Bigg's BBQ

We were visiting Lawrence yesterday and had a wonderful experience at Bigg’s BBQ. The restaurant was inviting, with its striking decor and warm atmosphere--a touch of class. They even use cloth napkins, not those cheap paper ones.

Our server was absolutely delightful, as well. She made sure we had everything we needed and checked on us frequently.

The food was amazing. I ordered a three-meat platter of pulled pork, brisket, and sliced chicken breast. My companion ordered burnt ends. The portions were huge (so much so that we had to take half of it home). The prices were reasonable, too. The meat was tender and flavorful, and they have three sauce choices. The sides were also delicious, especially the onion rings and barbecue baked beans. Everything was fresh and homemade.

We highly recommend Bigg’s BBQ to anyone who loves barbecue and great service.

My son and I stopped in for lunch and ordered two unique platters so we could try a bunch of different things. Standouts for me were the chicken breast and sausage, while my son loved the mac and cheese and pulled pork. Both of us absolutely loved the bustling atmosphere, and the owners were SO nice and hospitable! Such a great place! Go check 'em out!

I was surprised at the space. Looks small from the outside but very large inside. Great house made sauces. The house made root beer is delicious too! Kolby provided excellent service and made perfect suggestions for this first-timer. We got the fried pickles and onion rings for an appetizer. I had the 3 meat combo for my meal, but I was too full to finish. The three meats were sliced brisket, smoked sausage, and crispy pork belly. The sides I chose were cheesy corn casserole, and broccoli salad. Wonderful atmosphere, service, and food.

Best BBQ around. Pork belly is amazing! The smoked chicken is out of this world, especially the crispy skin. Regardless of which meat you choose, you will not be disappointed. The smoked mac n cheese is perhaps the greatest BBQ side I've ever had. If they have it available, the smoked brownie is an absolute must try! The servers are always great. For those who can't decide, they are always willing to help you choose. Atmosphere is really nice too, especially the record albums at the booths.

When we have friends and family that visit the KC area, this is where we take them for dinner. It is well worth the 30-40 minute drive. Simply put, you can't go wrong.

Best BBQ I’ve EVER had & im from Kansas City Kansas! I find myself CRAVING their food so needless to say this is my new favorite spot! All the food is delicious so you can’t go wrong with ANY of it! I also love the soft classic music they play and the calming relaxing atmosphere.

The jalapeno poppers are giant and tasty. Take breaths when you eat it.

The food was delicious. Portions are extremely generous. Both of us took part of our meal home.
Our server (Arthur) was extremely attentive and polite!

Service was great. Loved the atmosphere. Food portions were large. Food was overall great. Cheesey corn for my wife was little to cheesy for taste but that's being very picky. Loved all the food here. Kids enjoyed it too.

First time here in awhile. Be prepared when you come here you will not leave hungry, if you do it's your own fault. We had the triple meat sandwich, brisket, pulled pork, shredded beef, with the spicy Cole slaw and fries. We also ordered the 2 meat sandwich with ham and brisket and fries with potato salad. And we had a pulled pork sandwich fries. I really wished I would have taken photos these words will not do this justice. Our server was friendly and management was outstanding. WE WILL DEFINITELY BE BACK.

There's a reason this establishment repeatedly wins the best BBQ in Lawrence awards. Not only can you not go wrong with anything on the menu I've tried, the service and prices are also excellent. I have visited many times over the years and tell my friends and coworkers to make a trip here over more expensive establishments such as Q39 or Jack Stack. Personally, I often go with the daily special coupled with their own Bigg's root beer and their baked beans and cheesy corn sides. You won't be disappointed.

This place is awesome. I stop here every time I'm in Lawrence. The food is amazing, the prices are very reasonable, and the service is great.
Lesson I learned the hard way -keep in mind when ordering that they are definitely not shy with serving sizes.

Definitely a nice BBQ joint to try out. Good portions and nice sauces to boot! Definitely will return and sample some other things! Wife loved the pork belly and I enjoyed the corn on the cob immensely.

We ate at Biggs last night and started with the brunt end appetizer and they were amazing. I had the grilled salmon with smoked Mac and cheese and sweet potato fries. The salmon was outstanding. My husband ordered the St. Louis ribs and they were smoked to perfection. Spectacular service! Can’t wait to go back again!

On a spur of the moment decided to check this place out, online reviews were promising. Locating the restuarant it did not seem promising, however, we ventured in so not to judge a book by its cover. Inside was so much better. Mid week, not very busy we were seated right away, friendly staff. We just ordered appetizers, fried pickles, burnt tips, smoked Mac & cheese, and spinach. Everything tasted great, service and atmosphere well above expectations. We only wish they add pork burnt ends to their menu soon. The beef burnt ends were delicious and melt in our mouths delicious still. To think we almost went to a nearby (stones throw away) big chain restuarant with a packed parking lot.

Really delicious BBQ. A must try. Pork belly and pulled pork were perfectly prepared and tender. Pet peeve of mine, the lighting was really low.

The ribs were unbelievably tender, and the chicken skin was crispy and flavorful. The brisket wasn't as juicy as I prefer, but it was still delicious. The pulled pork was great, too. I enjoyed the jalapeno cornbread muffin and the fried pickles (which came as spears and not chips).

First time here. It's really dark inside this restaurant. I ordered a Bigg's Root Beer and the burnt end mac & cheese. I was running late, so I ordered it to go. The root beer was disappointing. Not impressed with that. That mac & cheese though.
Firstly, it was HUGE! That made two whole meals for me. Secondly (and I say this from vast experiences of many different mac & cheeses) this was above and beyond THE BEST mac & cheese dish I have ever been served.
I actually came here to try the burnt ends, but I like mac & cheese so I thought I'd try them both in one meal to save money. The burnt ends were so covered in that delicious cheese sauce I could never try one on it's own to judge the flavor. This is a good problem to have!
Overall the restaurant is dark, but nice. My waitress was friendly and cute. The parking lot is atrocious. The BBQ sauce was just OK. The root beer is forgettable. But the burnt end mac & cheese.....
This dish alone gave you all 5 stars in my book! I still crave more to this day. A+

The brisket and mac and cheese is the best in town!

This restaurant is excellent! Exactly what you want from a barbeque restaurant: great food, good service, good atmosphere...a fantastic experience. The restaurant has TV's around the restaurant and in each booth on the top floor, so it's a great place to catch the game. Daily specials and a huge menu make this a local favorite.

*Local Tip* Ask to be seated upstairs with families. There are larger booths and it's less a bar and more a restaurant. Plus, Biggs gets a bonus star for Molly McGee's nostalgia.

*2023 Update* Still fantastic, excellent presentation - I'd say it's even better with time. Honestly though, if you were in Lawrence 20 years ago there's almost no way you didn't visit Molly McGee's, and the nostalgia is fantastic. The parking lot/strip mall has changed quite a bit with a large Kwik Shop in the parking lot, so take note of the changes in the traffic, but all in all it's still a great choice.
