN THOSE WERE DELIGHTFUL. Even things I don't like, Red Pepper makes me like.

I have personally never been inside of Red Pepper, so I cannot speak to the atmosphere. HOWEVER, my family and I order from them when we have a hankering for Chinese.

The portions are large, hot, and flavorful when they arrive! Easily a meal for a day or two, or shared. Great appetizers, and soups.

The elderly gentleman who brings our food is extremely nice! Seeing his smile always makes us feel welcomed and appreciated.

The meal I have featured is the Yu Xiang Pork, my favorite spicy dinner. When ordering they give you the option of white rice, fried rice, or lo mein noodles. Can also add extra pork or veggies.
My family also really enjoys the General's Chicken as well as the Honey Chicken.

They have a wide selection of different food options as well as authentic foods too! Prices are definitely reasonable for the amount of food you get.

Fantastic food for a great price! Amazing authentic Chinese dishes. I ordered the Sichuan Spicy Tofu and it was so wonderfully crispy and with just the right amount of numbing spiciness. So good!

The staff was also super nice. They only have delivery or carry out at the moment as they are working to bring back dine-in after the pandemic, but while I was waiting for my food, the hostess and I had a wonderful conversation.

Definitely would recommend to anyone looking for great Chinese in Lawrence!

I've never been unhappy with a dish here! I strongly suggest ordering off the authentic menu, though apparently the general tso's chicken too! The service is always great (even though they're only doing pick up) and the food is consistently good. The only "issue" I've ever had is that some of their items are too spicy for me - but, to be fair, they do mark which items on their menu are spicy and they have even accommodated me by making these dishes less spicy. Lots of great vegetarian options too, and they've even special made certain dishes without meat for me as well! This is the first place I recommend to folks new in Lawrence.
My family's favorite dishes: mapo tofu, dry pots, country style beef, general tso's chicken, FRIED DONUTS, sesame rolls, and sesame noodles.

I love this place! I usually order their General Tso's chicken but I got Chicken Lo Mein and crab rangoons. Their food is always delicious but their brown sauce could use more flavoring. Other than that, service is always great and prices are fair. Definitely recommend!!!

Me and my husband love this authentic Chinese restaurant!! We love the General chicken, Pork lowmein, crab rangoons, Orange chicken, egg rolls, and pork dumplings. My whole family loves this place and when I go without them I hear about it. We live in Topeka but make the drive for the phenomenal food. The food is always hot, fresh, and full of flavor!! The staff are friendly and courteous. The atmosphere is cozy and comfortable. I would definitely recommend you try this place it will not disappoint. It would be great for a date night or a family outing. They do have these cool large round tables that seat about 12 guests or so. There is a glass circular piece in the middle that spins and makes it easy to pass food and condiments around to share. Great place and a great experience!!

Service is great, a wonderful variety of menu items to choose from. I had the lunch version of Chong Qin chicken, with hot and sour soup and cold noodles. It was cooked just right, the chicken was crispy and hot. The hot and sour soup was very flavorful and the cold noodles were really good. Very reasonable, under $7!!

This is my favorite place to get Chinese food. I really enjoy exploring some of their more authentic dishes. Makes me really appreciate I can try new food without having to travel far.

I get the food here regularly and highly recommend it to anyone wanting a new Chinese place to try.

(This was B1. 四川水煮牛- Beef in Sichuan chili broth, with nappa, celery, and bean sprouts.)

This place is as basic as they come ... takeout only, no sit-in dining. However, the woman who takes care of the clientele is very kind and thorough, and packs up your takeout better than anyone else in the history of restaurants. She uses cardboard and knots and everything, so that nothing ever spills.

The spicy dumpling dish is amazing ... at first glance, and given this restaurant, you expect it to be flaming hot. It isn't, but it has a lot of the Szechuan pink pepper, which puts your tongue to sleep. A fascinating taste ... wanna go back SOON to have it again.

I've called around to Chinese restaurants from Topeka to Kansas City and this is the only one I found with authentic Chinese food, not "American Chinese" food. When I called I spoke to Dandan (she sort of runs the operations on the front-end) and she was very friendly and informative. I drove all the way from Topeka and ordered once I arrived. The three dishes only took 15 minutes to complete and I was given two bonus eggrolls just because I came all the way from Topeka. The food was delicious and spot on to what I loved to eat while living in China. The staff was friendly, and the price paid was very reasonable for the quality of food I received. The boiled pork (水煮肉片) was fantastic. I will definitely make the trip and get more food here!

The Delivery service for Red Pepper is great! The food is always good, the delivery is prompt and the delivery drivers are always so nice. I recommend them for small and very large orders!

Got the grilled chicken fried rice, they filled my take out container completely. Not only was it full, it tasted amazing. It took me 3 meals to finish. Will come here over panda any day.

The best Chinese food in town hands down I am not taking any criticism and I do not care I would go here over any other place in the entire state and over any place I'm florida as well goodbye

Dry pot tofu is a knockout. Simply delicious and perfectly spicy!
