We ordered a 6’in carrot cake for our wedding and it was DELICIOUS. Our wedding was on Christmas Eve and they had it done the day before. We wanted to wrap and save some for our 1 year anniversary but we just could not stop eating it!
They were super fairly priced and I will probably purchase a carrot cake every year now.

Kay and Jos made an INCREDIBLE brownie cheesecake for our wedding! We also got key lime, cherry cheesecake bites, fudge bites, butter cream cupcakes, and carrot cake bites, and they were a hit! Everyone loved them! Sooo good

I just had the best Club Sandwich of my life! Fresh baked bread, loaded with meat. Perfect amount of Mayo. Very friendly atmosphere, quick service. Cannot wait to come back and try cookies! 😋

The sandwiches and salads are delicious!! The order, Barb knows me by name because I frequent the eatery.
My favorites of the salads are the Ceaser and the Bowtie! If you are looking for comfort food, the grilled cheese is an excellent choice 🌟
I love the soups that they offer in the wintertime as well.

Made a custom cake for our granddaughter’s 3rd birthday- they created it off of a picture of her favorite highland heifer fluffy. She loved it

Did an amazing job on my son's birthday cupcakes turned out so cute and delicious. Have ordered here for previous birthdays and special events and will continue to do so.

Easy to alter menu for vegan ~ definitely a place to stop, just a block from Rt 20 ~ onsite seating and tons of sweet treats for non-vegans 💗🍰

If you’re looking for a personable place with GREAT coffee, this is it. They have the best flavored coffees and for the iced coffee they use coffee ice cubes so it doesn’t get watered down! Not to mention this place smells like cafe heaven walking in. Next time will be trying a panini or egg scrambler, too bad I wasn’t hungry this morning!

I happened-upon this cute little bakery and had the most flavorful shrimp corn chowder and the gooey-ist grilled cheese sandwich! Perfect comfort food on a cold, blustery day.
Picked up a few sweet treats for later too ~ can't wait!

6/15/23 Update - still a wonderful place. I would say even better. Their selection has expanded and they have added 2 picnic tables outside. Meal is still really good and they have a nice selection of breads and other goodies. This place is a nice little café off the beaten path in Marengo. My experience has always been delicious and pleasant when visiting Kay and Jo's. Not only do they make great sandwich plate, soups and salads, they have fresh baked breads and sweets also. Very nice experience but just two tables so get there early or take it to go - you will not be disappointed.

My family loves this Bakery. They have the best French Silk Pie I have ever had. They have a great variety of cake donuts, and they cam pretty much create any custom cake you would like. I appreciate the honest they give when they cannot accommodate a request. They thrive for perfection and quality over just making the sale.

Finest bakery in all of Mchenry county, been to many bakeries and this one is the best! Family owned and operated! NOT a commercial corporation. If you never had a Marzipan princess torte. You need to google it and then have Dan the owner make 1 for you! Best homemade pies around. Haven’t had a princess torte in a few years, had to import one last year and Dans is weaaay better than any I’ve ever had. and he can custom make them with non traditional flavors and toppings if you like!! Food and treats are AMAZING. They have cake donuts which my child loves. Super friendly owners where you feel like always welcome. Skillet was one of the best ones I had ever. They made us super cute cookies for a party we had as well.

A few years ago, a guy I work with gave me a cherry pie from Kay & Joe's for Christmas. Every since then my wife has me buy Christmas pies from them. Last week end I was out with my son and noticed a cherry pie at a local restaurant. I had them cut a few slices for my wife because I know how much she likes cherry pie. After I presented her the pies she informed me she doesn't like "cherry pie". She only likes Kay and Joe's Cherry pie. After I tried the pie I brought home. I realized that I don't like cherry pie either. But I love Kay&Joe's cherry pie. True story that just happened.

Pleasant service, home town atmophere. All made fresh and delicious. I have had all my cakes made here and people just rave about good taste and artistry. Best place to breakfast, lunch or get sweet treats.

I have no words to describe how much y'all need to find a reason to come here. We pass through Merango maybe 5 times a year and we usually go to Merango Cafe. I'm so happy we decided to make the change. They are located a little bit off the beaten path, but man was it worth it. The donuts here are huge - think double the size of Dunkin Donuts - and 10xs the flavor with no grease. My daughter got the cookies and cream donut, and raspberry filled. She actually took her time to enjoy them...which is rare. I got the Bacon and Egg Panini. Bacon was proportionally thick. The eggs where delicious and not over flowing. I'm so happy they use Vermont White Cheddar. It elevated the entire sandwhich. But lets talk about the bread. It was perfectly crispy and light. You know how usually when you eat a Panini it either goes limp in your hands or its so dense you need a nap? Not the issue here at all. My fiance ordered the Steakhouse Panini and man. I nearly lost my mind over it. It's off the lunch menu. The first bite I took I was hit with an explosion of flavors. This white creamy sauce with the meat and the Vermont white cheddar, and the bread. Jesus. I was absolutely SHOCKED when I found out that creamy sauce was made with horseradish. I loathe horseradish. But I'd eat this sandwhich every day. We got some more donuts to go, anf this blueberry tart. My daughter got hot chocolate and a bottled water. We got Iced Teas, one sweet, one not. I usually perfer unsweeted but the sweet tea was perfect. We had a great chat with Kay throughout our stay there and were in no rush to leave. There was two places to sit inside and eat. Perfect intimate atmosphere. It felt like we stopped by to see my favorite Aunt for breakfast. All of this, and it was under 30$. I would have easily paid double. We will be back!

Delicious soups, salads and sandwiches - ALL made from scratch! Add that to the home made doughnuts, cookies and candies and you'll find yourself in a scratch made foodie heaven. Staff was absolutely wonderful, food was delicious, and the service is incredible. The prices are also very reasonable. If you’re in the area it’s a great stop.
