DA is really great & staff as well!! DA is highly restricted by existing laws which doesn't allow to do her job! As a person and prosecutor she's fenominal!

The man was polite but they refused to do anything about the situation or help me out in any way and I think it's because I am from out of state I was told to email them a copy of the form and they would tell me if it was a legal form or if it was one that you could buy in a stationery store and if the name on the form was actually a real attorney emailed it never heard back from them and I have proof add the criminal activity I have proof that felonies are being committed deliberately and knowingly and the Attorney General's office is not interested because I'm not in that state I was very disappointed that there are two known criminals that are out there knowingly and willingly stealing people's hard-earned money by deception and lies and then they change their phone number the state attorney's office doesn't want to know anything about it because I don't live in that state

I was a 72 year-old, disabled grandmother, now 73 years old. I am also a new resident South Dakotan. During July 2022 we had our roof replaced by Twin Cities Construction, LLC in Deadwood. Will James Storhaug was the primary and Jeffrey (Jeff) Mark Storhaug (dad) was his “partner”. Remember those names. They completed the roof July 15, 2022 and with the contract satisfied and Mr. Jeff Storhaug demanding immediate payment (also he was leaving for Arizona the following day for “golf”), we paid the remaining balance. The contract was satisfied. In September we received notice from Builders FirstSource a lien ($11,801.12) was being placed on our home for non-payment for the materials used on our roof. This “debt” quickly went to collections and we eventually ended up paying an additional $10,000 for satisfying the lien and its removal plus preserving our good credit. The following January, 2023 we filed a complaint with the Pennington County State’s Attorney Office. Shortly afterwards Investigator Salas left a voice message. I returned the call and Salas said, “This is a civil matter and this office will not pursue this further.” Click! We weren’t worth his explanation. Much has happened since. South Dakota Attorney General (consumer complaints) says the money stolen is a Class 4 felony. So, it appears Ms Lara Roetzel either doesn’t know South Dakota codified law or there is something deeper. I (Connie Truninger) started asking questions. It turns out Ms Roetzel is very familiar with my partner. Wendy McGowan from the State’s Attorney Office prosecuted my partner in 1998. During the sentencing phase, Ms McGowan requested the stiffest penalties the law allowed and her co-prosecutor strongly insisted on a lengthy prison term. Thankfully, the judge saw differently, but a sentence was imposed. The co-prosecutor was visibly upset with the lighter sentence. Until I do ALL my homework, there’s little to add, but I will confirm and verify before proceeding.

I have been jailed for 8 days on a charge of driving on a suspended license when I was in fact not driving on a suspended license. I took the required written exam for automobile license, and then took the written test for a motorcycle after having had my motorcycle license for 20 years. I missed the written test on motorcycle by 1 question and was required to return another day. I opted for the option to have my vehicle license printed so I had a valid drivers license in my possession. I was pulled over and subsequently my DL was verified, only for it to come back as invalid. The reason was when the state of South Dakota changed to a new program, the information transferred as I had failed the written test for motorcycle. When the information was transferred through their API the click link didn't transfer my valid DL test. I have tried unsuccessfully several times to get this corrected with Pennington County and the States Attorney who is an elected position, refuses to acknowledge the facts. Instead they issue warrants for my arrest, which has lead to multiple harassment from law enforcement, attorney fees to a public defender (of which operates out of the same office of the states attorney how is that impartial?) who fails to defend my legal correctness, or to return calls. I have posted bail several times as they haul me to jail for being a law abiding citizen, that has been observed as guilty until proven innocent. This has been a major failure, disappointment, harassment, financial and mental burden on me and my family. I have tried to talk to the court appointed attorney who is never in the office, nor returns calls, and have documented proof of phone calls 14 times since the initial appointment. I have also signed a power of attorney to him for representation in this matter. Yet now for the 4th time there is a warrant for failure to appear. I shouldn't even have to appear or deal with a mistake that was made by the state of South Dakota to begin with. Where's the accountability here? What's my compensation for their wrongful imprisonment, mental anguish, loss of income, and compensation for my time?
